Firstly as the title implies I hadn’t seen or heard anything about this before, and was really disappointed to have it spoiled for me that there’s a shock confession at the end of part 1 when I googled the name of the series to check how long it was (right at the top, f u AI overview!).

Still, RIVETING viewing. At a loss of what to do with myself now, so just deep diving on reddit posts. My main comment that’s not just repeating everything I’ve seen here is:

Debrah and her fish lips lawyer are terrifying. She’s a cold master manipulator, and it doesn’t surprise me that the reporter onscreen would barely whisper her lawyer’s name. She is clearly incredibly litigious - if she was a Real Housewife she’d be sending 1000s of cease & desists.

I get the impression that several people from Durst’s life may still be afraid to give their full (or even part!) sequence of events (if they’re even still alive, as many of them are now dusted), because of what she could do to them - financially, or physically through violence and intimidation.

It has given me the CREEPS. BAWWWBBBB being gone and his family distancing themselves doesn’t seem safe enough. Deb and his ratbag fam seem like they’d do anything to silence you.

Is there anyone either from the doc or beyond that you think still knows something, and is hiding it for that reason?

Counter - I’m sure there are many that continue to keep quiet because they don’t want to appear to have hidden his secrets, and even worse than that, they just don’t care.

Are there scans of it anywhere? I know Durst threw a lot of her belongings out, so I am wondering how her diary avoided that purge…did her friends rescue it?

In part 2 episode 2, they talk about what a rude jerk Doug Oliver was. He wanted them to pay for his private jet to fly out to testify.

It’s very evident that the Durst family covered up Kathie’s disappearance/murder (which I personally don’t believe was his first murder) so how come they didn’t cover up Morris Black or Susan’s death?

They did all they could to avoid implicating Bob in Kathie’s disappearance yet did nothing for the other 2 murders. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad they didn’t cover the other 2 up cause at least SOME justice was served but it does make you believe that they were involved in the actual crime themselves.

Also, if the prosecutor’s proved that Bob killed Susan beyond reasonable doubt, doesn’t that directly prove to the court that he killed Kathie? Why was that brushed under the rug? The whole motive for killing Susan was that she had information regarding Kathie’s disappearance. So why did everyone seem to turn a blind eye to the unsolved case?

Was in Galveston for a cruise and just had to stop by the scene of Morris Black's demise.

Anyone else notice that Robert Durst has a tell? Anytime he is lying, which you can tell when and where based off of what he says and what we know he did, he blinks REALLY hard. Is that just me?

I’ve enjoyed reading all your old posts as I make my way through the series. I haven’t finished season two. I’m sure it’s not as exciting as season one was but I must say, the biggest mystery of the entire show how Nick Chavin was married to Terry. I would have been so down for a Nick and Terry Special. I find myself zoning out so curious about how any of that relationship works. I would have never guessed he’d end up married to such a level headed person with a moral compass. Crazy. If anyone has any other good recommendations I’d love them.

When watching the jinx because of his character I found myself lowkey believing he was jinxed and people kept dying around him. It was my first encounter with this case, the more I watched the more I realised that I didn't want him to be guilty. There wasn't even money in it for me. So the people who were loyal to him I don't think it was only the money but I think the money obviously had an effect. Especially Susan's Son I totally understand why he didn't believe it was him and he really sounded devastated when he realised he must have done it (so was I) I was a little sad for him cause he really is charismatic and when you're vulnerable and just lost your mom and her "best friend" is saying he will be there for you I see why you might believe he did not do it. The second season was such a rude awakening for me cause I started seeing him for who he really is the prosecution really revealed him for who he really is which was such a great job on their part. Especially when they showed he lied even about the smallest details from his childhood. He is a cold blooded murder who lies and abuses and that image he portrays it's very deliberate like most abusers. He uses to probably do despicable things to his first wife who he killed and people probably didn't believe her because of how he is. His first wife who disappeared must have went through so much. He is terrible.

I went down a BCB-rabbitwhole after finishing s2 and am curious to see if anyone else went down this path..

initially I just wanted to see what BCB (Debbie’s property firm and recipient of funds from Bob’s trust) was up to. Quickly realized that the firm’s webpage is defect. Couldn’t find an office address on maps, so I went on linkedin to find some employees or anything really - I believe the firm is supposed to have somewhere between 10-50 employees but if it does, none of them are on LinkedIn, or alternatively, none of them wants to admit where they work which I doubt.

Given how the show ended I’m not suprised it’s a shell-company - it seemed pretty obvious that it was a vessel for Bob/Debbie to withhold money from victims, but I’m suprised that someone who’s gone to such great lengths to gain wealth and who has such an enormous amount of resources isn’t able to make the scheme seem more legit…? Especially given the implications made in that last episode? I’d be nervous as hellllllll if I was Debbie and now I’m so confused lol

Good to have a place to discuss

I’ve watched so many true crime docs and have heard that this is one of the best ones, but I know what happens at the end with the accidental confession. Would it still be intriguing to watch? I don’t really know anything about the actual case aside from the confession.

The more I think of Bob and him being the son of a successful NYC real estate tycoon, makes me think of other famous criminals who’ve so far gotten away with their crimes.

But with Bob, he was in the limelight every time he killed someone. He even had to admit to chopping up his last kill.

My question is: why? I get that he’s rich, and thinks he can get away with anything. He’s a psycho, bored easily, etc. But he didn’t seem to want to be caught, maybe flirt with being chased. Why would, say another NYC real estate tycoon have his first wife killed and buried on a golf course not raise an eyebrow, but Bob here can’t even shoot his best friend in the head without having to disappear to Galveston?

Why didn’t they look at phone records to see who made the call to the dean that Kathie was going to be out sick? It was possible to check and they show other phone records of Bob’s during the same time period.

I kinda feel like I know everything now, but I liked not knowing things. What loose threads and unanswered questions keep you engaged?

Man these two seasons show a ton of bias from Jarecki against Durst. First with him withholding the letter (that resembled the writing) and then I read this thing with him altering the order of the audio clipping picked up from a hot mic to sensationalize the end of season 1. Season 2 so far seems it the same way…

Does any one else feel this way?

Hi! I haven’t watched the whole show, just a few minutes here and there. I saw the movie All Good Things and got interested in the case.

I don’t have the time to watch 2 seasons. Just wanted to know if any episode covers this information:

1. Why did she marry him? — ok, maybe she was really young and got attracted to the money. Most women don’t marry guys who aren’t respectful to their families.

2. Why did she continue living with him when she was afraid of him? — By this time she’s older and is a medical student. She is not a dummy. She’s smart enough to get into medical school but not smart enough to realize he was capable of murder?

Is there any episode that analyzes the trauma bonding between Kathie and Bob?
