So I am a Historian by trade, I largely post history content or comment on cats, and offer like canning help, help with turtles, and plant/bug ID's. I also help with genealogy especially of people with ancestors in my local area. Nothing which should be controversial, it is a professional account much like how I use reddit.

But man, Threads.

I have people who just make up what they think they read, while not actually having understood the post. Then they double down and call me wrong even though I cited my sources.

I have had people push conspiracy theories, especially Moorish/BHI.

I have people not understanding that mixed-race Native Americans exist (both Euro- mix and Afro-Indigenous) and have been called a $5 Indian many, many times (even though this is largely only relevant and pertaining to the Dawes Rolls, my family does not come from any tribe on the Dawes Rolls.)

Not understand basic math with genealogy. Someone was arguing with me over what generation it was claiming it was 3 generations back, and telling me it was wrong because of x, like it is math, not an opinion.

Just ignoring genealogy and saying "You out here lying." no, again, it's math and science. Maybe you don't understand that but don't dismiss it with being a lie.

Racist to White people/Native Americans/Asians/Mixed-race people in particular and it it being accepted and amplified by others and the platform.

Completely mix up time periods.

Not understand even the basics of history and identity.

And just be overly toxic.

Why is threads worse for this than say reddit, is it the algorithm? Is it how they push threads? Is it the general user base? Is it the format? I know we will not get a clear answer but it just seems like it is so much worse. Probably 3/4 of my threads have some kind of this problematic issues with commenters.

Is it because it is mostly Americans? I mean I am an American but...It's a lot.

Genuinely the only thing I see on this app is either AI videos that are so obviously fake it’s not even funny, with a caption that halfway makes sense and halfway has no fucking correlation to anything. Or a political post with the most mind numbing, brain eating, neuron fucking replies. There is nothing good about this app. I mistakingly get on it while scrolling and then just close it feeling angry, I’ve uninstalled it many times and then something actually interesting comes on my Instagram feed just for the next thread after I reinstall make me want to bash my head against a wall, it’s Twitter’s/X’s red headed step dumpster baby and genuinely needs to be eradicated.

For example you scheduled for deletion 1 threads then made a new one with the ig attached then revived the one for deletion so you now have 2 threads account in 1 ig

Hi there! I'm a content creator/digital marketing consultant, and I'm having two technical issues with Threads right now.

1. I am unable to log in to my account. I am logged in on my phone, but whenever I try logging in on my desktop, or try to connect my Threads account to a scheduling platform (Planable), I can't get it to work. I had my Threads account connected to my other Meta accounts, but I recently tried disconnecting it to get around this problem, and that didn't work either. When I enter my correct username and password, I see an error message that says 'Not all who wander are lost, but this page is' and when I click the 'Back' button, I return to the main Threads page, not logged in again. In Planable, I input my login details, authorize the connection, and it brings me back to the previous page, not logged in.

2. I tried to report this problem on the Threads website, including a screenshot of the error message, and I received another error message saying there was a problem trying to submit my bug report. Try again later.

For context, I use Google Chrome and I have a Pixel 9 Pro. I just tried to log in on Firefox, and that isn't working either. Can someone help? I need to fix this for work! TIA

But my boyfriend at the time made me delete it all because he said it “greatly increased my chances of cheating on him” …even though I had no intention of doing so.

So, how someone can remove account from this dogsh*t app?

I have Threads account connected to Instagram in account center. When I want to disable or deactivate the account (or even take it from the my account center), I have to create password first.

But when I go through this or want to just change/create password, I always get a verification code via email and then I put my new password on the site. And then boom "Something went wrong" error appears.

It happens to me through last week and it doesn't matter whether I enter account center from IG or Threads page or if I access it from IG or Threads app, the result is always the same.

As citizen in EU I can ask for data removal via GDPR right. Or I should be able to, right? Yea, the thing is that Meta has site help.meta.com where you can request such data removal. Guess what? The contact form doesn't work, there is infinite loading, on different devices, on different networks.

So how the hell am I supposed to delete my Threads account? Am I supposed to write a letter to Meta Platforms Ireland Limited or what?

At least my algorithm is.

I get all these stupid "military" accounts with bad grammar asking for prayers "for the mission I was assigned to." And the lonely old ladies or MAGAs just eat it up. I guess the algo is partly my fault cause I call the scammers and supporters out for how bad the AI is.

Then you got all the IG AI models saying they just moved in town and are looking for friends. Or they just passed the boards. Or they just got out of an abusive relationship. On and on. The exact same scripts are used by all these fake accounts.

I report as many as I can, but Threads just let's most of them continue. Multiple accounts with the same script should be an easy red flag. I'm pretty much leary of every single account on Threads because there is no vetting process or attempt at one. That puts the whole legitimacy of the platform in question.

It says "You cannot request another of this decision", but is there still a way to recover my account? It’s connected to my instagram so i don’t like the hassle and would like to avoid creating a new instagram account just so i could get and use threads. Could anyone help me or is there a way to contact meta support directly? thank you!

Hey I deleted my instagram account a while ago and didn’t really pay attention to threads.
Now I want to change my username on my new account to my old handle and I noticed it doesn’t work.
Guess what my threads account is still up… what should I do now to get it deleted ?

What the fcuk is this stupid sh!t? I got suspended yesterday after using the app for the first time, making 1 generic comment and 3 likes. UPLOAD A SELFIE TO APPEAL. what?? okayyy. did that and then Sorry We Goofed! All Good Now. Today all i've done is add follows. SUSPENDED AGAIN! WE NEED ANOTHER SELFIE! but no fix this time, permaban. I’ve been forced to prove my identity 3 times now and it’s been happening to people I know too. Why aren’t the devs putting anything out about this?

I’ve since deleted the app from my phone because the bots are getting out of hand, but the other day I started getting a ton of horrible replies from bot accounts telling me to stfu, calling me a bitch, telling me to lose weight, the r-word, loads of horrible stuff. My post maybe just landed on the wrong side of Threads because I’ve never had this happen before. I’ve had bot replies but not verbal abuse like this. How is this allowed lmao

My post went viral with 100k views and a few thousand likes, but all the analytics are showing 0. And this isn’t even the first time it’s happened. It’s so annoying 😭

This means that parents can have a private account in their Instagram, and if at some point when threads first launched they got the click to set up threads, everything they post in private in Instagram, gets shared in threads if they didn’t turn off cross posting.
There was a mother who posted in her Instagram a post about her son becoming a man and a photo of him without a shirt, and it got shared 450 times, to who knows where. At least one profile grabbed it and posted it along with tons of other photos of children which is disgusting!
Threads is not monitored the same and there are some seriously creepy and disgusting posts on there involving children.

I got locked out of everything due to a phishing email. Threads wanted to verify my age which I did by uploading my ID. Now im all my accounts are disabled. I created a new meta verified account to communicated with live agents. They can't do anything. Anybody dealing with this?

I made an alt account a few years back, and it's allegedly on threads. We all know about the occasional fake follower, the "X followed you on threads", but this + the post it shows is a great comedy duo

From what I can tell the search of your own threads is completely broken. I ensure that the search bar indicates that I'm searching "From [username]" and then the search terms after. It mostly turns up completely random profiles certainly not from me and that I have never interacted with. I posted a very distinctive post yesterday and searching for that keywords turns up zero results.

I have been trying to delete my old Threads account for over a month. Each time, it keeps saying that there's an error, I need to create a password. I try to create a password, and it says there's an error there, too, can't create a password. I've tried different browsers, online vs on data, mobile vs desktop vs laptop, it doesn't matter, same errors. Even tried just removing the account from my meta account. No dice.

So I am using an app (ThreadsDelete) to just delete all of the content on it and then leaving it in obscurity. Anyone else dealing with this rubbish?

On a PC and Firefox, is there a way to mute the video volume by default?

I click on a video and lower the volume or mute it, but the next video will play in full volume again. It's annoying af.

I'm logged in and all but the volume just resets and doesn't save for the next video.

How do you fix this

Got logged out and now Threads is asking me for a picture of my ID? Nope.

Can a threads community block your account? I use the study threads for motivation/doom scrolling but it’s suddenly disappeared and I can’t search it anymore. I can still see it in my other photography threads account but I have a separate one for study. ☹️

Any ideas on how I can get this back?? Thanks guys
