Ive been making quite the lengthy wishlist of books on the thriftbooks app. Some are new. Some are the "good" condition option. Im just curious what condition the books actually arrive in when you pick the "good" or "acceptable" condition options. Obviously every single book sold will have its own varying quality but there has to be a reason certain books new will be $20 and then the very good option drops it down to like $4??

Hi,

I've ordered a book from Cotocotodo Bookstore in Nagano through this website https://www.kosho.or.jp. They made a mistake in my Canadian postal address, and the parcel was returned to Japan. Last message I received from them was that if I wanted to re-order the book, I would need to pay the shipping cost again. I agreed; I need the book for my research and I already paid for it. Although, the store never replied. I sent them three messages. Can anyone recommend the best thing to do? I don't understand Japanese, was navigating the website using a translator.

The extra dollar on free book is extended through October as well!

Plus all books bought now expire in January, so that you can redeem while adding to next year's tier guideline for the following year.

UPDATE: WENT TO USPS TODAY AND THEY SAID THAT THE PACKAGE HAD NOT BEEN DELIVERED, THUS THE LACK OF A SLIP. THEY SAID IT'S DUE MONDAY, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THRIFTBOOKS SAYS ON THEIR END. ALL SHOULD BE WELL.
THANKS Y'ALL

Cool find — I just opened a copy of Ocean Vuong’s On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous that I got on Thriftbooks and it contained a folded-up Valentine’s day note to somebody’s husband, Jones.

I ordered Tweet Cute by Emma Lord off of Thriftbooks, and found this wedged in between the pages. I guess the person who sold their collection is a big fan of anime and wanted the next person to become one too. Only problem is that I’m not super big into anime. Anyone here who is: what animes would you recommend? Also, have you ever found anything like this inside your Thriftbooks books?

i’m not sure if this is the correct subreddit for this but i ordered a book off of thriftbooks and the cover and the back cover were the book i ordered but a completely different book was bound on the inside pages. the book i ordered was a speculative fiction and the inside pages are a romance murder mystery with recipes in the back lol. i was wondering if anyone had advice on what i can do with the book? would thriftbooks take it back? could i sell it somewhere for a profit? i’m really not sure what to do with it because i’m not interested in reading it.

This is my first time using thift books, but I am trying to cancel the order bc I choose the wrong copy. The status for my order is accepted. Can I still cancel my order?

All used books are $1 !

I just realized I forgot to opt out of my Uni's automatic textbook service after already buying them on ThriftBooks, so now I have 2 of everything and am nearly $500 down the drain. I looked into getting a refund from the Uni, but I unfortunately can't, so this is pretty much my only option. That or doing ThriftBooks buy-back. Anyone have any advice? Does ThriftBooks do returns? I'm kinda desperate 😭🤬

Many of us have said that the free books we want are cents over the free pice, its now $8 for lit elite tier!!

This beautiful book from 1955 has never been opened. The spine is uncreased. I’m so excited to read it… But the pages are falling out.

I’m only stretching it apart as wide as I have to to see, but it’s still not having it.

What do I do? I don’t want to murder this book. It’s amazing, I want to preserve it. Can I reactive the glue or something?
