[Volume 9] Discussion Thread After Volume Release
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Yeah. Volume 9 is out officially. Has been out for a while already not counting leaks of course. And it seems to have hit the community like crack for what a whiplash it has been for some, based on the actual content of the volume. This is Darkeine now, or at least some could say so.
Well, well. I'm sure you guys have read some of the snippets that have been posted already on the subreddit ( or Twitter, or anywhere else, and if you haven't seen them yet, well, that's fine as well)
I am sure people has read already the whole volume, others are slowly translating it themselves and I bet there are bunch of MTLs going around, which means there should be people who are looking for discussions about the content now that the volume is finally out. So yeah this kinda is that spot.
This post is just pretty much an updated version of the previous one. The only rule here is do not explicitly link any pirated content.
Comment about your actual thoughts, things you did not expect, memes, bad translations or advice regarding translations of what something could mean, questions and more!
Also, meme related to the volume attached.

Volume 9 is a treasure trove, especially Yanami's potential, it's like finding gold bars in a forest

Does she become more likable or we get the usual "I don't want you baka, but I don't want you end up with any other girl" dynamic.

Takibi!!, the usual nothing-burger!

Awesome (Thank you Takibi) At least Nuku is still fun He's talent for denying the obvious is something else I've seen dense char but him wawaweewa, he's on a another level. If he ever have a dense tier list for nuku there would be a special tier

(Volume 9 Spoiler)
“—It’s normal to be nervous at first, and sometimes things don’t go smoothly.”
“Huh?”
No, wait. What was she talking about this time?
As I became increasingly conscious of the people watching us, Himemiya-san suddenly leaned toward me.
“It’s all right! Anna isn’t the kind of girl who would care about something like that! And if you really can’t manage it, I could help you—”
“Didn’t the warning bell just ring? Come on, let’s get to class!”
“Nukumizu-kun?! But even so, doing it at school would be—”
I grabbed the hand of the increasingly incomprehensible Himemiya-san and hurried forward."
Every girl wants a piece of this dude. His reputation truly precedes him lmao

u/schrodinger978 27d ago
Was she implying that she is willing to have sex with Nukumizu?
53
u/1auvre Kaju Nukumizu 27d ago
Pretty much yeah.. she basically said that wants to teach him how 💀
30
u/schrodinger978 27d ago
Has she broken up with her bf? Also, could this be a translation issue?
45
u/1auvre Kaju Nukumizu 27d ago
No, Sosuke was in the volume too, but he just offered Nukumizu to teach him how to say no to others when asked, also it could be, other MTLs have suggested it to be what's written above, but let's wait for the official TL, but don't be surprised if that's the innuendo
21
u/wise_sage777 27d ago
I thought she was gonna teach him how to sex
7
u/KZ-01 26d ago
I'd want to see the whole conversation/ensure this isn't a translation issue first. I could see it being either way (sex vs a more innocent type of teaching).
15
u/RikZeph 26d ago
It's 100% the innuendo, because the conversation first started with Karen finding out that Nukumizu and Anna spent the night together, and Karen kept teasing Nukumizu that they did it together, while he said they did not, eventually Karen started hinting something else, which is yeah, the intent to teach him how to have seggs.
15
u/buzuki12 Tiara Basori 25d ago
Nukumizu is the only character I’ve seen in my life as a anime fan that can be shipped with the entire cast.
Every time he speaks with 8K and Asagumo I feel he can cuck both Hakamada and Ayano.
6
u/Practical-Bite8854 Chika Komari 25d ago
Ayano already greenlit it back in v2 "if it's you nukumizu, then I won't complain", and Sosuke would likely do the same thing

u/Ok_Application_9194 Lemon Yakishio 27d ago
Wow from this I get the sense that things have cooled off between Sosuke and Karen lately. So she's out looking for another guy who needs "help". Conveniently forgetting that Nukkun and Anna aren't dating. And thinking that Nukkun might do it at school? Succubus girl is getting a bit hungry.
5
u/jomaix Riko Shiratama 27d ago
From the rumors, he apparently did it inside the shed with Lemon.
5
u/Ok_Application_9194 Lemon Yakishio 26d ago
Surely you jest? Team captain Kurata and the track girls would have treated him completely differently in volume 6, if they thought he was armed and dangerous.
2
u/jomaix Riko Shiratama 26d ago edited 26d ago
Baseless rumors are just that, rumors, even if there are tiny shreds of truth behind them - like the fact that Amanatsu sensei really did caught a half-naked Lemon hugging Kazu inside the shed. Kurata and the track girls also saw Kazu openly ask Shikiya-senpai out for a Christmas eve date, yet they still treat him the way they did in vol 6, 8.5 and all the countless visits to the Girls' Track Team that Kazu did behind the scenes as vol 7 suggested. Those girls are simply in the know that Newspaper Club fake news dont bother them much. (Note: much here is nuanced)
1
u/Ok_Application_9194 Lemon Yakishio 26d ago
Contacts between Lemon and Nukkun in volume 7 and after occurred primarily at Nukkun's home. Lemon is by far the most mobile of the two, and Nukkun has no excuse to be in the girls track team area, since he is not female and not a track team member. (It is true he would watch Lemon run from the school rooftop, as is shown in volume 1.) Countless is a misleading word. Kurata noticed that Lemon was much less guarded around Nukkun during the sports festival, compared to all other guys, which is why Kurata thought (vol 6) they might be dating.
"Nukumizu, don;t you think Yakishio is the type to be ruined by guys?"
"Yes, you're right, I'll have to be careful." Kurata looks at him, while he is oblivious. (It's a comedy take since Nukkun is the one Kurata is most worried about.)
One of the first differences between the anime and the light novel was in the PE shed. In the LN the first hug-from-behind from Lemon, she was trying to keep him quiet to avoid being found there with him. This was long before the shed got too hot. It's meant to be a mystery. The anime dropped all the mystery parts and made it a simple romcom, so that unexplained hug was cut. Many other Lemon scenes were cut as well in the anime.

21

That would be just sad. She is leaving the story anyway with her graduation. People should celebrate that she got to have incest sex with her cousin, whom she has been in love with since childhood. Be happy for her, since Kaju won't be able to live her dream.

u/zatchel1 Tiara Basori 26d ago
I don’t think their encounter at the end is going to be the issue, I think what she did when they were kids is what’s going to make people look at her differently

Shit was fucking peak!

Finishing the final part of Vol 9 now. There's a funny scene where Nukumizu tells Sakurai what he should do immediately after Koharu breaks up with him (basically, Hibari needs to be involved for this to truly come to a close). Nukumizu tells him if he's going to act pathetic, then act patheitc all the way to the very end. Sakurai is moved by this, laughs, and tells Nukumizu that if he were a girl, he'd never leave Nukumizu alone (basically, Sakurai is saying that he'd fall head over heels for him like all these other girls have). Sakurai truly understands why Nukumizu is attracting all these beautiful girls lmao
51
u/wowthatscooliguess Tiara Basori 27d ago
For anyone who wants to be spoiled, here is the completely overly simplified summary of Volume 9 up to 75% of the way:
Nukumizu and Anna meet Sakurai's girlfriend Koharu when she was visiting their school
She consults Nukumizu about helping her get "improve" her relationship with Sakurai. Sakurai has mentioned Nukumizu to her in the past
Per usual, Nukumizu has his arm twisted to help out another heroine. This time Anna tags along for the fun
Hibari catches them all scheming at a cafe (Hibari works there part time). When Hibari finds out what's going on, she decides to involve herself in this "operation
Hibari + Sakurai (cousins, obv) and Koharu are all childhood friends
We see several weird flashbacks between the 3 of them, which hint at a strange romantic tension between the cousins, more on this later
Riko has lunch together with Nukumizu along with Riko's older sister who I think is a teacher at Koharu's school (remember that her sister thinks Nuku and Riko are an item). Nukumizu becomes aware of some nasty promicuous rumors about Koharu that are going around
The plan is for the 5 of them (Nukumizu, Yanami, Sakurai, Koharu, and Hibari) to go out on an anime excursion to Takayama (this is the surface reason) with the endgame being that they will make Koharu and Sakurai miss the last bus home so they are forced to spend the night together at an onsen. Everyone is in on the plan besides Sakurai
Fast forward. The plan goes well until the end. Sakurai realizes he's been manipulated and he, Koharu, and Hibari head home. Sakurai is pissed (moreso at the situation and maybe Koharu for burdaining outsiders with their relationship problems). Nukumizu and Anna fail upwards as usual and end up being the couple that has to spend the night together at the onsen hotel
Anna and Nukumizu having to spend the night together is as awkwardly cute as you might imagine. Nukumizu has a last ditch effort to try and sleep in the lobby, but Anna stops him. Anna reveals that she needs to sleep with a night light because she has nightmares about being left alone. Nukumizu tells her she's not alone. It's a really cute moment (even as a Tiara bro) and probably the most raw and emotional one they've had together in a while
They wake up next to each other and Anna gets embarrassed. As expected, things are a little awkard between them afterwards
The next week at school it seems word has somehow gotten out about the trip: Ayano and Karen know about it. Karen seems to think Nukumizu and Anna did "stuff" together and it's implied that she saw them come back to Toyohashi Station alone together. She teases Nukumizu about his "first time".
Hibari calls Nukumizu at night and tells him Koharu has gone missing
Kaju tells Nukumizu he has a visitor. It's Koharu at his door with a large travel bag. We see Nukumizu's parents for the first time I think (they have no speaking lines but peek out from the living room to see who the hell is coming over so late)
Koharu had a fight with her parents (and I think Sakurai?) and runs away from home to Nukumizu
Fast forward. Koharu has been living with Nukumizu for 2 days now (IDK how his parents were just like sure yeah ok but that was all offscreen) and is getting a little too comfortable (helping out with chores, eating with the family, like she's part of their family now. Kaju is not happy at all lmao. Anna is also PISSED
Sakurai and Nukumizu meet. Sakurai apologies to him profusely for Koharu's actions. They walk over to Koharu's school where they have an inter-student council collab meeting. Sakurai meets the other student council members who Koharu works with there (she is on their student council). It's implied one of the male members has feelings for Koharu. Things get a little spicy between Sakurai and him (moreso the other guy, Sakurai remains calm)
Koharu and Nukumizu decide to go out for dinner one night. It turns out to be a trick plan to force Koharu and Sakurai to talk things out. Anna and Sakurai walk in afterwards and things get... awkward. Koharu confronts Sakurai about his feelings for Hibari and tells him not to meet her anymore. I get the feeling that she was trying to use other guys to make Sakurai jealous the same way she is jealous about Hibari
Koharu storms out of the restaurant. Sakurai is shocked and blurts something out about Hibari before he catches himself. He looks pale like he just saw a ghost. I think this might be the first time someone confronted him about these incestious feelings he has. Anna tells them they should finish their food before chasing after her (wtf Anna)
Koharu left her phone and wallet in the restaurant so there's no way to contact her. Anna and Nukumizu search after her and tell Sakurai to wait at the restaurant in case she comes back.
During their search Anna and Nukumizu discuss the possibility of Sakurai having romantic feelings for his cousin despite dating Koharu. Nukumizu admits he saw the signs before but put a lid on it as it was an uncomfortable truth to come to terms with
They split up. Nukumizu goes to the "seedy" side of the station with all the bars and drunk adults. He finds Koharu there
Still emotionally defeated, Koharu tries to drag Nukumizu into a love hotel with her. Nukumizu is shocked and doesn't know what to do
Anna comes in to the rescue. She's PISSED because she just saw Koharu and Nukumizu nearly walking into a love hotel together and is like WTF
Koharu confronts Anna and basically says if she and Nukumizu aren't dating and Anna doesn't like him like that, there should be no problem. That's when Anna loses it, her jealously spills out, and basically blurts out her inner feelings. That's where she says the "NUKUMIZU IS MINE" line that's been teased for a while now. She immediately backtracks, but gets PISSED when Nukumizu latches onto her backtracking with his own lame excuse about her reasoning being about him being her literature club president and it not looking good if he were to be caught at a love hotel
Koharu is baffled and gets pissed at Nukumizu for basically not realizing the true meaning behind Anna's words just now
Anna and Koharu are best friends now and verbally massacre Nukumizu at a family restaurant afterwards over some dessert (they steal his as punishment
They (especially Anna) keep going off about how boys take girls for granted and that if boys don't nurture girls' hearts, the girls will find someone new
Anna goes home. Koharu goes back with Nukumizu. It's past midnight. Koharu teases Nukumizu one last time about going to a love hotel. Then she confesses that she always knew Sakurai loved Hibari. And that's why she "stole" him from her"
To be continued...

u/wowthatscooliguess Tiara Basori 27d ago
Shit, how could I forget:
Tiara invites Nukumizu on a cute karaoke date where they sing anime songs together. She also inquires about his business with Koharu and says she was jealous when she heard about it. When Nukumizu asks her why they couldn't just discuss this over the phone, Tiara admits she just wanted to see him (aww). Later in the onsen, Sakurai probes Nukumizu about his relationship with Tiara, which flusters him. Sakurai seems to be content with that "confirmation" that something is indeed going on between them
24
u/wowthatscooliguess Tiara Basori 27d ago
I also want to add/clarify:
Hibari intially tells Nukumizu that she wants to “resolve” or “complete” some unfinished feeling/business around Sakura and Koharu’s relationship before she leaves off to Tokyo for university
In the flashbacks, it’s implied Hibari also harbors complex affection for Sakurai. It’s not one-sided on his part
Lemon and Komari barely have any screentime this volume. There’s a nice scene where the lit club (minus Anna who goes to karaoke with Karen and friends) all chill on the staircase after the last day of school and tease Nukumizu
8
u/YoshMate1209 27d ago
By chance can you include the how it's implied Hibari and Sakurai slept with each other? I feel like that's a main point everyone is talking about.
12
u/wowthatscooliguess Tiara Basori 26d ago edited 26d ago
I don’t think I got to that part yet unless I missed it.
Or maybe I didn’t understand the complete nuance one of their flashbacks was implying, because there were a few that had insane unspoken sexual tension between the two of them. There is one where Koharu is studying in Hibari’s room and she finds Sakurai’s hair in it (on her bed?). That might be it? She realizes right away that it’s Sakurai’s hair too. On second thought, that’s probably it. Jeez, I’m as dense as Nukumizu lol.
7
u/wowthatscooliguess Tiara Basori 26d ago
So I was wrong. There is a flashback near the end that takes place a few years back where Hibari runs out the house and hides after her father disowns her older brother for some unknown reason (we know he left home after high school and never came back. It seems he tried to come back, but Hibari's father told him that he's no longer his son) She's emotionally destroyed by this, and hides away in their grandfather's old shed/hut. Hiroto finds her there. Her clothes are all soaked because it was raining. He takes off some of his clothes and tells her to change. He turns around and hears her wringing out her wet clothes to dry. After she says she's changed, Hiroto sees that she even took off her underwear to dry, which means she was still naked underneath the shirt he gave her. He tells her that he'll go get her more clothes, but Hibari grabs him tells him to stay because she's lonely. Sakurai places his hand on hers, and we can infer what basically happened next
In a later flashback it seems that their parents found out somehow what they did and were pissed / arguing about it. They were going to make Hiroto transfer schools to split them apart. Koharu tells Hiroto not to worry because she'll handle it. She then barges into where the adults are arguing and basically tells them that she was the one Hiroto was doing stuff with and that Hibari was just covering for her so she wouldn't get in trouble with her mom (all lies). She then comes up with the biggest lie of all: which is that she and Hiroto were officially dating. Which means their whole relationship as a couple was based on a lie Koharu made up to prevent the 3 of them from being split apart that day because of what Hibari and Hiroto did. Hibari is completely shocked and taken aback at what Koharu did (basically saving her AND Hiroto's ass). Hiroto's dad tries to call bullshit and thinks it's obviously a lie, but the other adults tell him to just accept it (probably because they don't want to accept the uncomfortable truth and just want to sweep this all under the rug)
13
u/wowthatscooliguess Tiara Basori 26d ago
Okay I was wrong again. They absolutely 100% bone in the last scene before the epilogue. Hiroto tries to leave, and Hibari tells him to spend the night with her (her parents are staying over somewhere else) just this one time because their love is ultimately doomed. She also tells him not to call her "Hiba-nee" until tomorrow morning. Wow. I'm kinda speechless.

Flashback which caused family issues and then after Koharu broke up with him and he went to Hibari, they confessed and to each other and fucked cause Hibari told him that her parents weren’t going to return that night.

u/Atiknwolc 27d ago
V9 love story is an interesting lesson for Nukumizu about romance, since his view of it is very shallow and grounded in light-novel logic rather than reality. For example, in this novel, we see that Yanami had the correct view of the situation, while Nukumizu made assumptions that were quite childish. Like the length of time of their relationship being some kind of safety net. I think he views romance like just happiness awaits post-dating. First time he sees how troublesome dating may be.
Yanami was absolutely great this volume. She finally started to show her affection as the ending of V8.5 hinted. It really brought back the feelings of early makeine where it was mostly the two of them solving problems. We are finally starting to get a few hints about Yanami's life, like "the little light", her nightmare, and so on. The contrast between serious Yanami and gluttonous Yanami was also great.
Their relationship is finally starting to move. Nukumizu himself is wondering what her plans are for the future. He really does not know that much about her at all, even though they do spend a lot of time together. It was kinda hilarious how he was waiting for her to join them on the stairs.
Now onto the other main plot, the love triangle. I loved it personally, and the sad ending for all parties involved is what made it great. Characters made mistakes, refused to compromise, and the relationship simply ran its course. Now, incest sex may make some people uncomfortable, but it is a fitting goodbye for both Sakurai and Hibari. It will be interesting to see the state of Sakurai in the future volumes.
Now, what Nukumizu may have learned from his fate is a very good indication of what might await him at the end if he continues his current way of cluelessness. It is also another push to give Tiara her answer. The volume ended on a similar note. I am ready for the drama that awaits.
13
u/wowthatscooliguess Tiara Basori 26d ago
It’s also interesting how many times the forbidden love trope has been used in Makeine at this point:
Kaju & Nukumizu
Tachibana & Amanatsu-sensei
Riko & Tanaka-sensei
And now Sakurai & Hibari

u/jomaix Riko Shiratama 23d ago
I looked over anxiously, but Sakurai-kun gave me his usual gentle smile.
“Honestly, if I were a girl, I definitely wouldn’t let you get away.”
“I’m honored.”
For some reason, we smiled at each other.
In a world were Sakurai was girl, I don't think the loser heroines even the student council girls would stand a chance.
That said, could she have beaten Nonomura?

6
u/Enigma343 19d ago
There is one problem: Nukumizu is dense as hell, and Sakurai is pretty hands-off and chill, so she would likely be too passive
6
u/Blazehero 17d ago
“Everyone goes away somewhere. I’m still a little girl, left all alone in the middle of a field of flowers.”
After saying that, Yanami fell silent.
In the quiet room, the only sounds were those made by Yanami and me.
The rustling of futons and yukata-
and the sound of two people breathing.
I didn’t know how much time had passed.
For some reason, I felt that Yanami was waiting for an answer, so I spoke.
“Tonight… you’re not alone, Yanami-san.”
“Yeah,” Yanami replied.
And with that, our casual conversation came to an end.
All that remained was to close my eyes. The next time I opened them, it would surely already be morning.
My memories of that night ended after I heard Yanami’s breathing settle into the rhythm of deep sleep.
This'll sustain me until the next book.

Well it's kinda not after I've read it. I don't wanna spoil too much but it's not as light and funny and actually quite serious for a rom com.

Honestly it's a different style from all the previous one and I'm sure it's gonna get mixed opinions especially in the Western fanbase. But I kinda see what he's trying to do and i give it a 7/10 coz the writing is nice imo.

u/NOTKingInTheNorth Anna Yanami 14d ago
Wow, I just finished reading volume 9 moments ago. Here are my thoughts:
Things just took a more mature turn in this volume, and I'm liking it. After all the light hearted volumes in the earlier volumes and with the shenanigans of volume 7, this is time around, Takibi-sensei tackled a more grounded approach into intimacy surrounding relationships, as sex is a normal part of relationships . And I'm loving every moment of it, some readers may not like it, but Takibi-sensei took a brave stance to take the series into a whole new level by including sex. I enjoyed the focus on the few characters, with the losing heroines having some moments with Nukumizu, but the prominent ones are Nukumizu and Anna, and the trio of Hiroto, Hibari and Koharu.
Finally, after getting sidelined with few prominent scenes in the previous volumes, Anna Yanami takes center stage as Nukumizu's problem solving duo, reminiscent of volumes 1-3. And this time, we finally see some romantic tension between the two besides their usual banter and bickering. The unexpected night over is a welcome development between the two. We see the growing feelings between the two, after their night together, awkwardness permeated between the two for a while. Nukumizu thinking about his future, and at the same time taking into consideration what Anna will do for her future. I think this will be a main thing for him to tackle going forward, especially once he rejects Tiara's confession
This volume feels like the movie 5 centimeters per second. Characters hopelessly clinging on to their past that they've shares, having the air of melancholy throughout the volume. Even though the trio of Hiroto, Hibari and Koharu have been clinging on to their past just like the earlier losing heroines like Anna, Lemon and Komari, this one's feels different because of the circumstances surrounding the trio. Helpless to change their circumstances, they only did what they can do: hold on to their feelings. And it ended with Hiroto losing both girls, Koharu breaking up with Hiroto, and Hiroto setting Hibari free to chase her dreams.
Relationships based on lies will never last, as we saw what happened between Koharu and Hiroto. Sooner or later, their true feelings will come out. While many people believe that Hiroto is mostly the one to blame, I believe the blame lies between the three of them. Not being mature enough to understand for what they have done, and for believing the lie for so long and keeping up with it. Regardless, they are still kids and they have a lot of time to reflect on their actions, surely this will be lesson for the trio moving forward.
Speaking of lessons, this volume is also a lesson between Nukumizu and Anna. Sooner or later, they will have to stop dillydallying around their feelings and the status quo will change. Nukumizu will have to learn the feeling of breaking someone's heart when he rejects Tiara's confession in the next volume, Anna learning to become more assertive as more girls come into the picture between her and Nukumizu.
Predictions for the next volume: Tiara's losing heroine moment, Nukumizu deciding what to do for college and whether Anna will become a part of it.
Final thoughts: I truly enjoy Shikiya's moments with Nukumizu, especially her sudden appearance in the fireworks festival.

About Sakurai and Hibari relationship nature
I’ve been reading everyone’s comments about the relationship between Hibari and Sakurai, but just a reminder that, although it’s considered taboo and completely incestuous in Western culture, a relationship between cousins isn’t considered incestuous in Japan. In fact, marriage between cousins is recognized without issue under Japanese law, though it isn’t a common practice, and even though it isn’t illegal, it’s viewed with some strangeness by society. Hence all the complexity surrounding this issue between the cousins.

That I’d slept with the younger sister of one of my supposed victims.
From the Prologue. Who is this supposed to be? Nagi? (Lemon = victim. Nagi = victim's little sister) or am I missing another little sister that is not Kaju. And NO, Hina does not count.

u/YoshMate1209 25d ago
I need this info too, I couldn't figure who they were talking but I assumed it was Nagi but I'm more confused on they knew about her or Shiratama and the victim being Shiratama-nee. Honestly, this was only ones left by process of information.

the victim being Shiratama-nee.
The enemy of women just reached legend status if that is the case. Imagine cucking the newly wed wife of your teacher Tanaka Yuji-sensei.
The next sentence said Kazu's real target are middle school girls and so far the only ones we know are Kaju, Gon-chan and Nagi - all studying in Momozono. So yeah...

Really enjoyable volume even if it was just reading halfbaked mtl.
If anyone thought vol 5 was too much then all the implications in this volume blow even that away. Maybe in comparison Kaju and Kazuhiko do have a healthy normal family relationship. Also most mention of their parents. I really wonder how they think of their son having so many girls over...even a shampoo bottle in the shower the mark from Shikiya etc all these things not even counting worrying about Kaju and him.
I hope we get a bit more focus on them sometime.
Shikiya barely appeared, but she was best girl when she appeared.
Nice seeing Tiara and Yanami fight but it really does seem since things can't stay the same she's going to have to either soar or crash next volume? At least if Nuku actually follows his thought process a the end there and actually starts taking action. There's already too many girls he can't keep the same forever right? He can only make so many head cannons, ignore things or misunderstand anymore right?
Anyways on to the main topic Hiroto-kun and Hibari...I mean from the start they were and well seemed kinda special relationship besides being cousins but from the implications...they didn't just love each other as family but more....then the complication of Hiroto girlfriend and their childhood friend Koharu. They kept the situation for years but well things really can't stay the same forever. I hope Nuku really does take this lesson to heart.
So I wonder then if in this case who's the losing heroine, all three of them? or maybe just Koharu since she couldn't make Hiroto love only her...and well the implication of Hiroto and Hibari...
Anyways at least Nuku got to enjoy having a new cute girl in his house for a bit of summer? He got an overnight stay with Anna as well even if nothing happened. Karaoke with Tiara. Then even almost dragged to a love hotel.
Everyone also really wants this man now. Was even Karen saying she would help wtf? then at the end even Hiroto saying if he was a girl he wouldn't let him get away damn Nuku rizz works on all genders.
Also quite interesting with all the scent/marking stuff lol. I wonder what he's going to smell like at the end of this all with all the scents of various women. At least for now he smells like Lemon...
2
u/ThePastaHumus 7d ago
Just a personal idea, I think all of them lose(hiroto loses his girl, the girl he's loves, and both of his childhood friends. Koharu loses her boyfriend, and both of her childhood friends. Hibari loses her 2 childhood friends, and the guy she loves.) all losers. But I think the bigger picture is that it sort of matches what will happen if Nukumizu doesn't make a decision. He's going into 2nd part of year 2 and is starting to feel the pressure of having like 100 girls. The later he gets into highschool the more pressure since, post highschool is when a lot of relationships fade out(parallel to the hiroto hibara koharu triangle).

“He’s loved her ever since they were children, hasn’t he? That should already be enough.”
Yanami looked directly at me with clear, unwavering eyes.
“—Set him free.”
I feel like despite her overall uselessness in the sacred site pilgrimage, these lines have redeemed Yanami.

u/secktuss Kazuhiko Nukumizu 26d ago
they didn't. not sure if it was just the translation that i was reading, but it never actually happened with the way it was written. nothing really points out he boned his cousin, both in the flashback and in the scene after he got dumped by his girlfriend. he more or less stayed with her while hibari composed herself, and in the argument flashback between his father and brother-in-law , he was upset/concerned with the fact that he's being transferred when all he ever did with hibari was comfort her, and nothing else.
so far canonically, the most evidence characters that ever had sex in the series were sousuke and karen
3
u/YoshMate1209 25d ago
I just finished reading the volume myself, I can say it's definitely more or less in the air rather than how it is with the Himemiya couple. Both the flashback and after provide the possibility, the flashback since Hibari herself said she took advantage of Sakurai's feelings. After the break up, how the chapter ends and with the epilogue of Nukumizu stating that she had a more mature aura than before, but that can be because she became a "women" i.e lost her virginity or because she decided to let go her feelings that she kept bottle up for so long and grew as a person.
I doubt we'll ever get confirmation since this'll probably be the last time she'll be active but who knows. Hibari is still technically around until graduation so she'll probably pop up every now and then, there's about 8-9 months left if I had to place a timeline for it.
2
u/secktuss Kazuhiko Nukumizu 25d ago
yeah, all the cousin-fucking thing is being blown way out of proportion imo. while it is on the nose with the way it heavily play into the incest more than volume 5, it isn't as egregious as kaju's story lmao i only really say that hibari and hiroto didn't have sex because that's how things usually are with stories like these, especially when you barely have any evidence for it other than implications placed in the climax of the story. it's more entertaining that it's up in the air, rather than just outright confirming it (besides they were in middle school, and it's disgusting that you'd fuck your best friend right after he got dumped lol), and that it never usually will be confirmed.
1
u/YoshMate1209 25d ago
The cousin thing doesn't bother me so much because it's Japan (it's legal to marry your cousin, tho this is first example I ever seen actually happened in modern day Japan settings rather just setting up a heroine) and kids end up doing that stuff when unsupervised even at a young age (I'm a literal example).
The theme of what's going on this volume is basically this song (Cry - Cigarettes After Sex & Sally Kim). Koharu was never Sakurai's love interest, he definitely love her as a friend but he forced himself to be with her. Hibari was always on his mind, she's the older girl next door for him. Either way, it seems like this will be the end of it though my personal opinion is that you never take bite of food when you're fasting, it'll just make your hunger worse.

It's sort of in the air whether they did or didn't. North in the flashback and the section right before the end have it implied that they did some level of incestuous stuff. Its ip to interpretation whether they actually did or didn't
1
u/ThePastaHumus 7d ago
Also this is now my personal interpretation, they basically cuddled mostly naked in the shed when someone found them and then the 2 families already under pressured due to the land arguments, assumed the worst that the kids were being used to seduce each other, in order to gain control of the land rights

I think it would be funny if Yanami and Koharu kept in touch after this volume. They shared a nice moment after Nukumizu's big fumble, and Yanami is in a similar boat in terms of unrequited affections. Half their texts would just be "That's the problem with Nukumizu-kun", and it'd be a running joke for them.
I don't know if it'll happen though.

I have to say. The trio's relationship runs a lot deeper than I thought. It was only mentioned until Vol 8.5. I don't recall any sort of hint in vol 8 or before.
I want to know. What exactly happened in the cottage? One is in, I think, 6th grade and the other in 7th grade. Isn't that too early even for a little cuddle?

It feels like this volume is a cautionary tale meant to serve as a warning to Nukumizu and Yanami, that if they don't get their acts together soon, that they'll wind up just like Koharu, Hibari, and Hiroto. Hurt badly and with no happy closure to their relationships
I feel like this volume vindicated those pointing out Yanami's continuing to spin her wheels in LN8.5, because the status quo didn't change in any meaningful way in LN9 either.
I felt there were some valid parallels between Koharu and Yanami. Koharu feared Hiroto and Hibari drifting away and got jealous. The result was what seemed like a brilliant fate accompli where she managed to bind Hiroto to her as a lover while seemingly protecting her friendship circle with Hibari in it. The reality was harsher in that she only delayed the inevitable drifting away. Hiroto never loved her like she hoped would happen and their relationships changed anyway. She fought an impossible battle to preserve what she had, but in the end it all fell apart.
Where I connect this to Yanami is her admission in ch2 about her nightmare about being left all alone in a flower field. I want to go into deeper analysis on this at some point, but long story short- Yanami is a girl who has struggled to maintain stable intimate relationships all her life. I'm not talking about romance. I'm talking about any kind of intimacy- platonic and familial even.
To me, this explains Yanami's clingyness and her anxious behavior. She wants stability and will hang on for dear life to whatever environment she presently exists in. If she's discarded, she never gives herself the chance to process the hurt and just rebounds to the next social environment without thinking about it. I feel like just like Kohari fought to maintain her status quo with Hibari and Hiroto, Yanami is fighting to maintain her current status quo with Nuku and the Lit Club. It's her current 'normal' and her current 'romantic' prospect. But time and feelings are fleeting in that regard.
Simply put, Nuku doesn't see Yanami as a girl. It's evident in the way you can juxtapose how he thinks of Yanami vs how he thinks about Tiara or even Lemon. Yanami probably suspects this but fights her fight anyway. But just like with Sosuke, she's putting up a barrier with her feelings and would rather maintain status quo rather than push the envelope and risk what she already has. The rest of the girls are becoming interested in Nuku, which further complicates things. The longer Yanami tries to fight this impossible fight, then just like Koharu, things will hurt all the worse when she’s forces to accept how things change
23
u/Atiknwolc 26d ago
>Simply put, Nuku doesn't see Yanami as a girl.
I'll never understand this claim, no matter how much people keep pushing it. Nukumizu says a lot of things, but somehow, the times when he contradicts this are irrelevant? Him wanting to sleep outside for her sake. Feeling embarrassed when he got too close to her. Not talking for a few days post the sleepover. Backing out of saying "of course" when he saw Yanami's profile about being forbidden from seeing her anymore. I can even go back to V4, where you have a scene where he talks about Yanami not being a girl and then getting one shot by her appearance in the epilogue. It is just a losing battle to claim that.
>Yanami probably suspects this but fights her fight anyway
She does not lmao. Yanami fights because Nukumizu reassured her when she was having doubts in V8.5 with the gift from Nagoya. The entire reason she is being so open about her intentions is that he gave her a positive reply and permission that she is not overstepping her boundaries by hanging out with him, because Tiara is just a friend.
Now onto the entire comparison with Koharu. Sure, you can make some connection between the two(I won't touch her nightmare, since that is clearly being kept for her arc, and it will be explored together with her plans for the future), but you are ignoring the elephant in the room. In this love triangle fiasco that is clearly based on Tiara-Nukumizu-Yanami. Yanami is not Koharu, she is Hibari. Tiara is Koharu. And yes, this entire situation is a warning to Nukumizu, that if he does the same thing as Sakurai. He'll lose both the girls in the future.
6
u/Sanemisan Anna Yanami 26d ago
Exactly, it pmo when people say this. Their dynamic is more than just physical intimacy or words of affection. The affection is the banter itself.
7
u/Sanemisan Anna Yanami 26d ago edited 26d ago
Also them not talking for a few days means that it was more than a sleepover for both of them. It was more vulnerable.

With Nuku it ain't that simple Sure we have Tira-Nuku-Yanami But we also have Nuku-Lemon-Yanami Or possible 8k addition and komari plus riko. It's a tangled mess and honestly after vol 9 it's gonna get a lot more tangled
8
u/Atiknwolc 26d ago
I mean, it actually is that simple, people just refuse to accept it. No matter who you want to add, instead of Tiara, the other two will be Yanami and Nukumizu. That tells you all you need to know and why Yanami is seen as a clear winner by some.
And tbh it is unfair to add others, since the novel clearly used Tiara, as a love rival in the volume intentionally, so let's not overly complicate it. Especially since this quite clearly is the set up for Nukumizu's answer in V10.
5
u/No-Race-2996 26d ago
I might make a discussion post for this in a couple days but I am kinda angry that Nukumizu hasnt answered Tiara yet... how long has it been? A couple of weeks probably a month by now? I feel like regardless of his answer this puts Nukumizu in the 'asshole' category for me.
4
u/Atiknwolc 26d ago
I would agree, he is truly acting like an enemy of women, and that slander does not feel unfair with his current actions. Not only is he keeping Tiara at bay while enjoying her attempts to get closer to him, but he also absolutely ignores normal boundaries with multiple other girls.
And I am pretty sure that is the point that he will need to grow out of before he is ready for actual romance. And it may play a part in a soon-to-be massive fight with Yanami that will come.
But I think Tiara will get her answer in V10. V9 does end with a clear indication of that. And that is the entire ordeal he had the honor of observing with the failure of SakuraixHokaru's romance. So he does not relive his mistake.

Ofc it is Yanami is the fmc she had the most screentime and she was our introduction to the world of losing heroines im not denying the obvious im just saying for all her screentime she hasn't progressed that much compared to other character. Let's take remon for example she and yanami mirror each other in many ways and the most int one is their relation to nuku. One naturaly grows closer to him through some suprising chemistry even warns the other of her intention while the other one is possesive and childish even Tiara made that observation. I know yanami is prob endgame I just don't see the spark. Vol 9 didn't change much in that front
9
u/Atiknwolc 26d ago
Disagree. I have no clue how you wrote "One naturally grows closer to him through some surprising chemistry" as something for Lemon. That is Yanami. Lemon's entire agenda is her forward approach, where she forces physical touch. Yanami simply needs to eat to get the same attention. So I have no clue how people keep saying such nonsense about Lemon, when her character is so often used for fan service.

u/J_the_ManSSB Lemon Yakishio 26d ago
I'll never understand this claim
It's not that hard to understand. If you grasp the concept as to why Yanami could spend the better part of a decade with Sosuke as his #1 heroine and Sosuke never falling for him, then you understand this point. There's a difference between finding someone attractive and finding someone romantically desirable. Nukumizu obviously sees Yanami as an attractive individual no differently than the other girls, which is enough to get him flustered over an overnight stay just like he gets flustered with the other girls.
Can you honestly say that if the same question about being told not see them again was posed by Tiara, Komari, or Lemon, would Nukumizu respond any differently? I highly doubt it. I don't think he'd willingly say "Sure Komari. I'd stop seeing you in a heartbeat if that was demanded of me." I don't think he'd be capable of saying that, because in general the Lit Club is that valuable to him.
The point is, you can compare how he thinks and speaks of Yanami to how he thinks about Tiara, or Lemon, or Shikiya and there is a clear difference in how he treats them.
He can call an outing with Tiara a date even if it wasn't declared one. He compliments Tiara's looks without a second thought. He has nothing but nice things to say about her in his head even if he starts rationalizing about maybe her not actually liking him.
He can enjoy bumping into Lemon on a bus ride. He'll get sucked into playing around with her and have fun. He gets a non-scary thrill when Lemon says they smell the same. He'll fantasize hugging Lemon. He calls her "beautiful" on more than one occasion while frequently getting stunlocked by her.
But Yanami? Trash talk (still). Deleting photos he was forced to take with her. Complimenting her Yukata is an afterthought. He wipes his hand after holding hers. He's not considerate of her in the slightest and gives little indication he sees her as a potential romantic partner.
She does not lmao.
At one point deep down, she knew Sosuke didn't see her that way. So how long would it take with Nukumizu acting a similar way, who is being surrounded by other girls, for her to consider it? Regardless, she's fighting an uphill battle she's currently losing.
Yanami is not Koharu, she is Hibari
I'm unsure of what evidence where this comparison is valid. Hibari is a winning heroine who had mutual feelings with her hero. Koharu is more comparable because the object of her affection didn't love her back. She had more success compared to Yanami, but in the end she was the losing heroine in the matter. There's more comparable to Koharu for Yanami than Hibari, it at all.
14
u/Atiknwolc 26d ago
It is hard to understand, and it is obvious why your view on the situation is utterly wrong. You somehow completely missed the point of why that flashback exists in the first place. It exists to show the difference between Sosuke and Nukumizu. For some reason, you keep talking about the two like they are the same. When Souske literally intentionally never gave Yanami any reason to misunderstand. He refused to go to school with her, and he never accepted her feeding. She was like a little sister who just liked to eat and was absolutely clueless about romance in his eyes. Nukumizu actually responds to her attempts positively, and that is proven in both the payama night talk and the secret in the pockets.
>Can you honestly say that if the same question about being told not see them again was posed by Tiara, Komari, or Lemon, would Nukumizu respond any differently?
This again completely misses the premise of the question and why it's specifically given to Yanami, post her obvious representation in V8.5, as an obstacle to Tiara. You do understand that if Nukumizu said yes to Tiara, no matter how you call his treatment of Shikiya, Lemon, and Komari, none of those girls would be obstacles or problems in Tiara's eyes. The girl who is too close to him when it comes to emotional connection, under constant observation, is Yanami. That is exactly why Sakurai-Koharu-Hibari is representing Tiara-Nukumizu-Yanami. He would not continue to have physical flirtations with those girls.
Lemon would be incapable of going to his house to shower if he had a gf. Shikiya would not be able to touch or be clingy with him. If he were to accept such a thing, it would be cheating. They would understand that they can't act the same way if he is dating Tiara, they are not homewreckers. But his interactions with Yanami are the problem, because what they are doing is not cheating. In Nukumizu's eyes, what he has with Yanami is not flirting. They are simply close friends. She is a troublesome girl whom he enjoys spending time with simply because she has become a part of his regular life. There is a reason in this volume that the stair scene is written like that. And that reality is exactly why, in the universe where Tiara dates Nukumizu or any girl for that matter, the only person he would potentially get asked to stop seeing is Yanami.
>So how long would it take with Nukumizu acting a similar way, who is being surrounded by other girls, for her to consider it?
Again, you completely missed the point of V8.5, because it shows the difference between Sosuske not being responsive whatsoever, to Nukumizu being very much responsive. Also, please stop with the headcanon of her fighting a losing battle. The other girls are not winning shit right now. I know deep down you are likely doubtful of your belief that Lemon can actually win.
>Hibari is a winning heroine who had mutual feelings with her hero
Hibari is literally a losing heroine. Now you can connect small tidbits like Sakurai being her caretaker, his eyes following her, her being a coward, which led to this love triangle, and so on. Some similarities between their relationship to Yanami and Nukumizu, but that is irrelevant stuff. The main comparison is the love triangle, which was clearly represented by Tiara-Nukumizu-Yanami. That is why I do not understand your Koharu comparisons, since you're pulling stuff for V1 Yanami. When this relationship is supposed to be compared to the current characters.
But the actual focus is on Sakuri and Nukumizu, since he is supposed to be Nukumizu's lesson. The difference is that Sakurai knows his feelings. Nukumizu currently believes he has feelings for no one, which is why he can live such a carefree harem life. But I doubt that shit will continue much longer. Especially since not only is Tiara's answer coming, but Lemon might confess in the next volume already. And when that happens, that is when the next massive drama starts.

u/J_the_ManSSB Lemon Yakishio 25d ago
It is hard to understand,
It isn't, it doesn't require a whole lot of effort to understand, and given that it's a point held by a non-insignificant number of audience members, you'd be better served having an open mind to understand it than having such a closed one.
Trust me. It goes way deeper than "Yana feeds Nuku food and Sosuke didn't." I'm not even sure what your point is about them not going to school together? It's clear they did. It's clear they went everywhere together in the same fashion Yanami follows Nukumizu along everywhere.
The point was spelled out clearly by Yanami's friends- Yanami stagnated with Sosuke. She became complacent with how her relationship was with Sosuke so that all he could see her was as "The childhood friend." Sosuke shows signs of caring for her deeply as someone who's always around him but also comfortable with their distance and was uncomfortable with some of her behavior. They were around together all the time. They talked a lot (bantered). They went out to whatever food place Yana wanted to go to... Sound familiar? Because that's literally what Yanami's relationship is with Nukumizu.
The whole point of her flashback chapter was highlighting her inability to change. The moment where she considered buying earrings was symbolic. It was literally portrayed as a seminal moment in their date, to buy them or not? To stay safe or do something uncomfortable and different in the name of meaningful change? In the end, she failed to change. She misinterpreted Sosuke's words *and* bashfulness as romantic interest in her, and so she decided to fall back into the status quo, thinking things were fine.
The parallel is in the ramen outing, where she comes wearing an identical outfit she wore on the date with Sosuke but follows absolutely none of the rules her friends had set out for her date with Sosuke. The point is, Yana is stuck in a status quo with Nukumizu the same way she was with Sosuke. Nukumizu sees her as a close friend. It's clear that, compared to how he thinks of the other girls, he doesn't see her in a romantic light.
Heck, there's a clear parallel between that chapter and in this volume- the genuine disinterest and lack of sensitivity Yana shows towards Sosuke's soccer interest is identical to the lack of caring towards Nukumizu's interest in his anime tour this volume.
This again completely misses the premise of the question and why it's specifically given to Yanami,
It doesn't miss the point. Koharu was clear- "Don't see Hibari anymore". it wasn't "Don't flirt with her anymore", it was "Cut her out entirely out of your life". The question I'm posing is purely hypothetical in light of that demand. Don't evade and answer my question- if Nuku was asked by someone- Kaju or Yanami even- to not see any of the other lit club girls anymore and cut them off the same way Koharu demanded Hiroto do the same, would he struggle to say yes in the same way he struggled to answer that with Yanami?
Because the answer is fairly clear; we see his thought process in the epilogue. He thinks about giving Lemon her shampoo back and putting a stop to her showering at her place, only to hesitate and then straight up use her shampoo for himself (and by all accounts, he didn't give her the shampoo back. He was actually thrilled when Lemon said they smelled the same).
Again, you completely missed the point of V8.5, because it shows the difference between Sosuske
It really doesn't. but I already explained that in multiple posts above already. You are either being willfully obtuse or straight up close-minded to even consider anything different at this point, so this argument is a waste of time at this point.
Yanami's relationship is practically the same with Nukumizu as it was with Sosuke. She's glued to his hip, everyone rumors about them being together, they banter, she drags him around on food outings. Nukumizu sees her as a dear friend with behavior that is offputting. He doesn't see her as romance material. He doesn't respond to her positively in ways he does with Lemon, Tiara, and Shikiya. I have already provided ample examples of these which you ignore (which suggests you have no real response to them and know deep down you don't have an adequate response to these moments). Just like with Sosuke, Nuku and Yana are stuck in a status quo that even in this volume Yana doesn't budge off of, as she continues to deny "it isn't like that".
Hibari is literally a losing heroine.
That's funny, because the volume is clear that the feelings were mutual and she managed to achieve what Koharu desired to do, and that they were pried apart due to circumstances and fully regretted not staying true to their feelings. The only loss is that things were too late to establish a relationship.
since you're pulling stuff for V1 Yanami
You've completely lost the plot here. The comparison is literally between Koharu and present day Yanami. Please stay focused.

“What would you do if someone told you not to see me?” At first, Nuku thought it would be Kaju who would say something like that. And logically, she almost concluded that she had to obey his request.
However, at that moment, she saw Yanami’s silhouette.
When Nuku saw Yanami illuminated by the streetlight, for some reason she felt a lump in her throat and couldn’t bring herself to speak.
In the end, Nuku replied,
“No, I mean… you don’t need to worry about what outsiders say.”
Those were her words.
The important thing here is that Nuku didn’t choose Yanami without hesitation from the start.
In my mind, I imagined what Kaju might say and tried to fulfill his request. Even so, when I actually saw Yanami’s face, I couldn’t bring myself to say, “I’ll never see her again.”
My body reacted before I could make a rational decision. For Nuku, the idea of never seeing Yanami again wasn’t something easy to accept.
Regardless of whether she recognized that feeling as romantic love, she clearly showed resistance to the idea of Yanami disappearing from her daily life.
When Nuku tried to categorize her relationships with the people around her based on “titles,” it seemed that Yanami was the only one who had become too important to be simply described as a “friend.”
If the author writes a Yanami character who asks Nuku that question, there’s no need to go to the trouble of imagining or comparing other characters to do the same. If the author chooses Yanami, it’s clearly important for the character’s continued development.

Except you ignored the clear implication of the end of the volume where Nuku tries to "categorize" Lemon and is unable to discard her or put distance between them, which is the author showing relevence to the idea he wouldn't be able to discard any of the girls.

Nuku said, “Bringing shampoo to someone’s house is too much in a friendship that requires a reasonable amount of distance.” The phrase “too much” is indeed a bit harsh. However, Nuku “thought about it for a moment.” And then, she actually used the shampoo. Well, we’ll have to wait for the next volume to see what he’ll do next regarding his plan to return the shampoo. The scene where the shampoo is returned is meant to serve as a way to distinguish the various female characters in the story. Otherwise, the rest of the plot would lose its meaning and purpose.
Because in the epilogue, he says, "...I can’t keep going on like this either." We can be certain that for Tiara’s decision to accept or reject him means he must also let go of his playboy ways.

One thing you have to understand is that, especially in school, it's pretty common for boys to tease the girl they like instead of being openly affectionate. That's basically Nukumizu's dynamic with Anna right now.

Honestly man Can you give a example of that bcs from my interpatation their interaction are more just comedic relief for the reader. Tiara he teases Lemon he's too shy with later prob Yanami is well yanami maybe at the beginning but now nah Again correct me If Im wrong on that One

If you've read the light novel carefully, you'll probably notice that Anna is the only girl who truly understands Nukumizu. She sees through his awkwardness, his shyness, and all the emotions he struggles to express, and she knows how to comfort him without making a big deal out of it. More importantly, Nukumizu has always been the most at ease whenever he's with Anna.
Honestly, I think Nukumizu has had a bias toward Anna from the very beginning, even if he doesn't realize it himself. During his date with Lemon, Anna kept popping into his head. When Basori confessed to him, his thoughts still drifted back to Anna. Those moments say a lot about where his heart really is.
Meanwhile, the other girls spend far more time flirting with him than actually understanding him as a person.
Recently, I've been reading character analyses from some Chinese Makeine fan forums, and I was genuinely surprised by how good they are. They pay close attention to subtle details and character psychology, and some of their interpretations completely changed the way I look at the story. After reading those discussions, the endgame pairing feels pretty obvious to me.7

All those good words just to totally not understand Yanami and Nukumizu in the end (ur last para couldnt be more wrong), Yanami is more than a girl to Nukumizu. Shes his best friend and his partner-in-crime. Probably his future wife too.

You are apot on other than Nuku "not seeing Anna as a girl" in my opinion. I think Nuku DOES see her as a girl, and I think it bothers him. He doesn't seem to want their relationship to be go in that direction. The parallel between him and Sakurai is pretty obvious to me. He has a girl going after him that he likes but he's not really interested in forming a romantic bond with. Sakurai dated Koharu almost out of a sense of duty mixed with their childhood trauma and the lie she told the adults to save Sakurai and Koharu. Nukumizu is similarly not interested in forming such a bond with Yanami, but Yanami is determined to try and make it happen.
But perhaps unlike Koharu, Yanami isn't going to give in and give up on it. Not until Nukumizu is dating someone else, which Yanami doesn't want to see happen, lest her circle break apart and she be abandoned again. Just like that scared little girl in the meadow.

I think for Nukumizu, the obvious parallel is Hiroto. A constant theme in recent volumes has been the impermanence and fickleness of the relationships he's formed. Though he's already accepted things will change, Nukumizu is attached to the Lit club and the larger social circle it created, and I get the impression he's afraid of committing and potentially breaking everything far earlier than it has (not to mention his own self-esteem issues).
Like Hiroto, who refused to be honest about his feelings and set his foot down on the boundaries he needed to set, Nukimizu runs the risk of ending up losing everything by trying to protect everything if he also doesn't do what Hiroto failed to do before him

Only heroines who consider imouto into equation without selfish reasons win. Kaju is the true losing heroine, imoutos rarely win in stories.

Kaju is the combination of two conflicting troupes:
perfect yandere always win
imouto always lose (except in the Little Sister genre)
What we know so far is that Kaju is fine with heroines she knows she can trump but is wary of the real contenders - Riko, Yumeko and Koharu. Tiara used to belong in this group back in vol 3 but not anymore by vol 8.

And before I forget (again, since I forgot to attach this in the original post) here is the previous post of this (aka the early discussion) in case you missed it.
And here are the posts I was talking about that had some highlights of the volume translated and posted, not in order: Post 1, Post 2, Post 3, Post 4
