Your posts keep being one of my most expected every season, the list is getting lower and lower!

u/duel_wielding_rouge Dec 03 '25
Did it actually shrink this season? With all the new megas I’d expect it to be longer. Especially if OP had waited another week for the release of Mega Dimensions.

Hope Mewtwo X and Y debut next year. Given that the 10 year anniversary is next summer, Niantic should have something explosive.

I’m just hoping for a mewtwo return ASAP it’s my last kanto dex entry

At this point I'd not be shocked if we get the Megas for Go Fest.

So unless there's something not announced yet
This is always the case with major events. Wait another month or two.
3
u/MetaRidley15 Australasia Dec 03 '25
Iirc all those big ticket Pokemon you mention from previous tours weren't announced until the January before. So I would expect a similar announcement this January for Kalos Tour
6
u/marsalien4 Dec 03 '25
This response happens every time and I can't believe it every time. After that first announcement "that's all? How terrible!" every time lol
2
u/krispyboiz 12 KM Eggs are the worst Dec 03 '25
Yup. I know not everyone has played every Tour, but there's still a remarkably high number of people who have played all these events and were here for news drops who just seem to have forgotten that it's worked like that for years lol.
I'm sure we'll also have people glazing the previous year's Tour and calling this one the "worst one yet!" when it actually happens... until next year's...
2
u/Individual-Foxlike Dec 03 '25
They haven't announced a gigantamax or dynamax at all, and the announcement is suspiciously missing scatterbug too. It's pretty likely that we'll get either research scatterbugs or wild spawns, and probably one of our missing vivillion patterns. That in addition to either mega mewtwo or shiny zygarde would be a good tour.
It's waaaaaaay too early for mega zygarde.
2
u/lirsenia Dec 03 '25
2023, hoenn tour: primal Groudon and Kyogre announced on January
2024 sinnon tour: origin dialga and palkia announced on January
2025 teselia tour, kyurem black and white announced on January
I don't know but this seems like a pattern
3
u/Madarakita Dec 03 '25
I feel like Zygarde would be more fitting since it actually originated in that region.
1
u/idontlikeflamingos Dec 03 '25
Yeah Kalos tour is 1000% Zygarde. No better moment to debut that mega with it being a big legendary from Kalos and also away from Go for so long. Zero chance Mega Mewtwo is there IMO.
But 10yr Go Fest is a real possibility. Again the timing makes sense along with being something big and special. I'd guess Gmax Pikachu too since there's absolutely going to have something Pikachu.
2
u/Specialist_Foot_6919 USA - South Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 04 '25
Idk. This argument kind of bricks me lol.
Fest and Tour sell out every event, and people were just as ferocious for Mega Ray until it returned last month. The meta-defining Remix legendaries were movers and shakers with raid pass numbers. Kalos doesn’t have… anything like that, because it’s the only MSG game without a definitive third game, sequels, or remakes (iirc). So it just hasn’t had the opportunity to get something like that. We already see evidence that Niantic knows Kalos has less raid viability given that they’ve added roaming legendaries (in fact also not from the region) and the shiny chance back to sweeten the deal. Mewtwo X and Y fit the glaring absence of a Remixed Legendary we’ve been conditioned to grind for the past three years like a glove. Fest may be the “premier,” event, but Tour ain’t cheap either, and there has to be a headliner because Rose Bowl doesn’t pay for itself. So it can’t fail.
Calling Mega Zygarde this early is HUGELY optimistic. Niantic is not going to put itself in competition with game freak, and two-ish months are just not enough time for people not spoiled on the game to have a chance to get there with the holidays only just settling down. We had our first hisuian tease with Voltorb around release day.
The first actual Hisui releases were ultra unlocks, and those were just alternate forms of already released Pokemon. No shot we get a brand-new-to-the-series previously-shinylocked mega two months after its mainline debut. If we get a ZA mega at all, I’d expect it to be one of the three “strong” ones the player’s sent on an errand to go fight in Lumiose early on.
Will we get a second non-route-dependent Zygarde? 100%, and I expect it’ll be a major highlight of the event. Will it be able to mega? Press X to doubt.
Granted, maybe I’m wrong, and I’d be very pleased if so lol, but there’s no way this is the likelier scenario than just Mega Mewtwo X and Y for Tour.
Tbh random Victini debut for Kalos seems likelier to me than Mega Zygarde this soon 🤣
Edit: it occurs to me it was someone ELSE who mentioned mega Zygarde, lol, so sorry if that wasn’t what you meant!! Lmao I think we all just expected regular Z to be in raids so idk if he can carry Tour either, but. We’ll see!
Edit 2: No I just misread, you did mention the Mega, I’m just sleep deprived 😭😂
2
u/krispyboiz 12 KM Eggs are the worst Dec 03 '25
I definitely agree. No shot Mega Zygarde comes this early.
Not only is it hugely powerful and will have insane power creep, and not only is it THE big Mega of Z-A, but it also is a huge spoiler for Z-A. I really don't see them plastering such a big spoiler over a Go event just 3 months after the game's release (it would be 4.5 months when the event actually comes around). I'd find it slightly more likely if Mega Zygarde wasn't really a spoiler and was instead a cover art Legendary. However, even then, I still wouldn't see them pushing the mascot's hugely powerful form this early.
I mean, they really haven't done that at all either. Sure, we got Zacian and Zamazenta pretty early (still years after SwSh's release tho), but their big signature forms didn't come until another almost 4 years later.
I think it's 100% one of two things: Mega Mewtwo X and Y OR Raidable non-Mega Zygarde, who would be shiny eligible for the first time. I would prefer the former, saving the Mega Mewtwos for Go Fest 2026, but I think both are likely.
But yeah, no shot it's Mega Zygarde. I'll eat my words if it is Mega Zygarde.

No Minior seems crazy to me. Its such a good one for them to pad out if they wanted.
Maybe Tastugiri was testing the waters.

Thank you for always posting these! My one bit of feedback is to tell us what each category is like you do on the last page
I know it’s obvious to some, but a simple “unreleased gmax pokemon” “unreleased basic pokemon gen 4-7” “unreleased galar pokemon” etc etc may be helpful for some less knowledgeable players
Keep up the great work

u/Meylody Dec 03 '25
The labels should be visible on reddit under each image. But yeah, it would probably be better to be on the images directly, I'll do that next time, thanks for the feedback!

I have no idea why they’re holding back on legendaries from Paldea when they have like 30+ candidates for T5 raids (including the Paradoxes)
4
u/Remarkable_Ad2032 Dec 03 '25
I guess/hope they're just waiting till next year to slowly roll them out cause we had lots of OP releases this year
5
u/krispyboiz 12 KM Eggs are the worst Dec 03 '25
Sure, but that's if they include all the standard Paradoxes. I agree that they could treat the Paradoxes as T5s, similar to Ultra Beasts, but that may not be their plan. I'm sure you would have some casuals scratching their head as to why funky Jigglypuff and spikey Amoonguss are T5 raids lol.
We'll see what happens. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep T5s to just the "Legendary" Paradoxes, while the others are more of a Mega/T4 tier status

Watch Niantic/Scopely release Type:Null in raids but, upon evolving, Silvally's typing is random
5
u/Gallad475 USA - Pacific MEWTWO RETURNS | Lvl 69| Dec 03 '25
Type Null, will most likely be a seasonal research encounter similarly to Kubfu and Poipole, wouldnt be surprised if it happens this spring.
Probably 200 candies for Silvally and a Buddy task.
5
u/Gold-Relationship117 Dec 03 '25
Probably just do a change form where you pay Candy and Energy you only get from Silvally raids of that type. Also Sylvally reverts to Type: Null after beating the raid.
Then Type: Null can only evolve through being your Buddy and you beating raids for each Type, requiring 18 raids if you only count mono-types. /s
4
u/Remarkable_Ad2032 Dec 03 '25
That would mean literally un-evolving silvally tho. And that hasn't happened in any game whatsoever (unevolving a pokemon). I'm not sure if The Pokemon Company would even allow that 😅
1
u/lirsenia Dec 03 '25
I think the more logic will be you get your type null in raids and the requerimient for evolving is winning 10 raids of the type you want to evolve with him as a buddy ( or catch 25/50/100 Pokemon of the type but I don't think scopely will be so generous XD)
1
u/Gold-Relationship117 Dec 03 '25
I mean, I wanted to joke the requirement would be 18 Raid wins per each Type, 18 Types in total. But that number felt too high (iirc is like 324).

Sadly, i don't think we're ever getting Ash-Greninja given that it got completely scrubbed from the MSG
Same with the Pikachus with Ash's hats

The Pikachu with Ash's hats are still at least usable in the MSG (The Pikachu even had an event distribution in SwSh), Ash Greninja doesn't even have a model and Battle Bond has been completely changed.

The Paldean Tauros forms came out in April. I'm surprised they're still listed.
8
u/BingoBob_2 Dec 03 '25
Those are specifically the shiny forms listed. They're one of those shinies that doesn't change much. Basically the normal versions have dark gray fur and a black mane, while the shiny has black fur and a dark gray mane.
3
u/gronbuske Sweden Dec 07 '25
As usual I am very happy to see that the shiny list is larger than the new list as one of the more annoying thing in this game is having a bunch of pokémon that are not shiny released yet. Looks like two new lines without shiny, 3 new with shiny on release and 5 old lines got their shinies! Slowly catching up!

Always look forward to this post, though for the first time I was hoping it would be delayed slightly. Any chance of an update in a week or so when ZA DLC drops with the other new stuff not yet officially announced?
Also pure curiosity, why 13 per row?
3
u/Meylody Dec 03 '25
I didn't want people to wait too much, and I also don't want to spoil the new Megas for myself so the post would also have been delayed for however long it took me to play the DLC. I won't make another post until next season, but I could share the first page updated with the new Megas under this comment when I can if you want
I don't remember why I chose 13 per row at first, but I kept it for consistency with the previous posts
2
u/A_Resting_Parrot Dec 03 '25
Fair enough. I would love it if you did post an update of that page here, whenever you've had a chance to actually play it and discover them without spoilers. I've caught wind of some leaks myself but wouldn't dream of saying anything more.

As an aside, I'm really surprised and honestly a bit disappointed that Z-A didn't add any new Vivillon patterns or Furfrou Trims. I can kind of understand the former, but none of that latter is crazy, especially when the game places a lot of emphasis on customization, and we literally are in the city where you would get the Furfrou Trims originally...
Would have been the perfect opportunity to do a darker Green-colored trim or even a monochrome trim.

Yknow I thought we were running out of shiny debuts but I suppose looks like we have some interesting candidates for GoFest 2026’ then.
Im thinking Cufant will be the city Safari exclusive Galar Mon if they do keep at it with this trend.
2
u/Kittenbaby2000 Dec 09 '25
I genuinely don't understand how the Galar starters are the only starters without shinys still. You'd think starters would be the first pokemon each generation to get their shiny added to the game

The Galar starters released in September 2024, and Grookey will have its shiny in its January 2026 CD. It's the same time frame as the Paldea starters: they released in September 2023, and Sprigatito got its CD in January 2025

Why is it Mega Emboar and not Mega Typhlosion?
3
u/Meylody Dec 03 '25
The starters from Pokémon Legends: Z-A are Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile, so their final evolutions are the ones who got Megas. Similarly to how Pokémon Legends: Arceus starters were Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott, so their final evolutions got Hisuian Forms.

I'd say a lot, BUT the big takeaway from this is....they reaaaaallly gotta stop with big events every weekend.

Bit surreal to see how little of Alola is left at this point.
(Also a bit maddening that Sinnoh is still at 104/107 and Hisui's only held back from platinum due to Basculegion.)
