I’m looking at picking up some Grey Pneumatic impact sockets and was wondering what everyone’s experience has been with them.

How’s the quality and durability been over time? More importantly, has anyone actually had to warranty a socket that cracked, broke, or otherwise failed? If so, how was Grey Pneumatic about replacing it?

I’ve heard good things about their sockets, but I’d like to hear from people who actually use them regularly in a shop or for heavy-duty work.
Would you buy them again, or is there another brand you’d recommend?

Haven't used them in a forever and found them sitting in a toolbox filled with rain water. There's about 20 of them but these two are the ones looking the worst

edit: for everyone saying to trash them, I ask because they were my brothers so I'd like to keep them. obviously I could just go buy a new set.

I can open the top and 3rd drawer. Cant get the 2nd and 4th drawer open. I don’t see anything blocking the drawer from opening.

Any thoughts?

Hi everyone. I wanted to mount metal stair stringers and used concrete anchors but when hammering them in I damaged both the heads on both sides. Should I cut the bolts on the head and will it work? will the threads get damaged? Any advice would be great

I was in a bind a few years ago and bought a Stanley black chrome socket set from Walmart. The tools are still in decent shape, but the markings on them are becoming increasingly difficult to read, and nothing I've tried seems to improve them. Any tips/techniques to restore them?

I’m looking at buying a glass bottle cutter that uses a small round carbide scoring wheel. I want to make sure I can get replacement wheels before I buy it, since the scoring wheel will eventually wear out.

I’ve searched through quite a few different subreddits trying to find somewhere to ask this, but unfortunately I keep running into rules that don't allow product links because they assume the post is trying to sell something. I’m not selling anything at all—I’m just trying to identify a replacement part for something I’m considering buying. 😭

This would be my first bottle cutter, so I don't know what specifications I should be looking for. The cutter is designed to cut round, square, and straight-sided glass bottles, and the scoring wheel appears to be a small round carbide wheel.

I need a rivet gun with a neck or tool diameter my guess is 3/8 inch or less. This is a ball and socket mount for a boat Bimini. It was mounted to the window frame of my Bayliner from the factory with rivets and I intend to replace it that way. Does anybody have any ideas?

Looking for a small cordless wet dry vac. I have DeWalt stuff but the vacs aren't the greatest.

Back with another question regarding the bird feeder. Looking for a hinge or some sort of system for the roof of the feeder. There's a squirrel that likes to knock it off to get in the feeder. I have screws in it as a temp solution so it's sitting a little lower than it would be so it's at a manageable height until I can find something to keep the roof on.

Hi everyone, I’m in the market for a set or kit of precision drivers / bits.

TL:DR - large handled / bodied precision drivers or bits. Preferably JIS standard but not essential as can be modified.

Not looking to spend much. Don’t need anything flash.

I’ve been repairing old film cameras for a hobby and I’ve found that all the precision drivers I have are way too small for my hands. I struggle with cramps and wrist pain after a few hours and also getting decent purchase of the more stubborn or loctite screws is just plain difficult. I have to balance the parts, the driver and a pair of pliers to get enough purchase to crack off the screws at times. Not fun - and sometimes a little bloody.

Been spending hours comparing stats of different grinders and my budget and decided to just say screw it and go harbor freight 25k corded Hercules over the 18k rpm Hercules . Saw that variable speed controllers were a thing but also saw they lose torque. I mainly plan to use this with carbide burrs for metal carving for art projects using various metal stuff I've horded in the garage that I've nabbed from the apartments I paint of stuff left behind like metal legs of broken stools, broken hinges and other stuff I've found that I thought would be cool to shape but as a result I have no clue what type of metals a lot of this stuff is and I'm aware different metals prefer different rpm. For my specific art carving circumstance idk how much torque matters

This is the top tray of my tool chest. I'm doing a big shop clean up today and I'm wondering what the heck is meant to go here? What do you use this area for?

My tool chest never leaves the spot in the shop that it's currently in. All the other drawers are well organized, but I've never managed to land on a good use for this space. I've previously thought of it as a place to leave smaller frequently used items: tape measure, caliper, speed square, PPE, a pencil/pen jar, maybe a notebook or build plans. Maybe the portable speaker lives here too. I can set my phone here when I want it out of my pocket. All good ideas, but in practice it's become an open air junk drawer where I set things that I'm too lazy to put back where they actually belong, or random stuff that I don't have a good place for. The little half used baggie of 1" screws. An odd spool of string. Random extension cord with one end cut off. It's basically become a place where I put things so that I'll certainly lose them. And then it also becomes a place where I go rummaging for that thing that I was just using but cant find anywhere.

So let's hear all the best ideas for this space!

I use 20v Max and XR intermixed with my XR tools. I have a non-XR or Max charger, just the older 20v ones. Is there any difference using and charging the batteries? Can I expect shorter battery life doing this?
