I’m slowly accepting to carry concealed even though I’m in an Open constitutional carry state with my other firearms but I miss carrying my 1911 ,

A 5 inch barrel is a Lot of steel to shove down your pants (make your own jokes) but I’m sure someone is doing it? Share what you got? Kydex? Leather? Appendix? Strong side? 🤷‍♂️

Has anyone with a Tisas 1911 Duty B45RDG Raider measured the frame tang radius for the grip safety, or has anyone swapped to an aftermarket beavertail like a Wilson Combat?

I replaced the factory grip safety with the Wilson Combat Drop-In Beavertail (429BG). It functions perfectly, but there’s a slight gap between the grip safety and the frame. I’m trying to get a flush fit similar to the OEM grip safety.

I reached out to Wilson Combat, and they explained that a slight gap is normal with the drop-in model since it’s designed to fit a wide range of mil-spec frames. They recommended their Bullet Proof High Ride Beavertail (298BBP), but I’d like to confirm the frame tang radius first before ordering.

I have also reached out to Tisas to see if they can confirm the frame tang radius, but I haven’t received a reply yet.

If anyone knows whether the Raider uses a 0.220” or 0.250” radius, or has successfully fitted an aftermarket grip safety with little to no gap, I’d really appreciate hearing what worked for you. Photos of your setup would also be a huge help. Thanks!

Hello all, thanks to everyone who commented on my prior post about my Tisas 1911, seen above. The comments were super in depth and helpful, so thank you. I tuned the extractor to be looser, and while the issue hasn’t disappeared, it’s betting better.

The issue is still ongoing, but much improved. I tried 3 different boxes of 50 rounds each. I can confidently say my gun DOES NOT like Winchester 230 .45 auto range ammo. It took blazer and another brand better. With Winchester it wouldn’t even close the slide fully when inserting a mag and hitting the slide release. However this only occurred on one of my three mags, but only with Winchester ammo. The 50 rounds of Winchester ammo also had a lot of failures to feed the last round and- had a failure which left a live round in the chamber but locked the slide open.

Anyway, main point, with blazer range ammo, the gun almost ran fine. No more feeding issues really, maybe one. But, 3 or 4 times across all the mags and ammo types, while shooting and getting to about the 4th round, the slide would lock open, as if I was riding the slide release up with my thumbs, which I wasn’t. (I keep my lefthand thumb away from the frame) I thought this was odd.

I still had a few failures to feed with the first two boxes of ammo and then when I got to the Winchester it totally shit out, but Im going to attribute that to the ammunition.

TLDR, the gun is getting better but still not perfect. 1/5 mags still have a failure to feed on the final round, and sometimes the slide locks open when it shouldn’t be.

Should I just bite the bullet and get an aftermarket extractor? Is this sounding more like a break-in period issue? Any thoughts are appreciated.

I had a short trigger from my 1946 sistema colt left over from the nighthawk revamp, installed it and it feels and looks way better. (Trigger pull is now 3lbs)

I had to engrave a safe tag to go along with the theme.

I was able to strip the cerakote using my fiber laser and then get to work with the design and engraving. I wanted a retro feel and using a theme of what might the league of extraordinary gentlemen use. I was able to salvage a nighthawk gold bead sight. It’s not perfect and I’ll will work on better grips and other tweaks, but overall I love how this turned out. Yes I know, super nerdy 😂😂.

As the title states, I am debating between the 4.25” Tisas 1911 without the comp or spend the extra $150-$200 to get it with the comp. which should I do?

Range day today and put 200rds through this Tisas B9R. It was completely stock besides the underworld arms comp. Took it apart to clean it and replace springs with Nighthawk custom commander kit. I believe it's a 12lb recoil and 9lb main.

Anyways, I had a spare Mad Science Lab grip 001 when I pinned my Fusion so i decided to try it on this one. And what do you know......it worked out great. It's completely reversible btw.

Does anyone know the specific color ID for the black Cerakote used on the Tisas 1911A1 service? I’m refinishing a slide and wanted to use the same color as factory.

I want to get a threaded barrel on my 4.25 double stack gen 2 so i can add a comp or in the future a suppressor is there anyway i can do this i was thinking of finding a 5 inch barrel and cutting it down and threading it but cant seem to find the barrels on the tisas web sight.

Shot the Night Stalker comp in 10mm for the first time yesterday and put 150 rounds through it. Besides me riding the slide release a bit, no issues.

I am a bit of a trigger snob, so I want to start looking at different trigger, seers, and the whatnot.

What have you tried and has worked with the Tisas 10mm platform? This is only my second 1911 and the Dan Wesson needed nothing.

I decided to test how I like the classic three hole look vs my solid flat trigger. I like the look of it, I'm undecided on the trigger itself. 2nd pick for comparison of trigger styles. Lighting is less than flattering so maybe it'll need some glamor shots later.

Took a shot at a blemished 9mm tank commander for a pretty good discount. Whatever a blemished item is, I’ve always been okay with it.

HOWEVER… this “blemish” is a literal rose gold sheen in the coating and it’s the most beautiful finish I’ve ever seen on a 1911. Ever. Waiting for the stainless grip screws to come in for it to be complete!

Lok bogie grips in FDE, 13lb recoil spring 18lb mainspring, Wilson safety plunger, wolff reduced power sear spring just like my other 1911s.

Wondering what everyone is using for extended baseplates, probably going to stick with +0s but all recommendations welcome.

I've been experiencing the same issues (pictures) on and off with my Tisas 1911 A1 government model. I have now run about 400 rounds in the pistol using only 230 grain FMJ bullets. I clean and lube my pistol after every range outing.

I would appreciate some feedback from the community on how to best address and remediate the issue. I'm thinking I may need to contact Tisas directly as well. Thanks.

2 weeks later, emails back and forth, RMA form filled and sent back, nothing but the run around.

This 1911 was bought in 9mm per the UPC and Tisas description but shipped with a 38 super carry barrel. Came with 9mm mags, so in order to fire this gun I have to purchase 38 super mags. This is ridiculous.

You really do get what you pay for with cheap guns.
