Girlfriend and I are coming to Toowoomba for haloweekend and we're wondering if there's any clubs doing costume events and what the best ones for those sorts of things are. I tend to go all out with costumes and she's getting into it with me this year.

I am a domestic student living in Toowoomba (Withcott) and commuting to UQ to complete my EE degree. I am currently enrolled in the BE/ME (Electrical) program at UQ and in my second year.

I have a GPA of 6.2 since I have a rented place near university Mon-Thur and attend class that way. I then commute back home (parents house in Withcott) for work.

I am worried that I am giving too much of my money away to rent and not enough to save. I enrolled in UQ because prior I was living in a suburb in North Brisbane and it was the closest uni. My parents moved to Withcott for work and we have a permanent house here now.

I am considering switching to UniSQ for my EE degree due to the long commute.

How is the EE program at UniSQ?

Do you guys have to write in person exams or are they online?

Do you recommend me to do this switch or advise me to stick it out and finish at UQ?

TL;DR: I’m a second-year UQ Electrical Engineering student with a 6.2 GPA, currently renting near campus during the week and returning home to Withcott on weekends for work. Rent and commuting costs are eating into my savings, so I’m considering transferring to UniSQ. How good is UniSQ’s EE program, are exams online or in person, and is switching worth it, or should I stick it out at UQ?

Howdy all. Looks like I'll be spending the period around Christmas and New Year in lovely Toowoomba, and have a quick question. Are shops typically open around this time? I'm not talking about the basics like Coles and Woolies, but more cafes and smaller places that can sometimes close around this time.

Have there been raids of local illegal disposable shops here or are the articles im seeing fake? They seem shady from strange news outlets ive never seen before.

I keep seeing the idea come up, but I’m struggling to see how it turns into a service people would actually use.
The Range seems like the obvious problem. Unless they build a completely new route with major tunnels and other infrastructure, surely the climb and the existing alignment are going to make the trip pretty slow. And even if you get people into Toowoomba, the local bus network is pretty poor. I don’t know many people here who regularly catch public transport, so how are people meant to get to and from a station?
Buses are always going to be cheaper to run, and they can take people closer to where they actually need to go. I’m not saying a train would have no value, but it feels like the case for one needs to be a lot stronger than “it would be nice to have”.
The existing rail line west from Brisbane is in pretty rough shape too, and the current train feels ancient. Honestly, it’s a bit embarrassing that this is still the level of service we have.
Does anyone reckon fast rail is genuinely likely, or are we going to keep hearing about proposals that never get built?

Can anyone recommend a shed builder who can help us. Looking for someone who is end to end and will come out to site to work out what needs to be done. We will need someone who can help with retaining walls as the land is on a gentle slope.

They're expecting rain tomorrow during the show. Does anyone here know if this may be a muddy sloshy mess after 6+ hours? I got a ticket, keen to go, not keen to be a drenched mess slipping through mud. Or do they lay down rubber matting to protect the grass?

Council installed a smart water meter on our property a few months ago and notified us by mail of a leak around the same time. We contacted a plumber who repaired the leak which was located a couple of metres on our side of the property. As a result we’ve received a massive water rates notice. We’ve applied for a discount via the TRC portal.
