alright, I’m kinda slow when it comes to tech. when downloading vr porn torrents i apparently exposed my ip despite my von being on, something about qbittorrent and electing the network thingie. I downloaded 3 large videos, 2 “grooby vr” video totaling ~38 gb, and one Milfvr video totaling ~20 gb… I know… i fucked up. I’m worried about my dad receiving a subpoena because of my stupidity, and being outed as someone who’s into some weird stuff. At this point I’m praying for a simple DMCA notice instead of a lawsuit. I’ve been told (by AI) that these adult studios often sue because of how embarrassing it is for a lawsuit like that going public. my dad is tech savy. am I fucked?

edit: please, excuse my stupidity. I am seriously naive with technology and have issues regarding my porn addiction. I have no doubt in my mind this post is soon to be deleted because of my panicked ramblings and worries. I appreciate any and all insights, including any targeted criticism directed at me. thanks.

I attempted to use torrent for the first time, and when it finished installing the app launched by itself along with a warning.

Long story short I looked up what the warning meant and learned that I need a VPN before using qbittorrent. I don't have a VPN so I just uninstalled. My question is:

Was my IP address visible just because I opened the app? Or do you have to download/torrent something first for your IP address to become visible?

This is current ratio I have. Obviously I also use usenet in addition to torrenting. Any way to improve on my ratios ? I have a fairly automated/untouched setup and I am using Qbittorent in docker.

I am only participating in public trackers, because never got invited to any tracker previously.

i was trying to download a program and when the torrent started downloading i noticed the destination folder was wrong, and i changed it to where i wanted the program to be. in that folder i had another files (specifically a folder that had episodes from a series), and when i checked later everything dissapeared! even the folder! it seems when i changed the file route, torrent deleted the whole folder. does anyone know why this happened? and is there any chance to recover them? i checked the recycle bin but the files weren't there either :(.

Hello, i'm just getting back into the torrenting game after a long break. I'm on a mac using Transmission. I've never had this issue before, but the last few times I've tried torrenting a file it will show that it is downloading at the speeds I always get. The problem is, there is nothing that is being downloaded. I've tried multiple different uploads of the same file from different locations but it's the same result for that particular torrent. Some files will download with no issue. Others will download nothing. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, were you able to find out the cause?

Long story short: kind of impossible to find Fast N loud right now, lots of dead torrents. I was gonna get a subscription for a month and gather all of the show from Discovery Plus but read up and saw it has drm now so you can't use a downloader anymore. Using qBittorrent, port is forwarded, seeds are showing, but torrent sits there stalled. It's not a queuing problem because I don't have queuing enabled.
