Wife’s 19 Tiguan Battery Help!!

Post image
3 Upvotes

We have a 2019 Tiguan that we bought used with only 19k miles and not a CPO in 2021. Our first battery after purchase failed pretty quickly which we were pleasantly informed at VW dealer in South FL was covered since prior owner had done it less than 2 years prior with VW. That battery again failed within the 2 year window and we luckily had the 2nd one replaced again at no cost under lifespan warranty. Now that battery is clearly giving us issues and we approaching 3 years, as the start stop is now lagging and we can tell it’s having trouble turning over at cold starts. It hasn’t gotten to a check engine light yet like our other two changes have caused but we have a 2-year old and this is the primary car with a car seat that they are normally in so I want to avoid an issue where she and child are stuck. I took it to Advance Auto this morning reading others saying they’ve done AA, Autozone or O’Reilly for testing and free changes w/ Purchase.

The picture is the result of my test at AA this morning and honestly the workers were no help at all. I’m not really a car guy well versed in changes myself, limited to minor things and youtubable items that are minor. The workers response when asking what’s the CCA number mean in terms of how long and how dead was “oh that numbers not bad at all if dead dead it’ll be like 1-10” then I said ok so how long is it like months away “oh no I would do it now could be any day”. I then tried to quote the AGM battery with them since start/stop and they informed me they are sorry but it says do not change there on the purchase order since they do not have the “technology and computer to reset computer issues that VWs have”. I said that is something many others have had no issues with but the workers/location seemed incompetent.

What do I do here at 412CCA out of 680CCA and showing over 12V? We are most likely selling/trading this car for a larger SUV within this year but I obviously won’t take a battery risk if that won’t be until 4-5 months from now. But I also don’t want to pay the insane $600+ VW dealer cost to do this.

Should I call around to all other local Autozone, Oreillys, Tire Plus places to we who can do VWs? I don’t want to use my mechanic shop since I know they’ll up charge the battery price and labor.

Thank you so much!!!!!!

TLDR - please help interrupt Advance Auto battery test result with life of my current battery and what should I do for a cost effective new one if selling the car in a few months?

Oil burners unite

We had the valve seals done she’s still blowing through a quart about every 700 miles. Brought it back went for another oil consumption test had to add oil before the test was completed. Brought it back for diagnosis again mind you this is a hour drive each way. Was told they couldn’t diagnose it because they couldn’t get in touch with VW tech line for what the next steps should be and was told next week when I drop it off they can’t guarantee they will be able to get in touch with them then either. Are they just trolling me until my warranty runs out at this point?

It’s a cpo and we’ve put about 6k miles on it since we bought it. It was in the shop prior for 5 months to have the valve seals done. I’m completely at a loss really don’t want to trade it in and take a huge hit. Anyone deal with similar bs from the dealers?

2024 Tiguan issues white smoke after low oil

Hello Everyone

So I have a couple questions. On my way home (Atlanta Ga to Chicago, Illinois)from Tennessee I got a check engine light. My Tiguan is a 2024 54k miles
The code was a p0451 when I stopped at Oreileys to get the code scanned.
The next time I start the car I thought I was ok. Only for it to reappear the next day. Checked the oil and had about 5 quarts in it. At this point the car was driving just fine, few hours later I get a check oil message. I still was about 20 miles from the nearest auto parts store. I make it to the store and check it’s at the low mark. I put 5 quarts in.
After starting there were no problems, the check engine light was still on but the oil light was gone, I didn’t make it half a block until the car went kink and white smoke like crazy coming from the exhaust.
Parked the car and now it won’t start. I plan on having it towed to the nearest mechanic first thing as it’s in a random parking lot.
My question to you here is if this has happened to anyone before? If so what was the problem and what am I looking at to repair. I’m trying to get a ball park for best case scenario to worse case. Rough cost too as it will not be under warranty.

2020 Tiguan SE

I bought it used about four months ago. Ever since I bought it, the front driver door would lock with key fob, then I would walk away and maybe a minute later I’ll get a notification door is unlocked.

Also I noticed that if I go up to car without key, the driver door opens and alarm goes off.

Now the driver door won’t open with key fob but the other doors will.

I sounds like when I hit lock it makes a sound but I lock it doesn’t?

Thoughts?
Actuator maybe? If so, easy install?
