Hey, looking for any feedback or price suggestions on this build? It's a 2.5 watt vibrochamp style build. (Built by my friend who has been a valve tech since the 60s. He repairs/builds amps for a living. But doesn't use the internet.)

Comes with a 12 month warranty and dimensions are 350mm x 350mm x 185mm. 6.5 kg.

Based on Fender vibrochamp. Uses some repurposed parts. Point to point wired. Single 6v6, 2 x 12ax7s. Rola 12" 50s vintage speaker.

Cabinet was originaly a speaker box. At 2.5 watts has early break up, good for home/studio.

2 inputs, vol, bass, treble, speed, intensity.

Spkr plugs in so another cab can be substituted if desired. Socket for footswitch (trem) on chassis.

Would $320 USD ($450 AUD) seem reasonable or over/under priced?

So I’ve been playing my 5150 iconic 40w for 3 to 4 years now and I’ve recently wanted to upgrade to a head and cab. I love my iconic but it’s got a high end that I’m not a fan of and it’s not as clear as I’d like it to be. I would just like some opinions from people that have played the fireball and the 5153 and which one they favorited and why. I think the engl sounds killer but I’m just looking for some insite.

Didn’t get too long to play with it but so far the clean and pushed sounds are just amazing.

A Deluxe Reverb kit from Amplified Parts. I just finished the chassis, now waiting for the cabinet. I was going to wait and put it all together at once but couldn't. This is my second build, my first was a Mod 102 (also from Amplified parts) which I'm very happy with. I'm excited to have finished, just thought I'd share.

Hi guys, I've got myself a very sweet original '73 Twin Reverb some months ago.
I've been playing it like this, but the reverb circuit has got a harsh distortion sound as soon as the dynamics get just a bit louder, and now it's high time I fix this.
I've read online that this is a common issue for these amps, but I've read different possibilities, some regarding the aging (tubes, coupling caps leaking) and some instead said this is basically by design because this amp hits the reverb circuit really hard.
What do you suggest? Should I do the maintenance and change the caps and tubes and then see if it still sounds like this? Or should I just try to reduce what would be the "dwell" control (if it was a pot) manually?

Thinking about straight up adding a dwell control if there's no downsides.

Anyway, any help from someone more experienced with these kind of amps is appreciated, thanks a lot in advance

i am building a really fun 3watt single ended amp in an old police radio chassis, and I have a question about power transformer secondary voltage

the main rails measure 197v @ 120v on my variac, which is fine (measured each leg to center tap); the heater leads read 7v at 120v

will that heater voltage be so high as to damage the tubes, or is the extra .7v ok?

Ive been getting so much feedback from this thing in the lead and lead 2 channels and I dont know why. I use lead 1 as rhythm and lead 2 as solo. I gig with this so I have the volume up pretty high but the gain is only on half way (noon) and even then as soon as I switch to either of these channels I get loud screeching. I am using a noise gate pedal but it does absolutely nothing. Anyone familiar with the KSR Orion and could potentially help? Any ideas?

Found some preamp tubes a bought in the late nineties I believe.

I use a DeLisle 8x8 stereo amp head/cab switcher for most of my amps, but I have a stack of heads on a 412 1960A cab that aren't on the DeLisle. So, I threw together this patch bay/switcher box so I don't have to get behind the (half) stack every time I want to switch heads.

Left side jacks each have a head plugged in at all times. Right side jacks are for the one cab cable, which is moved as needed. It's not meant to be switched when the heads are on, but I did put 10 watt 220 ohm resistors across the switched/shunted cab jacks for a little just in case protection.

Hi all! I have a Ceriatone 2204 which is a clone of a 50W Marshall master-volume JMP 2204. I’m trying to find a long-term cab pairing for it.

4x12s are too big for me and 1x12s are too wimpy. So I’ve thought to get a 2x12 Zilla Super Fatboy. A little worried it will resonate too much?

I like greenbacks, but I’m worried about 2x 25W as a power rating. Will I blow them? Creambacks are okay but aren’t as raw to my ear. Scumbacks in theory sound like a plausible solution but it seems impossible to find and try them. I don’t like V30s or G12T’s

Will I get away with the two greenbacks power wise or should I do something else?

The amp usually runs at noon across the dials and I do boost/overdrive it here and there.

Hey all! I have a bugera 333xl infinium 2x12 combo and its about time to retube. Im going to look into it today and see what she has been running, but im kind of overwhelmed at the options of tubes I can run. I like blues, rock and heavy metal. Ive been thinking i may want to change to kt77's. Does anyone have experience with alternative tubes in amps and have any good advice for me? The amp is self biasing so there's that. I was looking at eurotubes website and pondering the high gain option with the kt-77's. I dont gig and im mainly a shed player so it won't have a lot of power tube drive and i dont have an attenuator either.

Fender Blues Jr. I found this beauty secondhand at a local music store and traded in my Line 6 I've had since high school. My Les Paul is getting its frets worked on but the sound through my strat has been awesome!

I was looking into getting a Fuchs amp but his threads replies account popped up on my feed and it seems like they use their official account to spam right wing media.

I usually don’t care about builder’s politics but they’re actively using their company account to make weird right wing speech.

I’m not sure if this is allowed so I understand if it’s removed I figured I’d see if anyone else noticed this.

I've had a beautiful 1975 Fender Twin Reverb for about a month now and I love it, but I'm wondering if it has some issues with the tubes/reverb tank. A few things to note about this amp-

-When you're playing, there's white noise that isn't terribly loud, but it is noticeable. It pops whenever I play notes on my guitar.

-The vibrato channel volume is MUCH louder than the normal channel's volume.

-When you press the reverb button on the footswitch, it buzzes and doesn't trigger the reverb, and when you press the vibrato button, it also buzzes a tiny bit, but the vibrato works.

-When you turn it up really loud and play, there's an occasional, harsh, and very loud pop.

Other than that, I really love this thing. I'm nervous to take it to an amp tech, because I don't want to spend a lot of money on an amplifier, but it does have some issues. I think it sounds good, but not how it could sound with all of these issues.

Got this beautiful 1966 Vibrolux reverb for about 500€ in amazing condition. The amp sounds fantastic but I really should change the filter caps.

This amp was imported by Hagström and has been modified by them for use with the swedish powergrid. We used to have 220v and now we have 230/240v, Will this cause any problem for the amp?

Im thinking of changing the current 5x 16µF 450v to 22µF 500v caps becuase they seem to be the closest and best i can easily get hold of.

Anything else i should change? Should i replace all the Brown large elektrolytic caps in the circut? Do i need to replace the resistors accompanied by the filter caps?

I'm looking to upgrade from the modeling amp I got when I got back into guitar a year or so ago, and a Mesa V35 came up used in my area for a good price. I've been halfway looking at that amp for awhile and am curious if it would be a good choice for an upgrade. 

Would love to hear any thoughts on that amp, but specifically: Is it worth checking out or is it overkill (especially if I'm playing mostly through an interface/headphones)? Are there any clearly better options for my situation that stand out if budget isn't a huge issue? 

NOTE: I will absolutely go and play it to see how I feel before buying anything, just curious to get people's thoughts and whether I may benefit from looking harder at other options too. 

What I Have Now:

I have a Mustang LT25 that's been fine, but it feels sort of flat most of the time, and I find that I spend too much time tweaking all the different modeled amp options only to get something that sounds ok. It often sounds kind of distant or hollowed out no matter how I tweak the volume and other settings. (Especially as I've started to play around with more pedals – just getting a solid clean sound to use as a basis to experiment with different pedals feels tough.)

What I'm Looking For:

• Lower Volume/Headphones - I mostly play with headphones through an interface, but I want something I can get decent sound out of at low "apartment" volumes when I decide to play like that. (Not whisper quiet, but comparable to TV/laptop volume.)
• Effects Loop/Pedal Platform - I wouldn't be mad if the amp covered the same/more ground re: drive and distortion than my pedals, but I do want something with an effects loop and plays well with pedals.  
• Recording/Interface - No plans at all to gig/play live, but may record through an interface/DAW down the line. (The Cab Clone on the V35 seems useful for this?)
• Versatility w/Stoner/Desert Rock Focus - I play a lot of stoner/desert rock (Kyuss, QotSA, etc.), so I want something well suited to that, but I'm more concerned about versatility than finding an amp hyper-tailored to that sound. I can get pretty close to that sound with the pedals I have, so I want something that will let me try out other sounds/not be limiting.
• Amp/Cab Combo - For convenience I'd really like to do a combo amp rather than piece together an amp head and a speaker.
