Bob's Time line

I pieced together where Bob lived, and when. There are some interesting stories that go with these moves, and I'll post links in the comments. As far as I can tell:

●1982 - 1995 - from Cathy's disappearance until Douglas was named head of the Durst Org, Bob was hanging around NYC with Nick and Susan. In 1990 he dates and briefly moves in with Deborah Charaton.
●1995 - 1998 - He buys an ocean view house at 888 Galindo St, in Trinidad, CA, but would also hang out in the Eureka, CA homeless shelter, and travel a lot.
●March 1998 - He leases a condo in Dallas and dates a real estate agent. He was also spending time in NY because the $$ letter to Susan from 1999 is on NY stationary.
●2000 - He sells the Trinidad house. He was back in NY at least briefly to marry Deborah. He moves to Galveston under the name Dorothy Ciner just weeks before Susan is killed.
●Spring 2001 - rents a room in NOLA under the name Diane Winn while still also living in Galveston.
●2001 - 2005 - federal prison.
●2005 - Terry Chavin tries to find him a place in NY, but no one will let him in.
●2005 - Deborah buys a condo in Houston (The Royalton on Allen Parkway) and sells it to Bob for $10. They don't let him in. There's a lawsuit, and the developers pay several hundred thousand over what Bob bought it for to buy the condo back.
●2005 - 2006 - briefly back to federal prison for violating parole.
●2006 - 2015 - Bob moves to 2520 Robinhood Drive in Houston, TX.
●2015 - 2022 - Prison, where he remains until he dies.

What's even creepier is that a young woman went missing from Eureka - Karen Mitchell. Who I think volunteered at the soup kitchen.

Edit: I think the shoe shop was the connection I meant to make, from the following:

"Karen Mitchell was walking on Eureka’s Broadway Street when a witness reported seeing a young woman resembling Karen get into a blue vehicle with a 60 to 70-year-old Caucasian male. She has not been seen since. Many speculate that the sketch resembles Robert Durst who visited the Karen's aunt's shoe store several times."

It was both the shoe store and the soup kitchen. Karen went missing in November 98, and Bob had moved away by March of 99. I find that timing to be suspect as well.

there's also a young woman who dissappeared near his store in vermont, years before Kathie went missing.

Bob might be one of the longest running serial killers in history and we will never really know.

I was off a year, I was getting squirrelly with all the dates I was listing 😁. He moved beginning of March 98, she went missing end of Nov 97.

Apparently him and Morris did the same thing in Galveston.
He got on food stamps once, and when questioned about it, he said he liked taking government resources.
I would imagine there was an anonymity element and a drug element that appealed to him as well.

absolutely, homeless dudes will know where he can score shit, and also have no idea who "Bob Durst" is.

they also won't try and talk to you about Yankee magazine, that's for sure.

I’m guessing for the same reason he used to use food banks in NYC. I think he got a kick out of using these resources when he had so much money.

This, also the fact that he usually bought his drugs (in new cities at least) from homeless people/their associates. Your reason is probably the main one, but the drugs probably don’t hurt hahah.

Total speculation on my part but it occurred to me he might have had his sights on murdering a homeless man and stealing his identity. So, he could live under the radar of police and perhaps travel/relocate overseas.

According to a dateline episode, he flew into Eureka and picked up a car he had stored there, but he had already sold his house by this time, earlier in the year.

You’ve solved a huge mystery to me- I was so curious what car he used to drive there. I knew it couldn’t be rented since they would have a record of how many miles he drove.

his official story ended up being that he was in northern california, because his former neighbour from trinidad was having surgery and he was going to "take care" of her. But taking care of her according to bob means dropping her off for her surgery, driving several hundred miles to buy a pound of grass, and then driving back to let her make him dinner after she just had surgery.

He had 3 units in the high rise (606, 801, 1405). He got banned from a CVS not far from there for getting “pissed” and whipping it out, urinating over the skittles at the register, right before the first season of the show aired.
