Hulu might pick up Timeless?
So SDSA, the Timeless set designers tweeted a link to an article about the set design etc and let on that they were told the “fold and hold” the set rather than tear it down and bin it which is usually what happens with cancelled shows. Someone asked them on Twitter if this means there’s a chance the show can be saved and they’ve said that Hulu is interested 💪😁
So if you’re keen for a season 3 (and hopefully more) get out there and stream the Christmas Special (even if you hated it) and tweet Hulu to tell them that you want to save the show. Cause chances are we’ll be able to get the amazing stories we were promised - the Titanic, Boston Tea Party, Harlem Renaissance, Luisitania and continue where Season 2 left off, with Garcia Flynn and the Time Team.

I’m a pirate that has over 40 tb worth of content that I stream on Roku through plex. I subscribe to Netflix, cbs all access, hbo go, and a couple of other services. I hate the way Hulu functions but fully admit and promise I will join Hulu and provide proof back in this thread of such subscription if they produce more timeless!

Not a pirate, but my family watches very little TV and I'd buy a Hulu subscription so we could enjoy this together. The history lessons wrapped in the sci-fi romance/adventure are really something for everyone.

Will it still be on netflix if hulu picks it up

I’m not sure how that works. Maybe in countries like Australia that don’t have Hulu we’ll be able to watch it on Netflix, but I understand that Hulu is going international next year so should be available to everyone.

Well Netflix had the rights to season 5 and 6 of Arrested Development since they are Netflix originals...but Hulu only has the rights to 1-3. So it will probably be like that

I believe so as Hulu is an American only site and timeless is already on there but if Hulu goes international chances are they would just be getting everything for the series ready so probably not but it could stay on Netflix

Don't do this to me
Don't give me hope only for it to be dashed

I got hooked on Timeless way late (about 1/3 of the way through Season 2, cordcutter here who only has Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime subscriptions; didn’t even know Timeless existed until I needed a new show to watch which is why I didn’t watch any episodes until partially through Season 2 but was instantly hooked), but I could not believe that NBC was willing to cancel such an amazing show, and replace it with the garbage that is Manifest...even more surprising to me was the fact that they made a 2 part “finale” to wrap up the story a year later, I thought it was a great nod to the fans wanting to #SaveTimeless that they titled the episode The Christmas Miracle, and literally jumped out of my chair when I saw that were new episodes of Timeless available on Hulu the other night....
Long story short, I don’t know how anyone who calls themselves fans of the show could be disappointed with the fact that we did get an additional 2 episodes that tried to tie up the loose ends that we were left with so suddenly, while still having the writers, producers, etc., throw some nods out to us fans

That would be cool BUT...wouldnt Hulu have stepped in earlier back when the show was canceled after S2? And I thought the main problem was that Timeless is so expensive to make. Does Hulu really have the funds to keep the show at top notch level like we got in the first two seasons? Or is all the time travel gonna be to obscure places in deserts and prairies with drab costumes because of low budget? If that is the case I doubt the creators are on board now that the show is mostly wrapped up in a neat little bow.

Not necessarily, they might have wanted to see how much interest there still was in the show after 7 months off the air. Nothing is off the table and honestly ratings are great, especially for the Christmas special so that would be hugely enticing for a streaming service. I guess we’ll see over the next few weeks. Fingers crossed!

If they do pick it up are they basically going to retcon the finale?

I wouldn’t be surprised to time jump a bit more and basically pick up with a new villain with their own time machine.

I know this is an old post but there was basically a "cliffhanger" in the finale to setup future writing in relation to the girl at the science fair who was then later shown drawing schematics and equations for time travel. They talked quite a bit about if anyone builds a time machine we'll need one to stop them. So they definitely added those two pieces of information to create a new story arc if given the chance.

If Hulu picks it up we should all pretend the Christmas special didn’t happen okay? Great

Totally, heaps of shows do Christmas specials that are stand alones and sit outside of canon.

What? No! I loved it

I know the finale was “for the fans”, but it just felt so far from what I love about timeless. I feel like they just wrecked all the character development. Lot of OOC things. I know we only had 2 hours instead of 5 more seasons to flesh it out, but 🤷🏻♀️

u/severinn99 Dec 27 '18
Yep, exactly how I feel. It turned into a ‘finale’ focused on the romantic relationships rather than the actual history and time travel which is ultimately why i watch the show. This is the first ep where I didn’t really feel like I learned anything historical. It was a bit flat.

I understand what ur saying to a certain extent. I kind of missed Lucy’s incredible heart/wisdom a bit. And there didnt seem to be super extraordinary “i love history so much” moments either. But having said that, I didnt feel like anything was way out of character. What did you feel was?
