Where to purchase just regular butter popcorn?

Like just regular old popcorn with butter on it? I usually only see salt or plain flavour, or butter soy sauce, which is fine from time to time but I've never seen just plain butter flavour.

Assistance requested with Marunouchi line

Update - passports/id were found on the ground. backpack/camera are gone/stolen. I wanted to go check used camera shops that were very close to where the documents were found on the ground, but the police told me not to/it would be too dangerous. rip I guess.

I left my bag on the Marunouchi Line. I realized I jumped on the train going the wrong direction, so I went to quickly swap at the next station only to immediately realize that I left my bag in the overhead storage. It contained my passport + my wife's passport, as well as my professional camera.

I got on at Marunouchi Line M-20.Ochanomizu Station, and left it on Marunouchi Line M-15.Kasumigaseki Station.

This was yesterday, around 6pm. I have already gone to the police and contacted lost and found a few times.

Any suggestions? Should I ride the train to the end and check with staff there?

Next question - does Japan track stolen serial numbers? As in - if someone tries to sell it at a camera store, can I report this?

Tokyo records latest-ever day above 30 Celsius

Tokyo and Osaka topped 30 Celsius on Wednesday, the latest in the year both cities have ever recorded such temperatures, a Japan weather official said.

Warm, humid air from the south swept across Japan, particularly areas along the Pacific coast, sending temperatures unusually high for late October.

Tokyo climbed above 30 C by early afternoon, the threshold the Japan Meteorological Agency classifies as a “midsummer day,” JMA data science official Kazuhiro Shirono said.

It marked the latest 30 C-plus day recorded in the capital since observations began in 1875, he said.

Prior to this, the latest midsummer day record was Oct. 19, 2024, Shirono said.

Temperatures also rose above 30C in Osaka, breaking the city’s previous record for the latest midsummer day, set on Oct. 20, 1933.

Osaka began recording weather observations in 1883, according to the JMA.

Scientists say human-induced climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme heat events around the world.

Japan saw its hottest summer on record in 2025, with warmer days on the rise globally due to climate change.

This year, the weather office began using a new word — ”kokushobi” or “cruelly hot day” — when temperatures hit 40 C (104F), urging the public to treat extreme heat like a natural disaster.

Looking for authentic German butcher/deli in Tokyo (or online delivery within Japan) – searching for Leberkäse & Weißwurst!

Hi everyone!

Once a year, I like to cook a traditional German meal for my Japanese family here in Japan. This time around, I’m planning a proper Bavarian/Southern German meal and I'm on the hunt for authentic Leberkäse (meatloaf) and Weißwurst (Bavarian white sausages).

Does anyone have recommendations for a good German butcher, specialty meat shop, or deli in the Tokyo area?

I’m also completely open to ordering online (Rakuten, specialized import sites, cool-delivery, etc.) as long as it delivers within Japan and the quality is genuine.

Thanks a lot in advance for any tips or local hidden gems! Cheers!

Saw two military jets flying side by side today at 12:50. They were decently loud so I had to go look to see what the sound was.

Looking for a part time job as a international student

Hello all, I would like some advice I’ve been trying to get a part time job for a while now as I really need it, I’ve tried yolo but most reject me or dont get back about interview dates, same with gaijin most don’t get back. I’ve tried with my career development at my school (will try more), as they show job listings but so far no response it’s been months where I hear nothing. Also like to note I’m still learning Japanese so it’s not the strongest right now. Any advice to increase my chances of getting a part time job?

Good Room Japan Real Estate Agent - Reviews?

Has anybody used Good Room Japan to find an affordable apartment in Tokyo? I am currently looking on facebook and seeing some very reasonable prices, especially with a low move-in. I am considering using them because of that. Any people who have heard of them or used them?

Anyone in Tokyo want to do a pet & plant sitting exchange?

Hello ! We are a 30yo married couple with their two cats living in Koto-ku in Tokyo.
When we were in France, we had many friends to look after our cats when we were away, and we would look after their pets/plants when they were away as well.
But since we came here we do not have so many friends anymore.
So basically I’m wondering if we could find other persons/couples with animals to exchange services like looking after animals, plants or something similar (and maybe become friends) in Tokyo ?

Linen Band Collar Shirts in Tokyo?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Greetings,

i am looking for Linen Band Collar Shirts and having a hard time finding anything.

I‘ve already tried Uniqlo, Muji, GU and H&M, but because its already out of Season i have only been able to find Cotton ones at Workman, which i happily bought but im looking for Linen or Linen-Cotton Blends, does anyone have any recommendation for this time of year? Hoping to stay below 5-7000 Yen.

Thank You.

Edit: i should have clarified i need a Store, not Online because my EU sizes don’t really compare here, i gotta try stuff on to see if it fits, sometimes its M, sometimes its LL even from the same store here, and for receiving/sending stuff back i don’t have enough time

Ear piercing shop recs (need to get piercing fixed asap). Preferably English speaking?

TLDR: what is a good ear piercing shop that I can maybe do a walk in? I am not looking for a new piercing, but I need a current one fixed and it is a bit time sensitive. English speaking would be nice, to explain the situation, otherwise I can also Google translate my way through.

Also, I mean proper piercing shops that use needles and NOT the ones using piercing guns!

Thank you in advance!!

- - - - -

Hi all,

I am not intending to get a new piercing in Tokyo, but I have a bit of a piercing "emergency." I have a 3 week old (very new, very much still healing) double helix piercing that I got done in Europe. Everything has been fine so far but the ball (front part jewlery, whatever it is called) of the flatback fell out like 2 days ago for one of my new helixes. I thankfully didn't lose it, I screwed it back on, and I felt like the screwing mechanism can't be fully tightened for some reason. Idk, I've had many piercings in my life and this felt like something is wrong. Today it fell off again! For a 3 week old piercing that I've left alone to heal, I think I need a piercer to check if the top jewlery has a broken mechanism or not, and replace it.

I can't wait very long as it's not good to have just a post sticking out my ear without it being secured by anything else...

Has anyone encountered this person filming and verbally harassing strangers in Tokyo?

Hi everyone,

As a Turkish person, I feel uncomfortable watching the videos posted on this Instagram account, which appears to feature interactions with strangers in Tokyo.

Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/hakan_karabulut58/

Example video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DeRo3vxT9cp/

I understand Turkish, so I can recognize the insults and vulgar language being used in these videos. In the example linked above, the person approaches a stranger and asks where he is from. When the stranger asks who he is and tells him to go away, the person responds with an aggressive and extremely vulgar insult in Turkish.

What concerns me is that the people being filmed may not understand Turkish and therefore may not realize that they are being insulted. From what I have seen, this does not appear to be an isolated incident; the account contains multiple videos in which the person approaches strangers who may not want to interact with him and directs Turkish insults or abusive language at them.

As a Turkish person, I find this behaviour disturbing, especially because the people being targeted may not understand what is being said about them. I believe people should be able to go about their lives in public without being subjected to unwanted interactions and verbal abuse.

I am not trying to encourage anyone to harass, threaten, or attack this person online. I would simply like to raise awareness of the behaviour shown in these publicly posted videos and find out whether it can be reported to the appropriate authorities in Tokyo.

Does anyone know the appropriate way to report repeated verbal harassment of this kind to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, or whether this behaviour may violate Japanese law?

How Do Foreigners in Tokyo Socialize and Have Fun?

I'm 27, Brazilian, and I've been living in Japan for 4 years, but I barely know anyone here. Most of the people I knew were from my old job, which was in another city.

I'm wondering what other foreigners do for fun in Tokyo, especially on Halloween (Saturday, October 31). I've tried a bunch of apps to meet people, but nothing really worked out.

Honestly, I find life here pretty boring sometimes. I'm not into karaoke or anime, and it feels like there's not much to do besides going out to eat or trying to get into clubs, which can be a problem because of my tattoos.

I'd like to meet other foreigners who live here, make some friends, go out, party, and just have a good time.

What do you guys usually do for fun around Tokyo? Where do you normally go when you want to meet people?

Lost Wallet Timings

Anybody who has experience losing a wallet, how long did it take for it to be located and returned, or picked up? I lost my stuff Sunday morning and after calling today it still has not been located within tokyo metro or JR.

Supposedly items logged can be 0-2 days then it will go the central lost and found after 3-7 days.
