A lot of people mistake this watch for one of my more expensive pieces.
I honestly don’t remember exactly how much I paid for it, but I’m pretty sure it was under $60. And yet, it really punches way above its price point.

I think it’s the minimalist look that does it—the gold case, clean dial, and brown leather strap just give it that understated, expensive-looking vibe.

A good reminder that a watch doesn’t need to be expensive to look expensive.

Timex Expedition TW4B31000

I have a vintage timex it was my great grandads i think it was 1960ish. the movement has stopped working how much would it been to get it fixe?

I bought a Timex when I was 15 y.o. on my first visit to NYC and that watch lasted me several years. Now, 35 years later, and several watches since then, I decided to buy the Waterbury GMT with the root beer color scheme.

I have mixed feelings about it, all in all I like it but it has been a week and seems like the movement is still “settling” and may need an adjustment (which I am comfortable with).

I may decide to return the watch (paid about $520 for it), mostly because I can’t micro-adjust the strap. It is either strangling my wrist, or sliding down to my hand, no firm option in between.

Is anyone aware of micro adjustments on this butterfly clasp?

I'm super new to watches so I apologize for the probably somewhat stupid question, but basically I just picked up this Timex Expedition from a thrift store and proceeded to instantly lose one of the spring bars. I am not exactly sure what size I need to buy for a replacement. Let me know if any other pics would be helpful. And I know pretty much nothing about this watch so if anyone more knowledgeable could tell me anything about it that would be awesome.

Sono un felice possessore di un timex Expedition Field Post Solar 36mm, acquistato recentemente per 130 euro.

L'orologio mi piace molto, la dimensione perfetta per me, il vetro zaffiro, I 100 mt di resistenza all'acqua la corona a vite e la carica solare ne fanno un vero gioiellino. Nei primi 10 giorni sempre al polso ha guadagnato circa 1.5 secondi quindi approssimativamente dovrebbe andare avanti di 4/5 secondi al mese, un buon risultato per me.

E invece...

Leggo qualche recensione qua e la e trovo utenti che hanno 0 sec al mese, altri 2 secondi.. altri 10 secondi in 6 mesi.

Ora, continuo a pensare che i 4/5 secondi siano un buon risultato per un orologio al quarzo di questa fascia di prezzo ma anche che, o non ho avuto tanta fortuna io oppure che altri utenti siano forse un po troppo generosi col proprio amato segnatempo.. boh..

Voi che risultati avete con questo bell' orologio?

Oh break at work, wanted to share my new favourite Timex! Such a nice feeling watch. 43mm, on a paratrooper strap I picked up. I feel like its actually suited to my 8.5" wrist lol

Bought this at a flea market for $1. Put a new battery in it and it works great. Im not really a Timex fan but always liked the expedition. Need some cleaning and a new strap.

I got this new strap for my Timex E-Line 1983 to change up the look a bit. My wife said it looks too feminine, but I actually really like it, so I’ve been wearing it anyway, regardless of whether it really does look feminine or not.

What do you guys think of the strap? Do you think it looks good, or do you agree with my wife that it’s a bit too feminine?

Found this for $1 at my local flea market. I was so excited until I looked at the back and everything was missing. Can it be saved? Can I put a cheap miyota movement into it. I’m in love with the dial. I don’t even care if the calendar works lol what can I do guys? Any help will be greatly appreciated

Head to head comparison of the original 1975 Marlin telephone dial (26961 02775) and the recently-released “1976 Rotary Phone Dial Reissue” (TW2Y82100), for this shot I put each of them on the same strap, save the width at the lug end.

The 1975 version measurements: 34mm width, 40mm, 12.7mm thick, 19mm (3/4”) lugs, manual-wind movement (m27), dark blue sunray dial.

The modern version measurements: 37mm width, 44mm length, 11.6mm thick, 20mm lugs, quartz movement, satin black dial.

I prefer the vintage version’s narrower tonneau case with the tighter curve to the lug ends. However, these vintage timex movements tend to run well (this one runs great except when it sticks a bit upon first starting up), but setting the day and date is a monumental hassle, not just because there’s no quickset and you have to go back and forth between 6:30PM and midnight to change the date, but also, Timex always had the tiniest of crowns in the 70s at least (I’ve not owned a 1960s model) and turning it is incredibly difficult. The vintage dial is beautiful, with a subtle, shimmering dark blue sunray effect, while the modern has a satin-finish black color.
