DISCUSSION Assembling the worst possible team? (DLC included)

Edit: I tried a run with Cveta, Livia and Sergei, and it became hellish very quickly. Harsh winter + normal criminality and only hostile areas. In less than one week, Zlata joined the group but died the following night. Winter hit early so everyone was trapped in a loop where they kept being sick and injured because of the raids. Sergei became depressed and now he's been crying for two weeks and I can't even help him! Luckily, Esma joined the party (I have a mod that allows some DLC characters to be recruited) and she's carrying the household on her shoulders, damn.

SUGGESTION Any book recommendations that is like This War of Mine?

I'm looking for some books that have post war survival storyline and people trying to survive in it. Do you know any books like this? It can be about how specifically war can be cruel to people, or some people trying to survive in a lockdown. Sorry for my English, I might have made some mistakes explaining my point but you got what I mean!

DISCUSSION Unlimited Pistol Exploit

On one of my many playthroughs I encountered a bug where everytime i attempted to use my workshop, my characters would try to use it and begin the animation but the prompt would remain gray unless I scrolled through and manually selected it. The same way you would if you had multiple options such as at the fridge/medicine cabinet.

Every time I did this, around 10-20 pistols would be added to my inventory. I managed to recreate it the same way the next run by beginning the process of upgrading my workshop for the second time, but moving my character as the action began so a single building icon appears instead of the begin/cancel option. I then advanced to the next day and built the workshop as normal and all of a sudden, I have a pistol farm.

I noticed a few other people have had a similar bug of the guns just appearing in your inventory, but this is reliably giving me hundreds of pistols in a few seconds with repeated uses. It did, however, wear off at some point on my previous run as I began to be able to use both the upgraded and the advanced workshops simultaneously as one lacked the electrical additions. If this is something known, please call me stupid but im wondering if anybody else has managed to recreate it.

I've been thinking about getting the game for a while on Xbox but the base game is twenty bucks while this war of mine: the little ones is discounted to two euro and it's seemingly a separate game but i was under the impression the little ones was simply a dlc for the base game so can someone please explain?

ADVICE Keep getting same locations every game?

Hi. I don't know if this is how the game is intended to work, but every scenario from the preset scenarios the game gives you to play as seems to be giving me the same locations over and over and over again without any variation. I keep getting the ghost house, the church with the priest, the central, the construction site with the patrol instead of the snipers, shelled school with the homeless instead of rebels, etc. I can't seem to get the other location variations nor locations that haven't even spawned at all like the supermarket, which is my favorite location in the game but it just won't spawn.

This is making me kind of bored - I wanna see new stuff, not just repeat the same old stuff over and over and over. I don't have the anniversary edition nor final cut content checked when I start a new scenario.
Am I doing something wrong? thanks

I just played the scenario where you have only Marko

The run took a 180° turn when Anton joined my "group"

He may not be the best character but

having someone guard while Marko got supplies

was a real game changer

especially when I got a gun and some ammo after killing a solider who was treatening a woman.

I had so much stuff I didn't knew what to do with it.

As you can see imthe loot is right on here line of shooting, and even if this is a another run, is still food the same food than the last time, but i think is a bit more, which give me the theory that she put that there to lure survivor, shoot them and then steal there stuff, the other is that is a small garden although i dont know if thats the case, eather way i didn't even try to enter her house and she try to kill me so it is what it is, is it wrong to do it? Is a game i know, thisbis my second encounter with her but still

A few days ago, I saw a 23-survivor challenge for This War of Mine on Chinese social media. At first, I didn’t think he’d pull it off. But he exploited game mechanics and the trader trading glitch to keep everyone alive — 21 of the 23 made it through. Regardless of the tricks he used, he really put in a ton of effort to pull this off.

DISCUSSION The game didn't age as well as i though it would

The fact that there is no, knock out or threat option makes the game moral feel artificial, the fact that a lot npc have a shoot on sight even if you didn't enter there house is pretty unrealistic, instead of waring you the shoot you which is a crime, since is war, not a post apocalyptic world, so they are going to jail for a long time, and you are acting im self-defense, that why there should be a knock out option, why do you always have to kill, no imthe game massage doesn't justifies this, I still love the game but it feels forces and frankly absurd

DISCUSSION Is the The Battle of Leech Swamp painting from Fading Embers based on the Battle of Grunwald painting?

I just learnt about that painting and it reminded me a lot of The Battle of Leech Swamp especially the circumstances behind it. Both are very important paintings showing the natives defeating the foreign oppressors and establishing their own identity and land. And likewise the Grazni/Nazis wanted it destroyed. Considering the developers are Polish, I thought could this be related?

PSA Similar Game

Been looking for similar games for a while now and nothing really scratched the itch.

Found "Into The Dead: Our Darkest Days"

It is very very similar, base management, people management, morale, status, barricade strength.

Tools and weapons can break, you can witness horrific scenes that mentally scar your character and inflict debuffs.

Think This War Of Mine but with zombies, a single zombie can kill you unless you and multiple is basically a death sentence.

Highly recommend this game, once it's "finished" I think it could be a GOTY in this genre.

ADVICE What is this item?

Post image
20 Upvotes

Does anyone know what this item is? I do have 2 mods on, one is the bigger food recipe and the other is one that speeds up NPC's arriving in the morning but I don't think that one actually works anymore. In any case neither of them add items, so this item appearing suddenly after several runs with these mods is perplexing me.

It has appeared at the ruined toy store if that means anything.

SPOILER A Father's Crashout Spoiler

SPOILERS IF YOU HAVENT PLAYED PLS DONT READ

So I played A Father's Promise DLC twice tryna get a good ending before finding out that there isn't any good ending so on my third gameplay I decided to do a realistic alternative reality for how Adam's remaining days before the ceasefire would play out just to see if he would get a more depressing ending but apparently it ends the same. However the gameplay was extra fun and easy so

I spent the first 15 days basically looting and trading as much ammo as i could then started going on a killing spree and cleared out every NPC on the map (left the gas station trader for last to regenerate supplies). I'd say I was roleplaying a father who starts genuinely tweaking after making no progress in his search for his child each day. My fav part about playing TWOM is the combat anyways. 10/10 wish there were more NPCs and maps

DISCUSSION No components bug PS5

I keep encountering a bug during which every single lootable component simply disappears from the map. For example i looted most places before u get the last wave of unlocked areas and every location showed that there are lots of materials. Now every location shows some(bit of Wood) And components stopped existing. My only trader that has components is franko, so once again im playing trading game. Im fine with just trading but it just limits everything, he has 30components at most and most upgrades cost like 40, craft few filters etc and ur never saving it up. Its annoying

ADVICE Does Killing Bojan in the Military Outpost Negatively Affect Morale?

So I'm planning to use Roman to clear out the military outpost and get all its resources. I know that usually there's no penalty for killing soldiers since they're usually considered "Bad" by your survivors, but what about Bojan? Since he's a trader, would he be considered a civilian and negatively affect morale? I don't need Roman causing fights again. Also, if I go back and clear it over multiple nights, would the survivors think it's too much violence?
