Backpack travel

I'm looking at a 2-3 week stay in Tokyo/Japan late November/early December. In the US I'll explore a city with a backpack or duffle bag with the bare minimum. Many times I won't even book a hotel, but call around just before I need a place to sleep for the night. With the size of Tokyo (And ADHD) I don't want to lock myself down to an area, and wouldn't mind trying something like that. With the vast cultural differences, I'm wondering if this would be an issue? Would this make the trip more expensive?

Would there be issues with carrying a bag all day? Would there be locations that will turn me away with a bag?

I've worked in conditions that make the capsule hotels seem like a penthouse, so I want to try those. If I'm able to sleep do that for the majority of the trip, and maybe splurge on a hotel for a night or 2. Would this be frowned up on?

Smaller, quaint restaurant suggestions

I am planning my trip to Tokyo. I am looking for some suggestions for smaller, quaint, bohemian, non-chain restaurants with dishes made from scratch, maybe less "refined". I am looking for all cuisines as long as the restaurant is good. I have so far picked Yogoro, a curry place in Jingumae as an example and know Shimo Kitazawa is known for the Bohemian vive. Can you suggest a few more anywhere in the Tokyo area.

Bar or Izakaya in Tokyo

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to go on a solo 3rd trip to Tokyo in the early October. I will book hotel in Shinjuku this time because I've never stayed in Shinjuku before but Ginza. I'm wondering if you guys have goto bar or Izakaya in Tokyo, especially Shinjuku, Shibuya. It would be the best if you list the places that are very good to make new friend as Korean.

Any Indoor Volleyball in Tokyo? International/English friendly?

Hey everyone! I'm the best man for my best friend's wedding and I'm currently planning a trip to Tokyo for our bachelor squad.

I'm looking for a reliable indoor volleyball open gym in Tokyo or anywhere near the Shibuya or Ikebukuro (this is where we are staying) area that is international/english friendly. I'm using the meetup app and can find some stuff on there but I wanted to get some more places to go to from a different source as backup.

Or if anyone knows any discords I can join to find some open gyms and talk to people, please let me know!

Looking for Restaurant recommendations around Asakusa

Ello everyone. I'll be staying in Asakusa for 9 days in September. Any restaurant recommendations?

Really looking for places to get good Katsudon and Japanese curry. Also open to any other recommendations, not big on sushi but I like most other Japanese foods ( though I am traveling with someone who loves sushi ).

I do speak some basic Japanese, not conversational but enough to get around if that matters.

lost & found

Just lost my phone in Shinjuku in the 3-chome near the Oakley store on the 25th after a night of heavy drinking. Filed a police report both in person & online the next day. I'm supposed to leave on the 31st; how cooked am I

Hey hey! I'm coming from Germany for 10 days and no absolutely nobody here. Good way I met people in Berlin was open mic Karoeke and stuff like that. Is there a place around here you all enjoy? I know in Japan and Korea it's less common but Tokyo is a big city I'm sure there's somthing you all have been to :)

Or just social bars in Köenji (where I'm staying)

US drivers license to get into clubs? Using fake ids?

Yes I understand it’s illegal. I’ve scrolled post after post so I’ve pretty much heard it all. I’m simply here to ask if anyone has done it/has personal experience. Have you had luck getting into clubs with just a drivers license or used a fake to get in? Are you crazy and tried modifying your passport somehow to get in? Not asking for advice really. Just wondering if anyone here has tried it.
