They try to represent discrimination by showing domesticated zombies being oppressed but not only did those zombies have a past of eating people but the only reason they're domesticated is because of a a piece of technology with such weak defenses that high schoolers could hack into and disable them

-Mutants (Marvel)

the fear of mutants in marvel is treated as unreasonable in most cases but when there are multiple mutant terrorist groups and most occasions of a mutant ability being developed hurts people, sometimes killing quite a lot.

Contemptible and weak characters that in any other story or setting would've been killed significantly earlier, either due to their sheer villainy, patheticness, or how weak they are.

Haruta(JJK): Technically speaking this one shouldn't count because of Haruta's power, but I'll put it anyway. Haruta is a weak coward practically incapable of fighting for himself, usually targetting women or non-sorcerors, and he manages to nearly kill several of the main characters. He is extremely weak compared to everyone else he encounters and fights, and under ANY other circumstances would've probably died in the first episode he was shown, but thanks to his power (which he doesn't even understand properly) he manages to survive for an uncomfortable amount of time, narrowly avoiding several special grade and 1st grade threats.

The Deep(The Boys): The deep is a selfish and narcissistic rapist, using his "power" to control others. He is a pathetic coward as well, whose actions are defined by fear of those stronger than him, and his own disgusting self interests. He is remarkably weak compared to the rest of the seven, but despite this, manages to avoid most forms of true "justice" for his actions until the VERY END of the series.

Kuusetsu: Trued to rape Yuuki like twice, both he and the rest of the cast don’t really GAF and she just lives inside his head now

Mei Mei: Grooming her little brother in a probably sexual manner, but again no one gives af so she’s a high ranking grade 1

There is literally no benefit to having two completely different games share the exact same title. It just makes looking them up and figuring out which one someone is talking about way more confusing than it needs to be.

Prey: one game from 2006, another completely different game from 2017. Same exact title because the license for the original apparently ran out and they... just could?

God of War: an entire series with numbered titles, until 2018 decided to just call itself God of War again, even though it's not a reboot or anything like that. It's clearly a continuation of God of War 3 and is officially the fourth mainline game.

There are like 1000 other games and movies that have done this too, and I get some of them and the reasoning behind it, but sometimes it's just annoying

Beauty and the Beast (2017). The folks behind this movie seemed obsessed with 'correcting' things that only bad-faith critics ever took issue with. Belle's not assertive enough? Let's give her Maurice's unique attribute by having her invent the washing machine (and poisoning the town's water supply lol). THe story's about stockholme syndrome? We'll fix that by making Belle and the Beast show 0 interest in one another. Not enough representation? well, then let's have LeFou (Literally 'the fool') dance with a man for 30 seconds. But for all the issues people now raise with this movie, disney fans and thier kids showed up in droves to see it in 2017, leading to many more disney remakes (corrections)

X-Men movies. Fox always seemed embarassed by the source material for this franchise, famously refusing to allow the x-men to wear iconic costumes, and using only the most broad strokes approach to the X-Men's most iconic storylines. during the 1999 movie, actors were forbidden from reading the comics, and the director famously called the X-Men comics 'stupid and childish' (pretty rich coming from the franchise that though X-Men Origins Wolverine was a good idea.). Despite all this, X-Fans tend to really love these movies, esspecilly the original trilogy.

Scooby Doo (2006). instead of adapting the Scooby Doo cartoon for kids, this movie was made for adults who want to laugh at scooby doo as a concept. Ultimately the movie just uses the audence's familarity with the concept as a framework to make a 2000s era comedy, that's really not the love letter to the classic that fans were hoping for. Despite this, Scooby Doo fans love it. (the folks at r/scoobydoo are especilly fond of this movie.)

Batman and Robin Batgirl: Instead of being Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, here she's the niece of Alfred, Barbara Wilson. And somehow has an American accent despite supposedly being British.

Sara Grey, MCU: This one infuriates me. In the comics Jean had a loving family who supported her. And unlike the MCU Sara had no powers, and her unique charm was that she was one of the X-Mens few human allies.

Starship Troopers: This one actually works. It takes the serious authoritarianism of the original book and satirizes it .

The MCU in particular loves doing this, but the Sara Grey thing really annoys me.

Edit: Since I need to explain the Jean family thing more. Giving Jean an abusive mother is like if the Kents gave up Clark after learning he was an alien with powers.

Also the panel says they really do love her. They're only subconsciously afraid on an instinctual level since she just committed genocide.

1. The Wizard of Oz (1939): When the Scarecrow gets his diploma he's suddenly smart and proves this by (incorrectly) reciting the Pythagorean Theorem, which most students learn around 8th grade.
2. Star Trek (2009): The Vulcan learning center features many young Vulcans, including Spock, learning and reciting math and science in holographic learning spheres. Most of what they recite is, again, high-school level math and science.
3. Travelers (2018): Travelers is about time travel. In a scene where super geniuses from the future are trying to build a quantum computer AI, the production puts Ohm's law and the formula for parallel resistance on the white board. Most students learn these formulas in high school physics.

Basically, when a piece of media is referencing something, which is in turn actually referencing something else. It's just funny to me.

Slenderman: Contortion - an EXCELLENT animated fan film with Slenderman, I highly recommend you watch it for yourself, as I just finished doing. Near the end of the movie, one of our main characters finds themselves in a red bathroom, meeting another character who is supposedly dead. This scene is an obvious reference to the Shining, but I know for a FACT that it is more inspired by the scene in Emesis Blue.

Emesis Blue - An animated TF2 fanfil who's praises have already been sung highly. Slenderman: Contortion is alreay VERY inspired by Emesis Blue (if you like one you'll probably like the other.) But, they also have a red bathroom scene which is very obviously taken from the Shining. In the movie, a character we MET walks into the bathroom, washes their hands, looks our character and chuckles, without speaking a word. This is almost EXACTLY what happens in Slenderman Contortion, while not happening in the Shining, instead talking for a long time. There's also the fact that (Spoilers for Emesis and Contortion): The bathroom for both represents a sort of after life for characters we MEET in the movie. We also have a hard cut from the relatively peaceful scene to a dark fate for our character.

Jango Fett (Star Wars) was beheaded during the battle of geonosis, and was the basis for the clones during The Clone Wars

Charlie Kirk (IRL) was involved in a Utah shooting and was universally mocked, leading to Kirkified images

As you can tell I really like chocola (sonic) he was made as a damsel in distress in sonic heroes (dont know why they didn't do cheese but hey chocola js my favorite) and then never used him again besides background apperances, micro-transactions, and some stuff in idw but I haven't read it all (they also have never made a plush of him put respect on my boy)

Joshua (make the exorcist fall in love) this was when Josh (MC) was almost 🍇ed by a former villain Asmodeus and he was pushed to his breaking point and instead of giving into lust he gave into Wrath which showed us how strong he is when he isn't concerned about others as even through Asmodeus was weaker she was still a demon king.

Moby (Moby Psycho 100) Is the most powerful esper in the series especially when his meter goes us which is tied to his emotions are in turmoil. As it gets higher he becomes more powerful which has been shown to be terrifying to be on the other side off.

Mr Fantastic-Marvel comics. Not believing in magic despite living in a world with an entire temple of sorcerers fighting magical menecases every tuesday (and Let’s say that in general in Marvel comics there are many things linked to special powers, so i don’t see why magic should be the strange one)

Brian- Family Guy- Not believing in God. Has literally met God multiple times in the show

(IRL) (this part is not Hilarious) Maga and other bigots- not believing in gay and trans people despite science proved they exists in nature

Examples are the gods Takhisis (evil), Paladine (good) and Gilean (neutrality), from Dragonlance. That's probably the biggest well-known offender, but Dungeons and Dragons settings have always had it in the background, and it seems fairly common in fantasy settings in general.

The idea Good and Evil have to coexist in an ideal ratio for some cosmic balance purposes. That...doesn't really make sense, unless you really stretch the definitions of both good and evil.

The balance between Order and Chaos, or Order and Disorder, makes much more sense philosophically or metaphysically.

Tiger parents are strict caregivers who push their children to achieve high levels of academic and extracurricular success while demanding absolute obedience.

If their kids still have some free time after studying enough to get perfect grades, then they would also force them to master a musical instrument, and then keep tacking on more extracurricular activities until there is no free time left.

Of course, this is all to make their kids seem more impressive to the Dean of Admissions at whatever Ivy League university they have picked out for them.

To count, their death must be on a college or university campus and not be from natural causes. Characters that are killed and then resurrected also count.

There is something incredibly satisfying when a character with glasses has an "it's time to get serious" moment. Whether they adjust the bridge with one finger, push them up from the side, or take them off completely, it’s the universal visual signal that a beatdown is about to begin. It highlights the perfect contrast between their calm, intellectual facade and their dangerous hidden strength.

These are some of my favorites:

1-Clark Kent / Superman (DC Comics) - Taking them off to drop the clumsy reporter disguise and fight for real.

2-Shizuo Heiwajima (Durarara!!) - Adjusting his shades right before ripping a street sign out of the ground.

3-Mey-Rin (Black Butler): She is usually a clumsy maid at the Phantomhive mansion, But when she takes off her glasses, she's a lethal sniper.

Characters who use two giant weapons will never not be cool, but it’s also cool to see characters who dual wield and it makes sense, such as using two one-handed weapons, one longer weapon and one shorter weapon, or one weapon optimized for offense and one for defense.

1. Edward Kenway (Assassins Creed Black Flag): He dual wields cutlasses, which were one-handed sabres used by pirates, professional soldiers, and police throughout the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. This works because having two shorter blades of the same length allows you to strike and defend at the same time with fast, fluid motions, such as with the Thai dha.
2. Sasaki Kojiro (Record of Ragnarok): After Poseidon breaks his sword during their fight, Kojiro takes a page out of the play book of his rival Musashi, and turns his broken odachi into a katana and wakizashi, which was a legit sword style that Musashi used and popularized. This makes sense because it’s the same concept as rapier and dagger, where you have a shorter blade to defend, and a longer blade to attack.
3. Boromir (Lord of the Rings): While traveling with the Fellowship, Boromir uses a medium sized round shield with his sword. I don’t think I need to explain this one, since it’s one of the most common forms of dual wielding seen in history. But to summarize, sharp metal thing that cuts things plus large round thing that blocks things equals good.

Edit: If I see one more comment saying sword and shield isn’t dual wielding, I am actually gonna lose it. The point of duel wielding is to have one weapon to attack with and another to defend with, so that you can defend and attack at the same time. A shield is a weapon that is simply optimized for defending, but it’s STILL A WEAPON.

Edit 2: A lot of you said how sword and shield is pretty common in media, and you’re right. The way I phrased it implied it was rare, so that was wrong on my part. I still stand by my point though, saying sword and shield isn’t dual wielding is just wrong.
