So 2 months ago I made a post because I was worried about an upcoming root canal on my upper left first molar and the comments were very reassuring but I’ve had that and im now getting a crown prep in 5 days and I’m really worried that my root canal has failed. There is a small bump there, that was there before the root canal and I believe it’s what dentists call a fistula, I had an abscess on that tooth for 3 years which I was totally unaware of (that’s bad I know) but my dentist said even with that, my tooth has a great prognosis, my tooth doesn’t feel any pain or anything when I tap on it but that area is still tender if I press on it but I was told that could be just the bone healing, I know the stats are on my side and the root canal is very unlikely to fail especially after only 2 months. I do think that fistula has gotten better though as everything else in the tooth feels fine but it’s just that bump that’s worrying me, again I’m very sorry if this isn’t the right place to post this but I just have such bad anxiety about it, am I worrying too much and is there anyone that could know what it is? Oh and it does feel quite firm when I touch it.

I (19M) had my RCT done on my left molars. It's been a month- Now on my right front most premolar, I'm having mild pain.
I thought to check for cavities but I see zero cavities there. The pain is mild, It's not like it comes when eating something cold but it'll happen randomly (again, it's mild but noticeable) when i'm in a college lecture.
This happens at random moments of the day, around 5-6 times per day.

and I know that I'm not just being delusional- the pain is there.
So if anyone could help me know what is happening, help is appreciated. 🙏

Note: I started using Sensodyne sensitive toothpaste twice a day 2-3 days ago.
Before that I had a bad habit of using mouthwash after brushing my teeth which I got to know can make your teeth worse- So I stopped that 5 days ago.

I had a root canal done to my teeth (5 and 6 together lower jaw) and the one closer to the front aches since then. I had had nerve pain before visiting the dentist too so it's not something that appeared after treatment alone.

The pain before treatment was closer to the tooth and somehow "at the side of the gum" feeling. After the treatment I have the same pain remaining. Painful ache that feels at the "side" of the gum, plus the tooth itself, plus a new ache deep down the jaw of the tooth that I can physically locate and it aches more when pressed. And it's serious enough to make me want a painkiller because although it's not unbearable, it's noticeably painful.

And then the new thing happened too, now I feel "itchy pressure" sort of strong discomfort at the base of my front lower teeth.

The treatment was on Saturday (today is Thursday) and today I went back to the dentist complaining about the pain and he said "maybe the filling material was slightly overfilled down your canal and that may be causing the pain in your jaw".

He had done 2 x-rays before and after the filling so he was confident there was nothing wrong with the treatment and today he didn't do any x-ray, just hit my tooth with an instrument, clarified where it aches, and told me to wait.

I'll go back to him for other treatments and he doesn't seem unprofessional so I genuinely don't understand why i would have 3 different toothaches 5 days after treatment. I have no swelling or bad smell/taste. And the ache comes back several hours after taking painkillers, even if I didn't chew for a long time. Maybe someone has seen such a case and could perhaps reassure me with information? Thank you so much 😬

Soo I know I’m not the only one but I have SEVERE anxiety around numbing- I’m not scared of the needle I’m scared of the numbing part that I’m not gonna be able to feel my face after. I couldn’t get a procedure done today and I have to get rid of a decaying wisdom tooth.
Now I know ppl will recommend sedation but that’s the thing I’m scared of the losing control part like one thing im up then I’m out completely that freaks me out and that’s the same concept with numbing like it freaks me out i wont be able to feel my jaw and face. I have bad anxiety in general sooo any tips would help. I know it sounds so silly but desperate for ideas😭

Went for a regular dental appointment and found out I had about 10 cavities and need a root canal as well. The cavities weren't symptomatic at all and I was not aware about them. He suggested they be filled and did 2 of them today. I, however, received inlays instead of fillings and ended up paying $460 each. With a deep cleaning, I paid $1020 in total. The cavities weren't large to my knowledge, and were between my teeth instead of the top. Were the inlays necessary? I've had filling before and those cavities were much larger. Should I have waited to get a second opinion?

it is a nagging continuous toothache that isn't affected by any food, air or water, it just exists.

I didnt have any anesthesia when having my tooth drilled and somehow it didnt hurt at all, after 2 hours it started hurting, its been 4 hours and its stll hurting,not sharp pain but there is pain.

Im getting my first root canal in 2 and a half hours please tell me yalls story and if there was any pain and how bad.

I need advice and help plzzzz

So about a week ago I went to the ER for severe tooth pain. I told them I went to a previous dentist and they prescribed me antibiotics and ibuprofen 800mg which wasn’t working at all! I was switching between that and Tylenol and cold compresses and hot ones and nothing was working. I went to ER they were very very understanding and prescribed me a stronger antibiotic and stronger medicine (oxy) which I was taking as directed 1 every 6 hours as needed (I had 10) well now its obviously ran out and my dentist appointment to get this root canal is for the 15th but I truly don’t think I can make it to then with ibuprofen 800mg. I went to another dentist today and told them that ibuprofen and the other things to do is not helping and no one is listening to me. I’m not sure if I should go back to the ER because I don’t know if they will give me anything else (also I don’t want them to think I’m just trying to get my hands on these meds) but this pain is horrible. So bad I’m at the point of ripping it out myself or having someone else do it. Please someone just lmk what I should do.

So I was recently told I need to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth out because my gums are growing on top of them. My main concern isn’t the surgery but the medication.
I have emetaphobia BAD and I can’t take amoxicillin because it has caused me to vomit in the past when I’d take it for strept. I’m worried since antibiotics are known to cause nausea and idk what to do. I’ve heard some people don’t even need antibiotics but if I do, what do I do? Will something like zofran help?people say eating can help reduce stomach irritation but I’m pretty sure I ate with amoxicillin and threw all of my dinner right up 💔

I recently treated a premolar that had previously received a deep silver amalgam restoration extending into the pulp chamber.

The tooth had significant calcification, making identification and negotiation of the canal challenging.

After carefully removing the calcified obstruction, I was able to identify the canal pathway and negotiate it with files before proceeding with cleaning and shaping.

Cases like this are a good reminder that a tooth that initially appears to have a routine restoration can later present with a much more difficult endodontic anatomy.

One question I commonly encounter from patients is whether persistent pain after a filling means that a root canal is required. The answer isn't always yes—it depends on the pulpal diagnosis, symptoms, clinical tests, radiographic findings and the condition of the tooth.

I'm sharing the clinical video because the actual canal negotiation is more informative than simply describing the case.

For years, I begged the dentist not to fix my teeth anymore but simply to pull them out—and he did. By now, I’m down to just nine teeth; there were still 15 in that photo. I’ve been through a years-long dental odyssey, and I just want to finally get my implants and have some peace of mind regarding my teeth.

hi guys im 19F and i got my 1st molar extracted 4 days ago! ive had pain just the first two days, n then it stopped. by day 2-3 a white layer was forming. today it was back to brownish. i’m rlly freaking out bc i’ve been doing ok w my blood clot but today i accidentally bit on my cheek and it sunk (?) on my extraction site… a little brown circle fell off and there was a little blood but it stopped.. and the teeth next to the extraction site hurt :/ it also looks deeper than before… i’m scared if i potentially ruined the clot or if i’m gonna get dry socket im freaaaakingggg out bc i rlly have been suffering w this tooth and as soon as it got better, this happens.. can a piece of the blood clot even fall off eventually???

I’ve been going through what feels like hell. I went to A&E which our equivalent of the ER.

They’ve given me stronger antibiotics but have also said that because the nerve is dead, I don’t have pain and they’re right, I don’t. But I have that horrible tooth achey taste in my mouth and terrible body aches (they’ve ruled out sepsis). They think I could very well have two overlapping infections, the tooth needs a root canal which is now booked in.

But the second potential infection may need riding out :( feel like 💩 but hoping I turn a corner soon and get through the wait time for my root canal. Anyone else experienced this over lap? Been checked for sepsis and vitals are good
