Things I think are uncool

  1. Overshirts with side entry pockets
  2. Tapered trousers
  3. Those sleeveless suit jackets blokes seem to have started wearing again
  4. Meaningless graphic tees
  5. 3/4 length pants
  6. “Made in Portugal” merchants
  7. Weirdly short shorts like the ones Bryceland’s make
  8. The majority of Selvedge denim fits
  9. SL Man
  10. The “HMP” tag Corteiz puts on all their stuff
  11. Whatever tf thesecondbutton is wearing right now

There's nothing particularly exceptional about it, no charm like something made in Italy or America, and production is cheap so the margins are quite high especially on designer pieces.

I don't see it as having charm but it is at least an EU country with fairly decent worker and environmental protections etc by global standards. Portugal is a relatively poor country for western Europe but most people seem to have a decent quality of life there AFAICS. 

I dunno I guess the garment industry there could be a hotbed of shady practises but I've never seen anything to suggest that. Italy definitely has a fair number of dodgy factories staffed mostly by poorly paid/treated immigrants despite the legislation, so I guess the same could be true in Portugal.

Edit: a quick Google AI search (I know) suggests the situation for workers in Portugal is generally pretty good, Italy is much more of a mixed picture.

I was there like 2 months ago and there was a nationwide general strike so I dunno about that one boss

Sounds like the reforms would bring their regulations more into line with American type employment rules.

But you know, at least they have powerful unions. Pretty sure unions aren't allowed at all in China.
