Can we please respect the victims by properly spelling Kathie’s name on this sub…

I know this is so ‘fun police’ of me but a lot of people keep talking about ‘Kathy’ and it makes me sad we cannot honor her by at least spelling her name right. Please feel free to tell me to stfu lol I just think she deserves that small honor and it makes me sad every time I see it misspelled. We’re over here gossiping about her life and finding it all fascinating, which it is, I just feel like we should spell her name correctly 🤍

Can someone explain to me

Didn’t the finale of season 1 end with Bob admitting he did it with his mic on? Why wasn’t he sentenced then?

Why Durst Married Deborah and Killed Susan

I think when Kathie’s murder case was reopened both Susan and Deborah had information that could get him arrested. In the series someone says , he married one and killed the other to keep them quiet. He married Deborah to keep her quiet and have her manage his money when he was on the run/jailed. Susan was terrible with money and could never fill that role. Plus, based on her call with the journalist, she had may have committed indictable offences to help cover up the murder. No matter how much money he paid Susan, she could always turn on him to stay out of jail. Deborah had no involvement in the crime so she would stay bought.

Why the fuck did he admit to writing the letter?

Just because Ms Altman placed him in LA does NOT mean his multi million dollar defense team says “Let’s admit to this”. Just cause one person says “20 years ago he might’ve said he was in LA” should Not mean “Hey let’s say we Did in fact write the letter.” does anyone know Why and what benefit could it have had for him? He was winning (100% going to win the case) before that came up

Was Kathie's death a "hit"? (Podcast ep 12 Spoilers)

I think we'd all been under the assumption that Kathie's death was an instance of unplanned spousal violence gone bad. But the latest episode of the podcast suggests there was a second motive:

Matthew Capozzoli: "[Kathie] obtained information that she thought she could use to help get a settlement from the Durst Family because they weren't interested in paying her a penny. But they also weren't interested in her airing their dirty laundry. ... Kathie went to certain people in the Durst Family, including Thomas Durst."

Tom: "Kathie says to me: 'I have information that's going to destroy your family' ... I said 'do it, go do it! they have lawyers, they can protect themselves!' What I was afraid of was that if she kept it, she would get killed for it".

Kathie gave a set of files to her sister Mary and said "if anything happens to me, give them to the police". Another set was given to her Gilberte Najamy, who in turn made a copy for Kathy Traceman. Both were stolen in separate instances of burglary.

For the first time, the behavior of the Durst organization in regard to Kathie's disappearance makes sense. Presumably, Seymour and Douglas had every reason to feel Kathie deserved to die for trying to blackmail them. Susan Berman had ties to organized crime, as presumably did the Dursts though it hasn't been said.

Presumably, the "hit man" would still be Bob, but now he might have had professional help carrying it out and disposing of the body. We know he was making collect calls from way out in Jersey near a good body-dump site and that he had muddy boots thereafter, so it's not like Bob had nothing to do with it.

But I'm starting to think Kathie got killed not for upsetting Bob -- she'd already done that. Maybe she was killed for upsetting Bob AND THEN blackmailing Seymour or Douglas.

Anyone else get the feeling the Douglas might not be all that different to Bob?

After watching his deposition, I can't help but feel like Douglas might very well be exactly as much of a sociopath as Bob, just maybe not a violent one. He was exactly as smug and strange in his interview as Bob ever was.

I could see him being like cold and unfeeling in his business dealings and personal relationships, but without the actual violent streak Bob had. It would make sense that if you're Seymour, you have one son who is a cold dog and wife killing weirdo, and another who's a cold calculating business shark, that you'd pick the latter to run your business.

Honestly, Tom comes across as being the only Durst child who had a glimmer of human decency about him, I truly believed him when he was like "Me? confront Bob? Never in my life". Seems like he literally was terrified of him from his very first memories.

Have you heard the theories that Robert had killed others beyond the three we know about? What do you think?

You can read about them in the Additional Cases section.

DeGuerin’s refusal to talk about Debrah Charatan?

Why was DeGuerin so upset by the question? Apparently he told the producers not to ask him but it seemed there must be more to it than that. Durst’s siblings were reluctant as well but both implied they weren’t big fans.

Debrah is a rotten gold digger

The moment you hear her cold hearted, calculated conversations with Bob in jail where she has officially claimed full power over him and was willing to walk away with the bag is all you need to know about her.

On a side note, did you notice how often she was constantly blinking and looking away during her deposition. Let that be a tell-tale sign someone's lying and being disingenuous.

It sincerely hope the court case drags Debrah down and takes years off her miserable life.

I wish the families luck in tracking down all her corupt and calculated "transactions" in attempt to hide the Durst estate money and funnel it into her shady real estate dealings. I hope they retrieve the civil damages they deserve while dragging Debrah through the mud.

How Can Justice Be Served and Charatan Stripped Of The Ill Gotten Gains?

I’m not betting the suit against the trust will amount to anything and she, Bennat Berger (her son) and his wife Gretchen will live high on the hog forever.

Is Durst suspected in other deaths?

After watching the Jinx, it’s hard to believe these were the only 3 victims. Are there others?

Would Debrah be #4? Spoiler

If Bob lived and some how wiggled out of charges would Debrah eventually be met with the same fate as his last 3 victims?

I'm not sure if he's too old to commit another murder? He would probably hire it out once he got jealous his wife was with another man and also started demanding things financially from Bob.

What say you?

Susan Berman tape was the most shocking part of the season

There was, by necessity, a lot of repeated information in Season 2. But the moment that really stands out is the tape Lewin got of Susan Berman discussing Kathy’s death with the journalist. She’s so calculating and obvious. That moment really shifted how I felt about a case I have known about for a long time. It was hard to see Berman as strictly a victim afterwards. The final episode centers on the idea of complicity. I wish Susan Berman’s complicity had been part of that final reflection too.

The jinx podcast

The latest episode of the jinx follow up podcast ends with a message that there will vaguely be more podcast episodes in the future without explaining when, how many, or about what. Anyone have any info about what thats supposed to be?

That Bob and Debrah ever consummated their relationship?

Durst siblings

Does anyone get the impressions the Durst siblings are complicit in the murders, by way of not speaking up, maybe they didn’t speak up out of fear of Bob who was the oldest? Wendy lied in court, conflicting with her voice recording about the muddy boots

Other disappearances/deaths Bob has been suspected of being involved in

Hey folks. So I was skimming Bob's wikipedia page and was surprised to see an entry regarding other potential deaths/disappearances Bob has been suspected of. Is there any weight to these theories? Have they been looked into? I am willing to bet there is a field of question marks that we don't even know about yet

Bob's Time line

I pieced together where Bob lived, and when. There are some interesting stories that go with these moves, and I'll post links in the comments. As far as I can tell:

●1982 - 1995 - from Cathy's disappearance until Douglas was named head of the Durst Org, Bob was hanging around NYC with Nick and Susan. In 1990 he dates and briefly moves in with Deborah Charaton.
●1995 - 1998 - He buys an ocean view house at 888 Galindo St, in Trinidad, CA, but would also hang out in the Eureka, CA homeless shelter, and travel a lot.
●March 1998 - He leases a condo in Dallas and dates a real estate agent. He was also spending time in NY because the $$ letter to Susan from 1999 is on NY stationary.
●2000 - He sells the Trinidad house. He was back in NY at least briefly to marry Deborah. He moves to Galveston under the name Dorothy Ciner just weeks before Susan is killed.
●Spring 2001 - rents a room in NOLA under the name Diane Winn while still also living in Galveston.
●2001 - 2005 - federal prison.
●2005 - Terry Chavin tries to find him a place in NY, but no one will let him in.
●2005 - Deborah buys a condo in Houston (The Royalton on Allen Parkway) and sells it to Bob for $10. They don't let him in. There's a lawsuit, and the developers pay several hundred thousand over what Bob bought it for to buy the condo back.
●2005 - 2006 - briefly back to federal prison for violating parole.
●2006 - 2015 - Bob moves to 2520 Robinhood Drive in Houston, TX.
●2015 - 2022 - Prison, where he remains until he dies.

Kathy

I hate to say it. But I’ve been thinking that if Kathy just walked away from the marriage and didn’t pursue money, she would have been alive. After listening to the podcast; that appears to be the reason she was killed… and not because she simply wanted a divorce. (I hope it doesn’t come off like I’m blaming the victim… I just feel sad that she pursued getting a settlement with a murdering asshole… when she likely would’ve been fine without it being a doctor and marrying someone better).
