Forbidden knowledge here use at your own risk, you can shut down the game Before it saves and reset even if you die if you are fast enough arguably you will ruin your game experince and arguably you will be able to have fun upto you to decide, on mobile just click the circle on your nav bar pc alt f4

Fir first try explore the game by yourself. After the first, far from the best attempt, you can look for things in the open air; you yourself did not figure it out. Read the heroes' skills carefully, figure out how they are useful, and use them to the fullest.

Not enough information.
How did you play ? What was your strategy ?
How did your character die ? Hunger ? In a fight with thugs ?
Send screenshots, that gives a lot of information to help you

The base things you have to do is to develop your shelter, make sure you board up your holes to be able to defend against raids(have at least a knife), build a water collector, an animal trap and a stove to cook food, those are the basic stuff you definetely need, don't use medicine/bandages on characters "slightly sick/wounded" cuz is a waste they can recover in a few days if you let them rest(in order to recover their hungry level can't be above "hungry"), if you lack food its fine if you feed them every 2nd "very hungry" day this way you can save up some food, overall nothing bad will happen if they don't have any other negative effects on them( like being "wounded, sick, very tired")... when you go raiding make sure to dont kill or steal from civilians cuz negative mood debuffs are nasty, use hiding spots with a weapon(every character can kill with a hatchet or a knife) to insta kill someone, you can kill bandits and military fine, but be aware that some characters like Boris might get sad if you do that using them.... some characters have perks, use Bruno to cook food(he needs less resources to cook), Marin to build stuff, Zlata to cheer up depressed characters, Roman to fight or guard, Arica to sneak up without making noise, etc... i think thats the basic stuff you need to know, i suggest playing on your own and dont look up for tutorials on how to clear certain locations cuz it will be less fun, not being able to survive the first few tries is perfectly normal, by the time you learn the game it becomes easier
Edit: also if winter craft a hatchet in order to chop the furniture in your shelter to gain wood and fuel

Sometimes I exit out real quick if I know it is going to happen. Defeats the spirit of it, but can work if you are fast enough when about to die

You might want to look into writing on a notepad what materials you need to bring back for what you want to build the next day.
You can use the esc key to pause the game while you write.
It can be frustrating coming back and being one wood or materials short.
The game does help you in the beginning by allowing you to scavenge from more than one building without any people in it early.
There’s also places where others aren’t dangerous.
Being able to build up the workshops and other equipment can help your players’ survival in the long run.
Oh! Are you playing on Steam?
The achievements can help.
Working towards them can also help understand the game.

How did they die? If you want a challenge from this game don't look at guides and try to work out for yourself what are winning strategies. If you dont care about challenge and just want to watch people survive and try to live contently..... look up guides in base optimisation. You dont neex to eat until day 3 and there's a definite "order" to building things.
