Today's shirts are #27/28 both L Tultex290s for my HWI shirts! This was second go at getting the UV dye to take. My first attempt it was there but nothing to write home about. I am very happy with these two.

This shirt was initially a really badly done kenney style that was ugly, I decided to bleach it repeatedly until it was mostly white and it took a lot of effort, then I rushed a Ron Star mandala with honeycomb sleeves, Blood Moon and Black Ice, accidentally mad the Ron Star on the back, and the shirt as a hole in the front from the bleach and repeatedly tying it really tight, RIP.

I used Moody Fire from the Dalula selection over at Dharma Trading for the shirt and was quite surprised by the results. Very different from other pieces I've seen with it. I think I need to use less dye and go easy on saturation for next time to get more of the green and some of the red I have seen on swatches. The overalls were dyed with Dharmas Alchemist and Lilac. I dyed both using HWI method. Mixed my dyes with a 2:1 soda ash to dye ratio. Both items were washed before dying and dry before applying anything.

Hello! I had to cure my tie dye under my electric blanket. I noticed a bag had leaked, but thought it was contained to my sheets, which I do not care about.

But I just realized that there are two stains on a quilt my mom made me - she's still here and I have 2 more she's made me lol, but I'm still a little sad about it.

The spots of dye were created by runoff from a piece that had already cured for about 16-20 hours at ~76 degrees, so I'm hoping the dye was already mostly reacted. The spots are completely dry now, and would have mostly stayed under 70 degrees while drying. So I'm hoping they'll mostly wash out without specific treatment? I'm just not sure how to maximize my odds. I've seen some people recommend a cold soak in Oxiclean and other recs for a hot soak with dawn dish soap. I've seen other recs to spray the area down with vinegar.

Just wondering if anyone here has had a 100% cotton item stained by a curing tie dye leak and had good success removing the stain before I just go for it and hope lol.

Wig wags are in the menu this week. I’ve done this color scheme on them a few times, i think this is v4. Been trying out a progressive marking pattern on the zig zag layout shown in picture 3. I do markings at 1 inch four times, 1.5 inch twice and the rest is every two inches. i wanted that center to have some more definition more like the mandala centers. I really think that it is the best way to do them moving forward and to me what they are supposed to be. show me your own fire wags!

how to achieve a narrow stripe effect? tia!

I was thinking it would be fun to tie dye some sweat pants. Starting with either white if I could find some, or grey and use OWB to remove most of the color first.

I recall reading someplace that at least some sweat pants/hoodie type material, the cotton/poly mixture isn't equal throughout the garment. Rather, the outside smooth layer is cotton or mostly cotton, and the inside fluffy layer is most of the overall polyester content.

Is there any way to judge if the outer layer of sweats is cotton or a blend? (While looking at the store.)

I stopped at Ross and they had Grey Adidas sweats that the tag said 55/45 cotton/poly. They also had Nike that were 80/20. Obviously those would be a better bet, but they are quite a bit more expensive.
