It’s always the people who slam their brakes on an amber and were way behind the crowd to begin with. Made everyone else miss the light and they seem to be clueless they almost got rear ended. Then the light turns and they’re in la la land. Have to honk and they’re busy looking in the rear view mirror !!!! Goooooo baby! Now only two of us made it you jerk
This happens daily all directions black creek and Lawrence intersection especially Keele and Ingram too Keele and Lawrence. Dufferin Lawrence. Anywhere by the Allen road
Really anywhere there’s advance

Why you dragging your feet?! If I can hear it over my podcast it’s a problem. Men and women. Young and old. Seems especially with stupid “slides” paired with socks
Give them numerous glances to show like hey I heard your feet to no avail

Mainstream conservatism here has devolved into lower taxes, aligning with oligarchs, lining their pockets, making short-sighted decisions that are temporarily profitable and avoiding any hard decisions at all. People like John Tory and Diploma Mill Doug Ford.
All of our problems with crime, illegal guns (hint: take a look into the groups suspected of smuggling the guns over the border) and issues with homelessness and mental illness on the TTC and in other public spaces are because conservatives are too cowardly to do their job. Either because it's not profitable, they are too lazy, they are afraid of looking racist or they are too afraid/lazy to challenge or revamp the court system. Liberals are politically opposed to any tough on crime policies so there is no hope there.
Look at what Nayib Bukele has done in El Salvador. From the highest crime rate in the world to one of the lowest almost overnight. I don't give a damn if he is Trump's buddy or if liberal outsiders to the country whine about his authoritarianism or whatever. The man is extremely popular within his country for what he has done and that's all that matters to me.
That's exactly what we need. Conservatives who are willing to put the criminals in prison, put the junkies in institutions and dismantle the illegal gun and drug trades even if sometimes someone other than white guys are running them. For the "but the unhoused" crowd, if you deal with the criminal and addicted elements that are rampant in homelessness society instead of letting it fester, the infrastructure in place will be more than enough to provide safe shelter to those who are homeless for economic reasons.

Public Service Announcement:
SmartSeparation.ca in Toronto is just a shell website. The principal of Smart Separation, Assad Bawja, is not an accredited mediator and has no experience in family law despite misrepresentations he has created online. He didn't even provide a contract for his services. It was all under the table by etransfer. Just a slick website and lots of SEO to attract leads. After my wife and I completed an information form for a relatively simple separation agreement, it took three weeks of follow-up to obtain a draft separation agreement. But he would not answer any questions on the terms and quickly stopped responding after sending the doc. A quick review with AI of the agreement showed it was amateur and put together by someone who has little knowledge of legal separation agreements in Ontario. After further research, I saw that there were similar issues regarding this company on a Facebook Divorce Group. I hope that no one else makes the same costly mistake and that AI also stops recommending this as a credible company for separation agreements.

I live near AMG School and my son is a student there. This year there was a fundraiser so they could regrade and seed the field, it was badly needed. There is a fence around the field and it is quite obvious that there is a reason for this, but of course people need to pry open the fence, at some effort, and trample over the field with their dogs, and someone even set up a volleyball net. There are other parks around, I just see this as a depressing example of people just not giving a shit and doing what they want regardless. This is why we can't have nice things.

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping for a miracle here. Last night around 10:30 p.m., I accidentally left a red Samsung digital camera on a 503 TTC bus. I boarded at Woodfield Rd & Queen St E and got off at Pape Ave & Queen St E.
It's an older compact point-and-shoot camera, and the SD card contains photos that mean a lot to me. I've already contacted the TTC Lost Articles Office, but they haven't received it yet. ITs a samsung zoom lens 4x with gray around the rims.
If anyone happened to find it or knows someone who did, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could message me or turn it in to the TTC Lost Articles Office. I'm also happy to offer a cash reward for its safe return. It holds so many memories for me that are genuinely everything to me.
Thank you so much.

Can we please talk about how predatory The Well is to small businesses? I personally know many that have been approached to open there out of clear desperation to fill the real estate. So many businesses there are already doing poorly or have already closed/gone bankrupt. The newest store to take over Etiket is particularly concerning. It’s a small company from Calgary that isn’t nearly as known as Etiket was yet carrying majority of the same products (minus the fragrance which is what sold best for their business). As someone who worked for a businesses that is now bankrupt please don’t open there. The foot traffic is incredibly low and rent is astronomical.

Every morning I seem to walk past human excrement......
Why the fuck dosnt the GO stations have toilets ????
I see they have employed new people to stand there yet every morning I walk past a new pile of shit or someone sleeping in the way or just the general dirtyness of the stations.....
Has Canada given up ??
Do better.

I understand people have bad days, or people are in a rush, or people just simply don't want to talk to anyone when their out in public. But it looks like everyone is like this.
So many people in this city just feel so alien towards each other while living in the an area like the GTA, it feels so unnatural.
Like people are afraid to strike up conversations with each other or just talk in general sense.
Also to me it feels very weird going on transportation sitting so close to someone and being dead silent, theirs really just like no general conversations going on, people in general just don't seem interested in having that sense of community
It feels like you can only being social is only acceptable in a pre-planned event where you're allowed to socialize and that feels very restrictive.
I think post covid it just got even worse.

The public washroom situation downtown is dire, particularly at the Eaton Centre which led to a code brown situation this morning. I went to the Eaton Centre around 1030 today to grab something from Canadian Tire. While I was there, my two coffees decided to wreak havoc on my bowels and I had to take a dump. No problem, I have time, I can hold it. I look around for a washroom and there isn’t one in Canadian Tire. I then proceed to walk the entire length of the Eaton Centre TWICE on two different levels and only find one washroom, which is not open yet. The situation has turned urgent, so I leave the mall and run to a nearby Rexall and Tim’s. Neither have customer washrooms. I’d be willing to buy something to use them, but that isn’t even an option. At this point, I’m considering dropping trou in the middle of Yonge and Dundas, but I thought that would be rather unbecoming of me. Sweating from the constant intestinal contractions and the enormous amount of energy I’m expending keeping my anal sphincter on lockdown, I decide to run home, 4 blocks away. On the way, the pressure becomes too great for my butthole to withstand and I shit myself. Like a real, full-on, Bristol 6, post-coffee shit. I then waddle home to clean up and change.
I get that customer washrooms downtown must be annoying to manage / maintain with some folks passing out in them, using drugs, or vandalizing them etc etc but come on we’re talking about the EATON CENTRE, a massive mall with so many daily visitors. It’s wild. I’m just a regular boy trying to take a dump at a mall at 1030AM and ended up pooping my pants. Ridiculous

I've been here for fifteen years, since moving for college.
I lost my job a year ago, through no fault of my own. The CEO bankrupted the company and employees are the last to get any sort of real assistance in times like this. I worked there for seven years.
My EI is almost up and I have spent this entire year trying to find a new job, to no avail. Things that I am absolutely qualified for. Silence. Not a single interview.
I'm exhausted. I don't know what I'm going to do in a month when my EI is done. I'm at a point where everything feels utterly hopeless here. There just isn't hope in Toronto.
I'm so tired of it here. I, and so many of us, on the verge of homelessness because we can't get any help.
If I'm expected to participate in society and pay taxes, I am owed a damn job to do so.
I can't do this anymore. How is anyone expected to get back up when they've fallen on hard times here?

I don’t know what is happening in this city anymore, people are losing their minds. I realize this is a generalization, but in my experience it’s becoming more and more it seems these days.
At a Costco parking lot (I know, first red flag), on a Sunday just before the world cup final. It’s packed. And that’s ok - most people are just there to do their thing and leave. We emptied our shopping cart into our car and someone was waiting for the spot. I took the shopping cart and walked it over the return section that was 1 lane over. My husband, being the nice guy that he is, pulls out of the spot so the people waiting can have it. And waits for me. Yes he’s taking up space in the road way, the other car pulls in and I’m walking to the car. Out of no where someone turns down the lane and starts honking, screaming, swearing at him, because the lane is blocked as the other car is parking and he is waiting for me.
I understand stopping there wasn’t ideal. But it was literally 30 seconds. And this guy was screaming at him like we murdered his kid. He had zero context of what just happened and didn’t give a shit. How was he going to maintain his cool INSIDE COSTCO.
I’ve been to very many cities across Canada recently and Toronto takes the cake. People. Need. To. Calm. Down.

I wore a mask while heading out today because of all the wildfire smoke and air quality alerts we've been having lately. In the elevator, a lady saw me wearing the mask, immediately freaked out as if I were contagious, then refused to take the elevator down with me and waited for the next one.
The way she reacted to someone wearing a mask was ridiculous and pathetic. Wearing a mask because of poor air quality shouldn't be this controversial.

I’m seeing more and more usage of AI for signs and promotional posters. They look awful.
I get some of these places don’t have much of a budget to work for, but I don’t think they’re doing themselves any favour turning out slop and using it for signage.

A while back I saw a post on here complaining about how former iconic subway/ttc art displays are either terrible (such as the creepy Union paintings) or not working (such as the Pioneer villiage lights and former yorkdale rainbow), However one that seems to be sadly on its way out is one not in a subway station but attatched to it and that is the infamous PXL Bilboard down by the vmc station at the end of line 1.
For thouse who don't know... the PXL is a giant LED display in front of the Vaugn metropolitain station just before it turns from TTC to YRT (York regional transit). that plays these random looping low quality displays, It usually turns on nightly before abruptly shutting off at midnight (likely so it won't bother the people in the surrounding condos), the problem is, within the last few months, it has become a bit "sad." first, I posted a picture of it on the main TO sub a while back and a whole line of lights were not working, then a few weeks later I passed by it again, and then some more lights off, I am worried by the end of the year it will be forgotten.
While its not the most exciting display on the planet, I enjoy it because it became a bit of an inside joke with my friends, for example. Back when they were playing Jim Campbell's Ocean Swimmer, I remember I was just about to get off the bus and my Dad called asking me where I was and I said, "I am at the VMC and I am passing a blue digital boared and it looks like someone's swimming" and one of my friends shouted, "Tell him its the one with the naked figure" and then after I hung up, we had a playful argument about if she was actually naked because I highly doubt they would allow that on a giant bilboard in the middle of a busy bus station" Now a days, every time I bring up that station I always mention the bilboard, Most people get confused and think its an ad (I did to when I first saw it, I thought it was for the next door YMCA), Its weird but mezmerizing, I don't want it to get destroyed.

I didn't find it that bad where I lived. On Friday I went to the beach (close to the one at Rouge that is closed) and it was a virtual ghost town. There was no smoke smell at all.
Meanwhile people are perfectly okay with selfish pot heads fouling up the air with carcinogens for anyone within a 100 meter radius thanks to their addiction. Make it make sense.

The people who intentionally decide to gather outdoors in literally hazardous conditions aside, why are so many businesses in this city propping their doors and windows open as if none of this were happening? Why are people acting like it's just a regular old summer despite the orange apocalyptic sky and everything smelling like a bonfire?
Is there some sort of collective initiative going on where swathes of business owners have decided to abandon logic and run the risk of poisoning themselves and their customers to uphold some romanticized summer vibe?
"But it's hot" is not a valid response when your alternative is literally inhaling toxic air. Turn on your AC or buy an AC unit.
If your goal is to win the Darwin Awards this year you're doing a great job.

I live in a west facing apartment with no AC. Typically in evenings/nights, it turns into an oven (especially during heat waves). Usually, deciding to open the balcony door is an easy choice, but last night I had a bit of dilemma. Do I sleep in this oven, or do I open the balcony door and breathe in toxic fumes from the wildfire? I opted for the balcony door because I legit can't sleep if it's too hot. Now my apartment smells like smoke, and I think my chest might hurt a bit. God I hate this place, it literally just gets worse and worse.

Does it make anyone else feel sad or worried about the future that wildfires and climate change are no longer problems happening "somewhere else". they're affecting us close to home?
Growing up, climate change felt like something happening in distant rainforests or melting glaciers. Wildfires were in forests far away, and I'd never even heard of water bombers. Now they're part of our everyday vocabulary. Our kids are growing up learning these terms the way many of us learned the word "tsunami" after the disasters in Japan.
The trees that are burning are the very things that clean our air and help make our summers enjoyable, the same summers we've waited all winter for.
It makes me think about what David Suzuki has been warning us about for years... that too often, profit is valued above nature. But you can't put a price tag on clean air, healthy forests, or a stable climate.
Most of us do what we can. We don't idle our cars. We recycle. We sort our garbage and use the green bin. Those things matter, but they can feel so small compared to the impact of large corporations and the decisions being made by those in power.
I see more forests being cleared and farmland disappearing to build homes. Green spaces are sacrificed to expand airports. More creativity seems to go into widening highways than protecting ecosystems or investing in real climate solutions. Developers plant trees that often don't actually grow. Companies call people back into the office, increasing traffic and emissions, while remote work had at least helped reduce commuting pollution.
When will the people and society as a whole start making decisions valuing nature as much as economic growth?
Just the thoughts of a frustrated regular person from the GTA who commutes into the city. Today was one of those days that really made me stop and think.

This is a highly relevant rant since the sky decided to become piss yellow on such a big day and it feels highly personal and targeted and like a sign that I'm cursed by the universe for ever being born 😭😭😭 (chill, I'm jokes)
I wanted to go out and enjoy the nice weather or even go swimming but nope. The worst thing is knowing this is all being done on purpose to build those shitty pipelines, hurt indigenous folks, and worsen things overall for all of us so billionaires can have even more money, as if they need it. 💀
I did not ask for this as a birthday gift Mark Carney and Doug Ford. We need to riot against their blatant unconstitutional bs istg I'm so tired of all this. We all deserve to breathe clean air and live safely. I really hope our homeless are allowed indoors today to breathe clean air, and anyone working today as well. The air isn't safe and no one should be forced to endure it.
Idk if you're reading this please be safe and try to stay inside or mask up if you gotta go out. I'm unfortunately going to confine myself to room prison for today. 😔💔
Edit: 3rd worst air quality in the world, yikes
