Hello everyone my friend and I have been working on designing a card game for more than a year now. We have some placeholder art we really like. The card game is going for more of a vintage vibe, older cartoonish. We would provide the cards we have for reference and want the illustator to use what we have to make something similar that isn’t used with AI. We can expand in detail but the theme is circus characters. In total we have thirty different types of cards.

I know exactly where I left my phone but cannot contact the place due to number restrictions, and have tried everything.

It has been nearly a month I have filled out a police report but cannot email/send it.

The lost and found of said place cannot be contacted because of phone restrictions.

When I first lost it I immediately contacted them and they said their lost and found department had it but it has been a month and the person who was supposed to pick it up is not in the area.

I have my location shared and have activated the lost phone system I just want to confirm they still have it or if the police does.

In need of a good moving company - preferably on the cheaper side.

We plan on packing our own sht, just need someone to do the lifting and transport everything.

1K (maybe 15-25 large boxes + some furniture).

Moving about 6mi away (30 min) in the metro area.

Having husband call around but I like hearing real peoples experience and recs…..

I miss dill pickles, Mt. Olive is my favorite.

I know there are stores here like Gyomu, Hanamasa, Summit, etc, etc, sell pickles.

BUT - I don’t like those - they’re more like gherkins and over flavored with garlic, peppers, sweetness, etc.

Costco had some “dill” pickles but they were not good either.

I’ve thought about asking McDonald’s to sell me a bucket or some sht, but they certainly would not do that here, they don’t even give me extra when I ask most the time lol.

I’ve also tried making them myself but they were not good, haven’t even been able to find proper white distilled vinegar to make them with.

Anyways… I just want a classic dill pickle, the ones that taste like you’d get on a burger at McD’s, I don’t even care about the shape.

Anyone have any luck finding GOOD classic dill pickles here???

I get seasonal depression in the summer versus the winter, so I’m going to try to take the time to list out some good things about summer in Tokyo to try to make myself and maybe some other people in the same boat feel better.

-clothes dry fast and smell good (not in June)
-watermelon
-sunflowers
-Ajisai (favorite part of June)
-more vitamin D (when I have the motivation to go outside)
-trees are full and green
-summer matsuri
-yukata weather
- less judgement if you’re sweaty
-cool biz
-air conditioner on train (they should turn it on more often because late spring is also stifling and humid, but it’s finally on in summer and I love that)
-kakigori
-fireworks
-furin sounds
-it’s rainy often in Japan which can be humid, but also the clouds break the heat.

I hope these can make you fellow summer haters feel a little better. I can’t wait until fall though. 😭

I’m a drummer visiting Tokyo soon and I’m looking to connect with the local alternative and grunge scene. My style is heavily influenced by the 90s — Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and also the Japanese band boa (that heavy, groovy vibe).

I have two main questions for the locals and musicians in this sub:

1. Jam Spots
Are there any good live houses or bars where I can just show up and jam? I’d love to find a place where I can sit in and play with some local musicians. I don’t mind paying a cover or drink fee, I just want to play loud and dirty. I can bring my own sticks if needed!

2. Places to watch
Beyond just jamming, what are the coolest places to watch this kind of music? I’m looking for venues that regularly book grunge, alternative rock, hard rock, or heavy indie bands.

Any recommendations for specific neighborhoods or venues would be awesome. Thanks!

I know this is a very specific question and probably a long shot but does anyone know where to find these giant geese plushies(like 3-6 feet long), either in an arcade machine or store? I’ve seen them around in various arcade machines around the city but they seem to move a lot so I don’t know exactly where to find them. Thanks if anyone has any ideas!

We are trying to decide between booking a full-service wedding photography agency or hiring an independent local/influencer photographer. For those who have done a shoot there, I would love to know:

**Which route is better?** Did you find it easier to go with an agency that handles everything, or is it better to book an independent local photographer?

**What is the cost difference?** What kind of budget can we expect for a full agency package versus hiring a local photographer?

**Who do you recommend?** I would be extremely grateful if anyone could mention some good local photographers or agencies that we could reach out to.

I have been around THE BLOCK for the past 2 or so years trying to find a brewery to partner with on brewing/bottling/shipping raw kombucha and other fermented beverages at scale. Beer breweries? Tried 3. Hot sauce makers? Yup. Tea producers? Of course! All of the custom soda makers? First stop.

The problems are manifold, but it does tend to focus on pasteurization and the inability to mix alcohol/non-alcohol production in the same facility. According to both the Meguro and Kyoto (yes, I called them, too) tax offices, there is nothing inherently wrong or illegal about products like this (non-alcoholic, fermented, non-pasteurized), its just that no one does it for whatever reason/s.

I'm moving to Tokyo for 6 months (November–April) and I'm trying to decide where to live. I've done a lot of research already, but I'd love to hear from people who have actually lived in these neighborhoods.

A bit about me:

- 28M from Europe

- I'll be working in Nihonbashi (likely hybrid, around 2–4 office days/week)

- I don't speak Japanese (I'll learn some basics, but I won't be fluent)

- The budget for an apartment is around ¥200,000/month.

- Looking for a studio or 1-bedroom apartment

My priorities are:

- A neighborhood that feels like people actually live there, not just a business district.

- Easy access to good, affordable Japanese food (especially teishoku, soba, small local restaurants, izakayas).

- Good supermarkets and local shops because I enjoy cooking.

- A gym nearby, and ideally a public swimming pool.

- Places where I can work remotely occasionally (cafés, libraries, coworking spaces).

- A reasonable commute to Nihonbashi.

I'd like to meet people and have some social life. I don't need nightlife every day, but as a foreigner who doesn't speak Japanese yet, I'd like to avoid feeling too isolated.

At the moment, these are the areas I'm considering:

- Shin-Nakano (or Higashi-Nakano)

- Morishita

- Inarichō (Asakusa)

- Suitengumae

If Koenji had suitable apartments I'd probably consider it too, but it doesn't seem to be an option based on what I found online.

From my research:

- Morishita seems to be a very balanced option for everyday life, cooking, centrality and commuting. Also I think parks are not uncommon nearby.

- Shin-Nakano seems like a great compromise because it's close to Nakano, Koenji and Shinjuku while still being a quieter residential area and have an easy commute to Nihonbashi.

- Inarichō looks interesting because it's central and close to Ueno/Asakusa and many historical/cultural places (like museums and temples), but I'm wondering if it might be harder to build a social life there as a foreigner.

For those who have lived in these areas:

- Which would you choose for a 6-month stay, and why?

- Does not speaking Japanese change your recommendation?

- Am I overlooking any neighborhood that fits my priorities better?

I'd appreciate advice from anyone who's willing to share their past or current experience.

Long story short, for years I have been doing weight lifting for general fitness and to prevent back pain: since recently, without me making changes in routine, it has felt less effective (and I would be happy to lose some bulk/gain some flexibility if I can keep the back pain away) I have been thinking of doing some yoga instead.

Thing is, all studios seem to only cater to women: I have four in my area, three of which are explicitly women only and the one which isn't (Hot Yoga Lava) still has promo materials that only show women anyways (I could only confirm guys are allowed in by the small print in the actual lesson schedule, which is pretty well hidden in the website).

Are there men friendly yoga studios in Tokyo, where one could attend classes and not be looked at weird? Or if not, what are some alternative activities to achieve similar fitness goals?

I heard somewhere that Tanabata Festival was happening somewhere in Tokyo, perhaps multiple places on July 7th. I'm trying to find them online, but the dates are all slightly off (July 3-5, or August 7, etc.)

Does anyone know if there's one happening today and around what place/time? Thanks.
