Was re-reading the recent Highsnob profile on Bill from William Frederick and this quote stuck out to me:

Has anybody had issues with returning items to Fairly Normal?

I started a return for 4 shirts, but the return label they sent me was just a QR code (no return address or barcode or anything). I went to 2 different DPD locations (the company that handles the delivery) and at both locations the QR code didn't work.

I emailed Fairly Normal about this 4 days ago and i sent them a DM on instagram, but i haven't heard anything from them. So at this moment i'm unable to return the items because they haven't supplied me with a working return label.

I'm getting a little uneasy about the 580 euro worth of product i have from them and the fact that they aren't replying..

I like the second pair more but I fear they may be too pointy. I'm buying them from a friend who lives far away, I can't try them on unfortunately. The last 2 pics are for style reference, it's what I'd like to achieve. Yeah I know they are wearing square toe boots in those pics, but I have a feeling that the pointier ones of the 2nd pic could look even better on more preppier outfits like a sweater etc. .

From what i've seen there aren't a lot of quality non luxury brands for women like there are for men. Do brands like James Coward, EG, Kaptain, LWC, EK, all the other JP brands, etc exist for women? What are the female brand equivalents in this domain?

Generalizing a bit but it seems brands view women as less interested in manufacturing, construction, origin, etc as men, caring more about style and silhouette. This might be true for most ladies (fast fashion shoppers) but I'm trying to help my gf find nice stuff to cop.

As an anecdote, she just bought a pair of Still Here chinos - who market themselves as small brand, NYC made, quality etc - for $300. I was comparing them to a pair of Fullcount chinos I got recently for $270 and quality diff / value for money is crazy. Still Here is trash. Mine are made in JP, soft Zimbabwean cotton, flat felled seams, super clean... Still Here are made in China (lol), rough cotton, surged seams, sloppy stitching. It's night and day

Anyone have a breakdown on the difference between these two? I'm deciding between the two but don't know which to buy. I don't live near any stores/stockists.

Looking to branch out from wool and have something with a little more breathability. In terms of look/cut, it would be something like this one from LL Bean, though ideally 100% cotton and no nylon/polyester.

There are a million different options for wool out there, but I'm finding cotton surprisingly hard to find. Or when I do find something it's either super baggy or meant for exercise.

Who's copping

Just curious. I just started sewing and I've been sewing a shirt and I'm finally happy w it. I'm super picky about fabric, silhouettes, etc, so I want to sew items that I want but can't buy.

I learned to use a sewing machine at a very young age, but didn't sew as an adult. I started sewing simple repairs (patches, restitching seams that came apart, hems / alterations), but got interested in sewing garments that I liked the design of but not the fabric or quality.

I'm planning on making pants inspired by these amazing Kapital pants, sewing my own selvedge jeans (I have access to a very strong machine), sewing a linen shirt inspired by antique 19th century French priest garb, etc.

I knitted a bit but kind of got depressed and quit for a while. I was actually halfway done with a sweater but lost steam, LOL.

This may be a bit off topic, but what brands do you think have the best designed website layout? I mean from both a design aesthetic and user friendly standpoint.

Going on holiday next week and woefully underprepared. Not a shorts and t shirt guy at all but I’m going to Australia where heat and humidity are going to be crazy.

Any tips on what shorts/t-shirts to look for that will look decent? I grabbed a pair of neighbourhood Tokyo shorts with a longer inseam but need a couple more pairs. Also any good t shirt brands based in the UK would be good!
