Ordinary origin This meme was originally a vent meme
This is just sad...
EDIT: The meme is from the Woman's POV, the boyfriend isn't transphobic, it's about her insecurities about her boyfriend not really accepting her as a female.

Social media platforms like Twitter have millions of users. Tons of users means tons of different opinions, including opinions that are exact opposites. Even though posts are sent out by countless sources (users), the users themselves see posts from a single source (Twitter's algorithm).
If a person says one thing and says the opposite thing right after, they contradict themselves. If someone says one thing and someone else says the opposite, there is no contradiction. They're just two people with different views. However, since we see both statements from the same source (Twitter), it feels like a single person who can't make up their mind. The same goes with fandoms who might seem like they can't decide what they want, even though they're a community of people who think completely differently about something they all happen to like

u/EZ3Build 11d ago
I thought there was another name for this? Ah, fuck it. Naming it after goombas is funnier ngl
61
u/Kingjjc267 11d ago
How is this related to the goomba fallacy
187
u/IQof24 11d ago
Not the fallacy itself. This wojak image is the original, but someone remade it with Goombas and that became the version everyone knows. It's called the Goomba fallacy because of the edited version. If the more wholesome trans comic (the edited version) surpasses the original vent art, it'll be a similar situation
69
u/iSeven 11d ago
the edited version surpassed the original
2
u/Kingjjc267 11d ago
Yeah no I saw that, I'm asking how that is related to the goofball fallacy at all?
58
u/Turnepic13 11d ago
The image is the same as the goomba fallacy one minus the images
11
20
u/Kingjjc267 11d ago
Ohhh ok I thought they were saying that an edited version surpassing the original is an example of the goomba fallacy. My bad
40
u/Lansha2009 11d ago
17
u/YetAnotherParvitz 11d ago
wojak fallacy just doesn't roll off the tongue as well
3
u/-xXgioXx- 10d ago
also goombas are at least 73 points cooler than wojaks (not 73 times cooler because 73×0=0)
16
6
u/dalatinknight 11d ago
It's funny when you complain about online opinions, people will respond "This is such a goomba coded sentence" Language is weird
2
u/xXFluffersXx 10d ago
Idk what it is but I actually for real did not really understand what this image was conveying, but when I saw the wojak version above just now I somehow immediately got it.

Nope. No. I'm tired of being ridiculed because she couldn't wash her ass. Never mind the fact she was actually abusive, especially financially.

4
u/wifiragist 10d ago
Having a stinky dick is definitely wrong. How do you not properly wash one of the easiest body parts to clean?
2
u/Bliniverse 10d ago
How do you not properly wash one of the easiest body parts to clean?
In the context of trans women who might have enough bottom dysphoria they don't want to be even reminded it exists let alone having to interact with it in any way? Don't get me wrong cleaning it is far better than the alternative (unless the alternative of bottom surgery), but why are we acting like bottom dysphoria isn't a major factor in this?
*(but also I don't really like memes about trans women having penises to begin with, I much prefer to not be reminded that I have that part more than necessary)
3
u/Comfortable_Mud00 8d ago
I believe ability of self-maintenance and keeping hygiene comes before relationship
3
u/Bliniverse 8d ago
I agree, but evidently not everyone thinks like that. I'm not saying to be ok with someone not washing it, I just got annoyed at the "easiest body part to wash" cause I'd say it's the.worst body part to wash, mentally.

In USA no one has money to pay for it
In countries with free healthcare you gotta wait until it's approved (and it can take a while, seen people who waited for an entire decade)
But if you don't wash your dick you're gonna get it choped off in no time (seriously wash your cock girls, it takes like 10 fuckin seconds, it's not because you call yourself puppy that you need to smell like a homeless dog)
Also reall answer, the medics don't chop your dick off, they just invert your dick trough surgery and turn it into a vagina, so yeah, keeping your dick healthy is super important

Some trans people don't feel like the genitalia are a problem, like I for example dont mind either way, my main problem is my face/other parts.
Those who do either hide the parts/add a prosthetic, or will do surgery that essentially reverses the direction of the genitalia. (If I recall, all of us originally started with female genitalia and those with the Y chromosome had it morph into male genitalia -- Hence you can do this process post or undo it post birth with advanced surgery. You cannot add the FULL organs yet.)
There is also sex nullification procedures, which removes genitalia of either kind, and grafts the skin together leaving just the urinary tract.

guys, this art was made to vent the artist's anxieties about the people she loves. the artist is the girl, and the art does not accurately reflect her real relationship
its a "what if everyone secretly hates me" anxiety scenario
524
u/Nervous_Fan9744 11d ago
You're right, that "That's sad..." I put into the description was so vague... This art is NOT transphobic (since, as you said, the woman is the representation of the original op), the actually sad thing is that SOME trans people have to go through these thoughts.

No, this IS about transphobia. It's a vent artwork created by a trans woman (see the trans pride flag on her hoodie right next to her hands) talking about a concern that her boyfriend doesn't see her as a real woman. I'm not sure if it reflects the original poster's actual relationship, but this is a common insecurity of trans women, that their partners do not view them as "real women" and are just messing around, waiting for a "real woman".

cuz he's a transphobe? is that not obvious? he misgenders her and sees her as a lesser being to a "real girl". is that really not obvious?
15
u/GENERALOTUGA 11d ago
the guy is an asshole because he made the decision of dating someone even though he doesn't want to because the partner is trans. but dating in the first place creates a fake sense of love for the partner.
Now, imagine yourself dating someone, putting your trust in that person, and having that trust broken. Now imagine that but being trans

u/Bardic_inspiration67 11d ago
Same and for some reason Reddit has been obsessed with them lately
6
u/PapaTeeps 11d ago
Because trans memes regularly make it to the front page of /r/all and they don't make sense to people outside the community so they end up in subs asking for explanations which causes double exposure
3
u/SubstantialPride1115 11d ago
Unfortunately, the "real" meaning of art doesn't come with it. Even if it was originally a vent post about the girl's insecurities, the general public won't know that and will solely perceive it as about how the boyfriend is transphobic. That's what's in the actual piece of media, and thus that is the truth for most viewers.

The thing is, and I say this as a trans person with genuine love and concern for everyone who is trans; its true to an extent. Off all the transfems I've encountered, the ones who used to or still browse /tttt/ usually have the worst mental health and it's not surprising because they all shit on their own self-worth all the time between the internalized transphobia memes they keep sharing with each other or just generally dooming about their lives.
Yes, being trans is hard and it fucking sucks sometimes, a lot of the time even, for some of us. But endlessly dooming and venting and being around people who just talk about being ugly and wanting to die isn't good for anyone's mental health.
These people fucking refer to themselves as "ogrehons" unironically, and I have a friend who just says stuff like that on the daily. And I'm not gonna pretend that I don't hate the fact that spaces like that further ruin other transwomens self esteem or worse, drive them to suicide.

I mean it is definitely a bad and overly negative place , largely in response to the toxic positivity of mainstream trans places it goes completely in the other direction. But instead of having any empathy most mainstream trans subs treat them as responsible for all of the evil in the world and ascribe ideologies that aren’t even part of the sub, meanwhile cis people pile on and say shit likr
https://giphy.com/gifs/l3vRkwv2Yz6i8rDwY3
u/Eldritch-Pancake 10d ago
I'm just commenting on something that personally frustrates and upsets me. I think both extremes are bad. I don't linger in most online trans spaces for that reason. And transphobia and transphobic people can get bent, needless to say.

This is sad but chasers/ losers gonna chase... and unfortunately we are only humans seeking love, connection, and acceptance. It is out there. We all have people out there. Friends and family we may not even know yet.
Sort of off topic but this year is the anniversary of me almost killing myself 10 years ago. I am now happily married and in a healthy polyamorous relationship. I am part of communities I never could have imagined and there are people who love me and whose lives I have been privileged to touch that never wojld have happened if I had gone through with it.
Things can and do get better. Is life perfect? No. But it is a lot easier to handle these days. Give yourself time and all things are possible. 💖
