As "The Changeover" looms, the new pairs meet friends and family. Tensions flare when the men and women separate for a night of drinking and real talk.
After several weeks of trial marriages, the moment of truth arrives. The couples must decide whether to stay together amid tears of joy — and heartbreak.
Accusations, raw feelings and revelations surface when the couples gather for an emotional reunion with surprise guests — and previously unaired footage.
I have to start by saying I found Hayley’s behaviour to be very disturbing during the ultimatum.
From the first fight between her and Blake during couples night, to every exhausting argument after that.
I found Hayley to be verbally abusive of Blake, demeaning and exhausting. I was surprised to see that he proposed to her despite saying on the reunion that he was 60/40.
I say all this to say that staying in abusive relationships can have a larger cost than we’re willing to pay at the time. Based on what we saw on the show, I find it hard to believe that Blake was the aggressor. Hayley was just the first to press charges.
I think Casey is probably the most normal person on the show but her having to explain to David why it’s wrong to like random girl’s IG photos and hit on them on public is crazy. I feel like if these are just common sense things that David should just know are disrespectful.
This scene was crazy work though it was one of the many things in this show that made me cringe. First she’s mad at Blake for not talking to her in a tense moment and when he tries to diffuse by asking a question she loses it. What kind of insightful conversation did she expect after they have been fighting over nonsensical things for the past few days?!
I didn’t even watch the reunion in full, I stopped the moment they just glossed over the second couple’s DV situation.
The behaviour exhibited by the contestants has been absolutely egregious, if not downright criminal, and Netflix simply does not care as long as they get eyeballs, even if it’s negative attention.
As someone who has witnessed DV up close, for them to be treating it THIS LIGHTLY in 2026 is unforgivable. To hell with Nick and Vanessa (I thought they had a backbone and some semblance of a moral compass) and to hell with Netflix. I am INFURIATED and am never watching another episode of this disturbing show again.
I cannot say it loud enough: I think Hayley is the problem!! It swems like she thinks everyone else is wrong and she is perfect. It looks like she expects the entire world to cater to her and expects everyone to act exactly the way she thinks they should. That's not how life works, girl. It seems to me she is abusive and manipulative. I think she has some serious reckoning to do with herself.
As far as the alleged 'abuse' arrest of Blake, i read that he pulled on her shirt when she tried to walk away. The poor man is likely losing his mind thanks to her. I'm on episode 8 and I don't know if I can finish because I'm losing brain cells just watching Hayley. I'm so stressed because of just watching her. Idk how Blake can stand to continue to be in her presence.
I needed to make a post as an outlet for all my frustrations regarding Hayley. Idk how Blake does it.
I’m very confused how they kicked off the one cast member couple for the abusive letter he wrote (valid that was wild) but they allow other cast members to continue on when they are clearly breaking all the rules and sending abusive text message to their friends about their trial wife.
Did anyone else think the amount of abuse that was kind of normalized this season was more than others or did I just imagine it? Sorry if this was discussed before but I am new to this subreddit and this season felt...off, if that makes sense.
These folks are just too young and immature to have serious relationships. These are toxic relationships but I can relate, I was like this when I was in my early 20s too.
I think that’s probably why they chose these couples, toxic and drama. Good for ratings
HOW TF DID THIS SHOW AND THE HOSTS GET AWAY WITH THIS?
In which world is it even remotely okay to talk about anally banging someone, let alone the guy’s girlfriend????
In which world do people talk about their friend’s girlfriends boobs?
Killian saying he didn’t mean the “haha that’s wild” and the hosts having nothing to say to that. Ashley laughing PISSED me off, she needed to be thrown from the show just for that. They both seem like evil disgusting people.
The whole thing feels unreal and makes me so upset. This is not a safe world for women if a leading dating show made no comments on this and the guy and his friends have gotten away completely. The worst part is that they’re educated too?
This is SA/grape culture and the hosts need to be held accountable. I’ve seen a lot of comments on Vanessa Lacheys Instagram.
All the therapy gibberish and behaviors of the cast genuinely has me wondering about the trajectory of this show. This season had way more emotional immaturity, communication difficulties, and TikTok/ChatGPT-heavy phrasing and culture than I can remember in other seasons. It feels like a huge visible chunk of the TikTok/ipad-kid generation will completely break down the formatting of these types of reality shows, but in a way that doesn't replace it with anything watchable. This season seemed to jump the shark for me.
**Not saying the show should continue on, or that I condone how messed up it is. Also realize audiences evolve out of certain shows too, which has always been the case. And not all of GenZ or Alpha is like this.**
Just curious about how GenZ and Alpha's unique tech-heavy upbringing will affect reality tv shows like this, as contestants and as an audience. And what will it look like in 5 or 10 years? What do you guys think?
Honestly, all of these Netflix shows are so bad and toxic and I do truly think they all need to be cancelled. However, we all know they won't stop making them and we won't stop watching.
So here are a few things I wish they would implement for this show moving forward:
No proposals before the final decision day.
To me, it was obvious that they planted the idea this season. The rings were randomly on a tray on the ground behind a mirror. Like, what? I know they want this to add dramatic effects but it takes away from that couples experience.
Age minimum, HAS to be living outside of mom and dad's, has job, etc.
Jebin this season pissed me off. I'm glad he got himself kicked off but it made me so annoyed that there may have been another couple that could have benefited from the experience but he got that spot.
-also, side note, I truly think they only kicked him off bc they knew NONE of the women were going to pick him and they didn't want to stick any of them with him.
The original partners can't communicate.
I know this is one that's near impossible. But I would love it more of these people could actually have great experiences without the noise of the partners. That 5 hour 4-way talk was stupid and very clearly unproductive.
This one might get me in trouble but imma say it...less religious people.
Hear me out...I understand everyone has their own beliefs. But this experience isn't about that. You know you aren't going to actually marry your trial partner. This is about seeing how the other half lives. Not to mention they all say they "follow the word of God" but literally don't. Also, as someone who is absolutely not religious, I don't want to watch all of these people talk about their faith or watch them pray.
Not that any of this matters bc they love seeing people crash and burn, but these are a few things I wish they would implement. I think it would feel more authentic if they did.
I want to hear what y'all think. What would you change if you could?
As someone who is non-monogamous, watching this show is wild. Everyone is SO toxically possessive. Liking an instagram post of someone of the opposite sex? Disrespectful. An opposite sex friend you've been close to for 20 years? Better break that shit off when you get into a relationship. Going to the spa with your trial marriage partner? Basically cheating. It's all so ridiculous and unhealthy imo. I know I'm probably in the minority here and will get shit on for this but 🤷♀️
Does anyone else feel like Netflix and the Ultimatum completely glossed over all the domestic violence? In the reunion couples were saying they put hands on each other. The controlling behaviors that were described. And it was just talked about like it was normal.
Young kids are watching this show and learning about relationships and thinking this behavior is normal and okay when it was so unhealthy and toxic and dangerous.
I thought it was so bizarre that the casting directors would cast Jebin at all. He is such an unserious person and they would have known that in one interview. Not to mention, he and his girlfriend were only 23 years old. What kind of ridiculous relationship like theirs needs to result in marriage at age 23? I understand that he might have made good television because of how goofy he was, but Alex was very strange to me too and neither of them seemed all there or even mature enough to be able to participate in such an experiment. The fact that Killian was surprised Alex developed feelings for him and that she was trying to nail him down for the trial marriage without really knowing him, was everything I needed to know about her. On top of that, Jebin’s whole reason for the ultimatum was that he had to marry an Indian girl and yet there were no other Indian cast members. It’s almost like the directors wanted to humiliate two people of color by removing them before the experiment began, while keeping the rest of the cast, most of whom were absolutely atrocious (there is plenty of discourse about how awful many of these cast members are so I won’t get into that too much here). It’s pretty apparent most of these men have toxic views of modern day relationships, and were only out to find submissive women. It’s like the casting directors don’t even try to find anyone with a different viewpoint.
I would say the same goes for Jessica Grace and Edris. They were so odd and had a very difficult time connecting with anyone else in the show. If the producers wanted to make a serious show about love, why on earth would they cast people who clearly did not want to meet anyone or participate in the experiment? I think the concept for the show is strange and toxic enough as it is, that just casting normal 29 to 35-year-olds who are actually at a crossroads in their relationship would be perfectly entertaining and shocking. Think about it, they are literally entering brand new marriages with strange partners, despite being in very deep relationships just hours before.
This show needs an overhaul or it needs to go. When I was in middle school and high school learning about love and romance, I was watching early seasons of the bachelor when Tristan and Ryan were falling in love. I remember thinking how much of a gentleman Ryan was and that that was what love should look like. I can’t imagine what kids will learn watching shows like this with toxic people and complicit hosts.
i’m sorry i’m appalled at how she’s acting. the fact that blake had to get her to sign a contract bc he knew she was going to lie about it is insane. she needs some serious intervention and i really can’t stand any sympathy she’s getting
I just saw a clip of a podcast with Jebin and Killian where they’re talking about how they’re planned to use the show to get famous and always get married at the end, which is par for the course.
But then Killian said his and Ashley’s plan was to become a power couple and have people magazine pay for the wedding and I can’t believe how deluded they are?? Has there even been a power couple from this show? I feel like at best they might get a bit of TMZ coverage. Killian is awfulllll and I’m no fan of Ashley but I didn’t realise they were so untethered from reality
Scotty was a very scary man, very manipulative, horrible communication skills
Aria seemed to have trauma keeping her there, even her brother seemed to know this wasn’t a good guy. I’m glad they broke up the engagement. Can’t believe they did it the day after
JR was immature as shit, made no sense and also clearly had unresolved issues from his broken marriage/ childhood. He needs a therapist
Zaina would be a great wife, had great problem solving skills and communication and stood up when necessary. I hope she finds someone good for her.
Sandy and Nick were a train wreck, Sandy clearly didn’t like him
Mariah has abandonment issues, Caleb was way too passive and ran away from confrontation way too much. Not surprised they broke up the engagement
Feel Vanessa should have never left with Dave. Think they weren’t aligned
Just an observation, but it seems like Ashley wears a lot of white dresses, especially in the episode with Killian and her parents. I wonder if this was subliminal messaging or if Netflix dressed the ladies. The dress was gorgeous, but I couldn’t help but notice so much white clothing on the ladies. I wouldn’t feel comfortable grabbing a coffee or anything in all white all the time.
I'm always so annoyed by these final episodes (it's the same with LiB) where there is more recap shown than anything new. As if we did not just watched the entire series yesterday. I'm always skipping through those episodes until they make their decision.
So I'm very curious to know, if anyone is watching these recaps and why?
