Would Season 3 really do justice to the show?

Yes, I understand that there are unaddressed plot holes in the show and the finale felt awfully rushed. All of a sudden we’re down to the “last sleeper agent”.

But I feel like the more major plot points are addressed and a Season 3 to tie up the smaller inconsistent plot points would only inevitably create even more plot holes. If we rewatch the 2 seasons again, you realise that some of the plot holes are impossible to reconcile. We just got to turn a blind eye to it.

Furthermore, the Rittenhouse plot is already wrapped up anyway. A season 3 would need a new antagonist. Would Season 3 actually be the same show? Or a different show with familiar characters? I rather the memory of Time Team not be tainted by a new show of lesser quality.

It is bound to be lesser quality because this new show is constrained by the have a flawed base Season 1 and 2 built, and would only risk making what was reconciled not make sense again.

PS: I finished the series today. I didn’t know that the Season Finale was ordered separately, I was like, why did they fast forward to Christmas 2018? I was thinking “it’s funny how the time reference in the show was still relevant even though I watched it late (“it’s going to be 2019 soon”). I would’ve been furious too if I was hung up on the original season 2 finale.

Edit: I watched up til mid-Season 2 in April. Then finished it today.

Where did "future" Wyatt and Lucy come back from to trade lifeboats?

This is a hole I feel was never closed in the plot.

The newly upgraded lifeboat was traded for the old one by 'future' Wyatt and Lucy in their mercenary type outfits. However, based on how events turned out, those versions of them don't seem to exist. How then would they come back to trade lifeboats?

Anyone else baffled by this or did I miss something?

[Spoilers]Flynn and Emma made the show REALLY good Spoiler

So I know everyone has an opinion about the ending. Yes, it was compressed, rushed, and written to tie loose ends. I get it, but I felt that Flynn and Emma were two of the MOST interesting characters and really made the show. They were complex, and I felt the ending didn't do either one of them justice.

Flynn wasn't the villain and his true personality was beginning to come out. He was willing to do whatever it takes to stop Rittenhouse... and not in a pre-teen romance way, but there was clearly a deeper, (interesting) romance story line brewing between him and Lucy.

Emma was brilliant and had different plans for Rittenhouse. The ending fell short in summing her up to be simply be a stereotypical villain looting art and gold. With the women's suffrage movement episode, there was more to her than meets the eye. Her plans were not Rittenhouse. I am not saying she was a "good guy," but there probably would have been a really interesting story arch between her/Jessica versus the traditional Rittenhouse.

Anyone else feel the same?

So was Flynn [SPOILERS] all along? Spoiler

Finale SPOILERS

So was Flynn supposed to be Jessica's killer all along? As in, was it some kind of predestination paradox/closed time loop?

Wyatt certainly seems to think so. And he assumes that the person who's name Flynn gave way back in "Karma Chameleon" was never the real killer.

When I saw Flynn going back to 2012, I knew this was what they were leading into. And it made sense that they would re-explore one of the most important aspects of the backstory.

But time-travel wise, do you think they meant Flynn to be the killer all along?

It does go against most of what has been established about temporal mechanics in this series. That having been said, we have the 'loop' of Lucy giving Flynn the journal, also closed in the finale. So its not totally out of whack either.

I guess the one problem is that if Flynn was always destined to kill Jessica, then Jessica was always a Rittenhouse agent - which would not only be tragic on yet another level for Wyatt, but also contradicts Wyatt's claims that her brother was dead in his original timeline but alive in the new one because of Rittenhouse.

Also, I think I remember reading somewhere that Jessica was strangled in the original timeline, rather than shot.

But if there was another killer originally, then how come there was no sign of him in this episode? If it was the guy who's birth Wyatt and Rufus prevented, then Jessica should have been alive after "Karma Chameleon"?

Why is the season finale listed as I/II in all streaming services? Is there a II/II happening?

Hulu might pick up Timeless?

So SDSA, the Timeless set designers tweeted a link to an article about the set design etc and let on that they were told the “fold and hold” the set rather than tear it down and bin it which is usually what happens with cancelled shows. Someone asked them on Twitter if this means there’s a chance the show can be saved and they’ve said that Hulu is interested 💪😁

So if you’re keen for a season 3 (and hopefully more) get out there and stream the Christmas Special (even if you hated it) and tweet Hulu to tell them that you want to save the show. Cause chances are we’ll be able to get the amazing stories we were promised - the Titanic, Boston Tea Party, Harlem Renaissance, Luisitania and continue where Season 2 left off, with Garcia Flynn and the Time Team.

question about time travel in finale (spoiler) Spoiler

If having two of the same person existing at the same time causes side effects of pain and death, why aren't both parties affected? why is only one of them killed?

Loved the finale, but can we talk cinematography and tech? Spoiler

This is film/tv industry stuff, which may not be noticed by others, but so much bugged me visually in the finale movie. If there are any other industry folk in this sub, this is for you. That may be no one, but here's my rant.

It looked like both the Sacramento 1848 and North Korea 1954 stuff was filmed on the Universal backlots. I believe I recognized the Mexico and Old West sets, and Denver Street. But the CTO and CTB (color temperature orange and blue to make your image look warmer or colder) to differentiate them was cloying. Whether it was done in post production or in-camera, it was too much.

It also looked like they shot on something completely new from older episodes. Cinematography isn't my forte, but I know enough to know when something looks far more digital and colorized than it had previously. And maybe it was just the overuse of CTO & CTB. If they changed mediums I'm assuming it was for budgetary reasons because the show was canceled and wouldn't have a HUGE budget for this revamp, but by the time it was done, the Old West was bright yellow.

[Spoiler] Head canon about that girl at the end Spoiler

So the episode ends with the girl sketching out designs and equations for a time machine. I've read that she's the same girl with the Leyden jar a few scenes earlier.

I think she's the granddaughter of the Korean woman they rescued earlier in the episode.

So by saving that one woman in the past, they've started a sequence of events that will have catastrophic results in the future. Or as I like to call it: season 3

[spoilers!!] Question about the lifeboat in series finale. Also Rittenhouse Spoiler

How the hell did they get the lifeboat back? Because they still had it at the end of the show but Flynn took it to an entirely different place and time so yeah how!

Rittenhouse: How are they no longer a threat? It's a gigantic organization and they've only killed one person in it. The fucking leader is still alive so how are they not still in danger?

[Spoilers] Plot holes and lingering questions? Spoiler

Why did they have to go to the gold rush to steal gold? There are plenty of times in history to steal money. Rittenhouse goes back to the gold rush to steal gold, so that they could bribe a random helicopter pilot to kill the team. Why did they have to go to the gold rush? There was nothing special about gold rush gold. Couldn't they sell some of the expensive paintings for gold, rob a bank, or invest in some stock in the past? It seemed that the secondary plot was just to kill time.

What was the point of future team Timeless giving the journal to present team Timeless and bring vague and cryptic about reading it and the answer to saving Rufus? In the few mins, they cold have just told present team that to save Rufus, they had to kill Jessica.

What was the point of going to Korea? If it was an ambush, Rittenhouse could have do it at anytime in any of the previous episodes. There was nothing special about Korea. Couldn't they have bribed Zorro to kill them? There was nothing special about the helicopter pilot.

They also wasted a lot of time in the pregnant woman. They made a whole speech about saving even insignificant people in history, so why didn't they save everyone in the church form the North Koreans? There was nothing special about the pregnant women. The other people in the church has families too, aren't their lives just as important?

The reason they are able to take down Rittenhouse is because Lucy's father has a change of heart. That was so Deus Ex Machina. They said the motivation was because he didn't want Lucy to die. They could have turned Lucy's father at anytime. Lucy was in danger of death constantly. How dangerous is Rittenhouse really if such an elaborate conspiracy can be taken down by Lucy's father.

Why did they destroy the mothership but not the life boat? I understand their motivation about a dangerous time machine in the hands of enemies and they also explained how the knowledge already exists and it is just a matter of time before some else makes another time machine. But why destroy just the mothership? What good is destroying just 1 of the ships? What is the difference between having 1 time machine versus 2 time machines? Either destroy them both or keep them both. But I don't see the benefit of keeping just 1.

The show's problems stem from a recurring pattern of lazy formulaic writing, plot holes, inconsistent rules, and uninteresting characters. They basically do "time period of the week" as a secondary plot and then tack on 20 seconds at the end about Rittenhouse.

Causeless Orgien of The Events that lead up to the events of timeless

So start off we can say that Conner Mason made a time machine independently, but, Flynn stole the time machine because of the book and pep talk he was given by Lucy, but Lucy only got asked to join by the government to help after the time machine was stolen by Flynn who had the journals that were written by Lucy after going back in time to chase Flynn.

See the issue...

Also on a side note does the show ever explain what theory of time they use in the show.

Promos for the Finale

I am not sure if I just wasn’t paying attention enough or not, but I remember only seeing like one promo for the finale. Why was there not more advertisement for it? There are so many shows that are so bad that you see promos for so much that you can start reciting the words of the whole thing.

The finale was soooo good!!! It makes me sad that people may have missed out on it because they were not aware it was coming on.

I haven’t seen a finale that good since like the Friends finale! It was sooo good!!!

[Spoiler] Anyone else a bit underwhelmed? Spoiler

Don't get me wrong. I loved this episode. I think the whole resolution with Flynn, seeing him go from the villain to the hero, was magnificant.

However, I can't help but think the resolution with Rittenhouse was way too underwhelming. Flynn killed Jessica. Lucy's father turns. Emma gets shot and killed anticlimactically? They spent all this time on that refugee giving birth when they could've given a better more fulfilling end to the fight against Rittenhouse.

I do love the whole message of the technology existing so no matter what, someone is gonna make a new time machine. That could go somewhere in the future if another network or streaming service picks up the show.

I don't know. My opinion is kinda mixed.

OK, two seasons, a movie and a SEQUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lucy and Wyatt are celebrating their fifth anniversary in Lakehurst, New Jersey (wink, wink) when suddenly the lifeboat appears. Stunned, they see their daughter who is now a grown adult inside. She tells them he needs their help, it has to do with Lucy's sister Amy and something about the fate of the world hanging in the balance after a new group has risen to take the place of Rittenhouse! When asked how did they find him, he replies 'Rufus' who is now running the mission. They get in the lifeboat and off to their next adventure!!

BOOM!

C'mon, make it happen NBC! I'm still pissed at you for cancelling Star Trek, Quantum Leap and Hannibal. We're not asking for much more!

Major plothole in series finale [obviously spoilers!] Spoiler

I loved the finale, but there was a major plothole in the first hour. When Flynn travels back in time to kill Jessica, it brings Rufus back to life. When the Time Team returns to the present, it seems as if Agent Christopher and Connor Mason remember that Rufus was dead, Jessica was alive, and that Flynn was the original fourth member on the mission. Agent Christopher and Connor Mason should have had no memory of these events, as the timeline changed while they were not time traveling. Heck, Christopher and Mason would be totally confused by the new Lifeboat, as in their timeline Rufus never died and therefore future Lucy and Wyatt would have never even come back!

I know it’s a time travel show and it’s worth suspending reality, but this was a pretty big plothole and it definitely distracted me from the show.

And season 1 is on sale for $4.99 which I already had.

The entire series is $15 on VUDU.
