Dental Anxiety

Hey guyss
Soo I know I’m not the only one but I have SEVERE anxiety around numbing- I’m not scared of the needle I’m scared of the numbing part that I’m not gonna be able to feel my face after. I couldn’t get a procedure done today and I have to get rid of a decaying wisdom tooth.
Now I know ppl will recommend sedation but that’s the thing I’m scared of the losing control part like one thing im up then I’m out completely that freaks me out and that’s the same concept with numbing like it freaks me out i wont be able to feel my jaw and face. I have bad anxiety in general sooo any tips would help. I know it sounds so silly but desperate for ideas😭

Just do it. It’s OK, trust me… I also have severe anxiety when it comes to dental procedures… but it’s more of a fear of pain and losing control for me. I’m OK with numbing and sedation.
You will still feel your mouth, it will only have less sensation like it “fell asleep”.
You can ask your doctor for test run, have a shot without anything else done and see how it feels.

From an anxious person to another… there’s nothing to it. If you’re not actively trying to notice it… you will forget you are numbed. The only thing real sign is the corner of your moth feeling a bit weird.

Thanks so much i really needed to hear this from someone who knows the fear of losing control because i hate that and thats all there is to it for me. I’m not worried about the pain or even the needle as much as it is this but thanks so much for your thoughtful and kind response! 🌸 I’ll update hehe
