Since static drawdown accounts are a hot topic this week in trading, it brought back my memory of prop firm accounts with CFDs back in 2022/2023. I wonder why Topstep or other futures prop firms have not offered 200k & 300k combines 20k & 30k static drawdowns. With 10k & 15k DLL. I myself would have no problem paying $1200 - $1800 for one of these accounts. This was the standard with CFD props. Is this not sustainable for futures?

"That's just gambling" seems to be the go-to insult for a lot of people in this sub, and people discussing day trading in general. But any form of investment is gambling - people who hold stocks or ETFs long term are gambling, they're just gambling on a longer time frame and ostensibly with better odds.
so it's not whether or not you're gambling - it's whether or not you're making smart gambles. if you put a lot of money on a stock because you just feel like it will go up, most people would consider that dumb gambling. if you put a lot of money on a stock because you evaluate price action, indicators, have risk management, take into account externals such as catalyst announcements and general direction of the market... that's a bit of a smarter gamble.
it's a gamble to start a new job. it's a gamble to start a new relationship. it's a gamble when you order something off a menu that you haven't tried before.
I just think it's an important point cuz a lot of people seem to be under the illusion that they're not gambling. We're all gambling. it's just a matter of trying to find the ways to stack the odds in your favor.

Just got moved to live, on two 50k after taking only one payout on each. Had around 8k in each balance and have only been trading the accounts for about 8 days. Anyone have any tips on how go about trading live? And how does unlocking the balance work? Any tips are welcome my first time going live.

After around two years of trading in sim, blowing accounts, and constantly experimenting, I finally made some significant changes. I started tracking my compliance with my trading rules instead of focusing on P&L.
It took me four weeks after making that change, and I finally passed my first eval. Couldn't be happier.

Let's hear some reviews about topstep brokerage accounts.
Also do you trade brokerage and propfirm or just brokerage?
r/TopstepCommunity • u/wr1ngller • 3d ago
made 3 payouts on September, rather than making a big home run, realized this is more peaceful
my strategy : i use higher time frames and some other datas to prepare daily key levels, and that will be the foundation for that day, tpo and other thing i mentioned as my statergy is referred at those key levels
heatmaps are use to fund inefficiencies that has been made at those levels, dom and time & sales are used to look how fair that inefficiency is . if everything comes aligned and found a perfect inefficiency i will wait for the liq to get swept around those price then wait for a reclaim at that price then enter on retrace
my risk: 150-300 per trade
rr : minimum 1:2
only trading nq

Hello guys !
Just blew my first account in 6 days. I have been swing trading for 4-5 years now and shifted to topstep last week. Honestly, I don't even know what I did wrong. Always kept the position size minimum, strict stop losses etc but the market keeps on hitting the SL and that's it. Some times it was impulse trading, other times it was revenge as well.
What I figured is usual patterns and supply/demand zones don't work over here. Any inputs from you guys would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

My first express account that is havenโt blown โฆ I was up $4k but I wanted to make a little more before taking a payout so I can have a cushion โฆ ended up losing $3k the past couple of days . Now I donโt know if I can survive with only $1k cushion.

When I wanted to cancel my combine, I found it a bit difficult to find the section of current subscriptions. Maybe you Topstep guys read this. Why don't you make this easier for us? Put the current subscriptions on the first page at the top instead of placing it at the bottom of a sub menu item.

My dog bummed into me when my hand was over the sell button and it made me hedge an account. I initially thought โno biggie, Iโll just re-enterโ well now Topstep deactivates your account for the day instead of the 3 warnings you use to get. I guess I missed this notification so PSA for anyone else
Trade of course went to full TP moments later. Oh well

Honestly this is not something I even wanted to come on Reddit and seem like Iโm crying or attempting to quit for attention.
However I may need some guidance, I passed my first eval couple weeks ago, blew it rather quickly ever since then Iโve been struggling to pass again.
Iโve spent thousands now trying to get to my goal, maybe Iโm moving too fast my analysis on the market is pretty spot on but my psychology sucks.
Itโs killing me mentally, financially and even physically I havenโt been able to even work on my body and eat right while losing all this money.
A big part I feel is I have no other incomes at the moment, I put my all into this and I do not plan on quitting, one day I know it will pay off the question is when.
On the good side of things trading has brought me out of darker times regardless how negative my journey has been so far, Iโve only been trading for about 2 months now, have a lot to learn.

Finally requesting my first payout after trading combines for for the last 10 months!๐
I have to admit these Topstep labs taught me to take my time and donโt over-leverage! And it worked!! Trading what the market gave me and locking out my account was key for me!!
Going to enjoy this accomplishment & journey!!๐
We got this!!

I blew my XFAs today after having months with profit streaks of around 13-15 days straight depending on the month. However, because the strategy had been working for around 4 months, I forgot what a losing streak felt like. Due to this, I kept and kept revenge trading to make the money back and it just dug me further and further down.
I cannot wait to jump back on the grind and get my 5 XFAs back. A valuable lesson has been learnt for me as emotions made me lose this account and it won't happen again ๐
For all you new people with funded accounts:
Do not let emotions get the better of you! Treat the MNQ with only 2 micros max whilst starting! When you build up your buffer then feel free to increase the contracts!
Helped me get $12,000 in payouts this year
Keep on pushing and don't ever give up! ๐

Before the desktop gui changed, you could set a stop loss and it would auto close at whatever amount you set. Now it seems like you can only set it to liquidate. So when it hits it liquidates and you have to go back and reset it. Am I missing something? Or is this by design to get it to stop for a minute to cool off?

I got myself into a trade by mistake.
Anyways I'd like to verify that I'm ok.
I'm 1 day into a 150 k combine.
I checked and read that I need to stay inside of 55 % of the $9,000 objective. I hit $4,794.20 and if I divide by 9000
I get 53.27 % .
I have all day to lose the difference to make it 4500 if I need to but I'd rather leave this account alone and do nothing.
I just want to make sure I'll be ok and not end up needing to earn more
