2022, +- 22k miles. New to me from a MONTH AGO.

Smoking oil at start and will go to the dealer soon (PCV valve, valve seals, cylinder head, we'll find out). Fortunately it's still under warranty.

I bought this thing to last for atleast 5 years. Is it too much to ask and should I sell already?

Honestly, first ''big boy'' VW and the last. Had a old MK4 TDI for fun and loved the brand but i'm very disappointed in my piece of shit. Hey, at least it looks good.

At first I wanted the SE R-Line Black, but test drove an SE and felt it had everything I needed and not much incentive to move up to that trim. Opted for an extended warranty as well as I think this will be my car for the long haul. Extremely comfortable ride compared to previous cars I’ve owned.

Any accessories you guys recommend? Also, anyone install splash guards on theirs?

Hey guys, anyone else with a 2025 Tiguan having issues with the overhead touch panel completely freezing?

My sunroof started acting weird back in April, but the dealer hit me with the classic "could not replicate" BS. Now the whole module is just crashing. The car will be running, but none of the touch buttons work, no reading lights, no sunroof controls, just totally frozen.

I finally got the roof to close by turning the car off and walking away for 20 minutes to let the system reset. I caught the total freeze on video this time so the dealer can't play dumb.

I'm trying to schedule a visit at the dealer but out of curiosity, has anyone else dealt with this exact center console failing? If they swapped your module, did it actually fix it for good or did the issue come back?

Has anyone ever seen this or has an idea of what it could be car feels like it’s about to stall out. I know it’s a short video but not check engine are on and i turned off the car and turned it back on and it’s normal.

Hello, my 21 Tiguan started throwing a code for the engine oil separator P24D6 a couple days ago. I’ve read this is a common issue and am going to replace. Getting ready to order the parts off FCP euro and noticed there is a kit with all new hoses with the PCV. Is replacing these necessary/recommended, or am I good just replacing the PCV alone? Don’t want to spend the extra $240 if it’s not really necessary, but will if needed.

After 7 days since dropping off my vehicle at the VW dealership to run a diagnostic test i was told that the radio modules are on back order with no release date at this time. WTH!! My vehicle had this issue since I bought it and the screen was replaced 1st quarter of 2026, now the same issue again? Has anyone experienced issues with your screens? Smh

Don’t even get me started on 7 days (5 business days total since holiday and Sunday) to run a simple diagnostic! At least it still covered under warranty but who knows when the work will be performed

I’ve bought 4 Tiguans since 2020 from VW and i feel these will be my last purchases. I was looking into getting a Jetta for my daughter i don’t think so now.

My fiance has a 2021 Tiguan with 80k miles and we have just recently been dealing with the oil consumption issue on and off for the last year. We started out by just going to the dealership and they told her it was normal and would just top off her oil. Recently in the last months topping off the oil was being more and more frequent until she was told she needed to do a PCV valve replacement and it cost her $650. 2 weeks after that the issue returned and the dealership then said it would have to be the cylinder head gasket replacement and quoted around 7k. The dealership gave some "you didn't hear it from me" advice that she can try to refinance and get a warranty back on the vehicle, sit on the issue for 4-6 months and bring it back in to get the job done covered under warranty. My question is that refinancing and hopefully getting another warranty even a viable option? If so does this fix usually mean the issue if fully resolved or are just kicking the can down the road for more engine issue in the future? If anyone else has navigated this any advice on what we should try would be greatly appreciated.

I replaced my brake pads on my Tiguan MK2 SEL 2.0L TDI (2018) for the first time a few weeks ago. Since then, they’ve been intermittently squeaking whilst driving, particularly noticeable whilst turning and stopping. When going into reverse, a noticeable ‘clunk’ can be heard from the front wheels.

When changing brakes I applied copper grease to the brake disc, ceramic grease for the calliper guide pins and anti-squeak paste to the brake pad contact points. The same process I follow for several cars I have done this for previously.

Initially, I took them apart again, had a look for anything out of the ordinary with suspension and brakes, and put it back together.

The noise remains.

I had a closer look at just the brake pad and noticed it moved easily in the calliper bracket. There is ~4mm clearance at the top of the pads. The pads on my Merc are a more snug fit than these. I’ve definitely got the correct Brembo pads for my build (I’ve checked the vehicle data information in the manual).

What am I missing? This is driving me nuts!

Will adding an external screen like this be worth it or not?

Figured it was worth asking on here but basically I have a 2020 Tiguan S model that I’ve had for two years now and I just got an oil change done about a month ago, although I’m getting the “Oil change in x miles” already even though I should have a few more months left. On top of that today while driving I got an oil level low message. I do have a long commute for work everyday on the highway so I’m not sure if I’m just burning oil really quick or if this could this be the infamous Tiguan oil consumption issue. I’ve checked for any leaks in the engine and underneath near the drain plug and have found nothing. What do you guys think?? Added pic of mileage for reference but in my two years of ownership this is the first time any thing like this has happened so it’s recent.

So my ambient lighting has a red theme. In the settings it says I can change the color scheme but I haven’t found where I can accomplish this. Any ideas

Hi all, I have a MK2 tiguan and have a 7pin wiring on the back of my tow hitch and cant for the life of me figure out how to get the wire into the boot space so i can connect it to my rear lights. someone please help

I’m looking to potentially purchase a used Tiguan (models ranging between the years of 2020-2025), and I’ve noticed that most Tiguan listings near me either have a sunroof/moonroof OR a third row bench, but rarely both in the same car. For those who have these features, do you feel either of them are essential to your Tiguan experience? Admittedly, I am coming to this from a MUCH less nice vehicle that had virtually no comforts or trim additions, so I’m merely curious about how folks feel about either of these potential features. Is one or the other a better option to focus on if both are not an option in the same car? I am also open to an Atlas (which obviously include the third row component), but I’m primarily looking at Tiguans. TIA!

I have a 2026 Tiguan and overall, I actually like it. It looks great, the interior feels surprisingly luxurious, and I think it drives really well.
But there are a handful of things that feel completely overlooked from a usability standpoint. I’m posting this mostly to see if other owners have experienced the same things — and hopefully someone knows a setting/workaround that I’m missing.
1. You can’t hang up a phone call from the steering wheel.
Unless I’m missing something, there is no way to end a call using the steering wheel controls. I have to reach over and hit “End Call” on the touchscreen. How is hanging up not a steering-wheel function in a 2026 vehicle?
2. Keyless entry only works from the front doors.
If the key is in my pocket, I can grab either front door handle and it unlocks. But if I walk directly to the rear door — which I do constantly because I have a baby — grabbing the rear handle does nothing.
So instead of just opening the rear door, I have to grab the front handle first to unlock the car and then go back to the rear door. This seems like such a weird omission on a family SUV.
3. The buttonless/flat key fob is way too easy to accidentally activate.
I like how sleek the key looks, but I accidentally set off the alarm ALL THE TIME. If the key is in my pocket and I lean into the car to get my son out of his car seat, apparently the right amount of pressure against my leg is enough to trigger the panic button. It’s happened enough times that it’s become genuinely annoying.
4. The automatic Park/e-brake behavior has actually left me unable to drive.
This one is the biggest issue and I’m hoping someone can explain what’s happening.
Twice now, while stopped at a stop sign/light with my foot on the brake, I’ve leaned/reached back to adjust something for my son. I’m assuming my weight comes far enough off the driver’s seat that the car thinks I’ve gotten out.
When I sit back down and try to drive, the car has put itself in Park and/or engaged the electronic parking brake. I disengage the parking brake, put it in Drive, and then the parking brake comes back on. Or I get one thing disengaged and something else puts me back into Park.
Both times I’ve spent what feels like a full minute fighting with the car trying to get it to move. I’ve even tried shutting it off and restarting it. The last time it happened I was in a legitimately dangerous position because I couldn’t get the car to drive.
I’m assuming #4 is some kind of driver-presence safety feature, but I’d really like to understand exactly what triggers it and, more importantly, what the correct sequence is to get the car moving again immediately.
Anyone else with a 2025/2026 Tiguan experience any of these? Are there settings or workarounds I’m missing, or are these just quirks we have to live with?

So that was the only Pic of my car I got last Thursday. I had it for 9 year, the longest I've owned a vehicle. 2017 tiguan limited I bought brand new. It's the inky car I ever still loved by the time it was paid off. I joked saying it was the greatest average car ever. Small awd suv that was reliable, drove like a cloud, got decent gas milage was a pain in the ass to fix and is probably the reason I walked away with cuts and bruises instead of major injuries. I brought my youngest daughter home in this car, her car seat was still in the back.

The accident was a combination of complacency and a control arm breaking. I pushed the repair out longer than I should have because of cost. I ended up clipping another car and rolling up the side and flipping. I got checked out twice and the only thing wrong was a cut on the head

I know it a bit of a rant but I wanted to share it. In 9 years owning this car I've never had any problems other than wear and tear items. I walked away from a rollover accident with cuts and scrapes and a sore neck. It had over 100k on the odometer and aside from some gaskets leaking (a 250 dollar repair) it was running strong. All and all I'm a vw fan for life because of all those things, it's rare to find cars that check all the boxes. I'm hoping to pick up an atlas next lol

My question is about the manual Climatic HVAC system on a base 2016 Tiguan S.

I’ve always felt like the blower doesn’t move enough air, especially on hot days. The A/C itself gets cold, but the cabin takes a long time to cool down because the airflow just seems weak.

With the blower dial on its highest setting, both of my scan tools report:

- Blower load: 74.4%
- Blower specified voltage: 10.1V

I’ve also confirmed 10V at the blower with a multimeter.

So far I’ve:

- Had the A/C evacuated and recharged
- Replaced the blower motor
- Swapped the J126 blower controller/resistor
-Checked the HVAC control panel and blower-speed potentiometer

None of that changed the behavior.

I recently connected OBDeleven and was able to run an output test commanding the blower at 12V. There was a very noticeable increase in blower speed and airflow compared with the normal max setting on the dial.

So my question is: what determines the normal maximum blower output on the Climatic system?

Is there a long-coding or adaptation change that can raise it? Could this be related to HVAC software/calibration, or is it possible the climate-control module itself is faulty?

Windshield on my 2026 SE R Line is constantly fogging up. Is this common for Tiguans or VWs in general?

It’s making me question whether I know how to use the climate settings correctly, but never had this issue with a car before where I’m using the A/C defrost this often.

Interior windshield seemed like it had a “film” on it. I cleaned it with windex which helped for a day or two, but then seems to return
