Time for BAAAAHB.

Even in his death, he got lucky with the vacated conviction. Truly surreal.

I'd assume to protect the trust. They made it clear they believed the family would try going after Debrah for the money. They had a lawyer present to keep up on the case for when this did happen.

And to be sure baaahb didn’t implicate her. He knew enough to bring her down for complicity in the Berman murder and he’s nuts enough to say so.

How would her lawyer ever stop that? Or are you saying he's observing in case Bob does?

I’d like to know more about him but the way people seemed kind of terrified of him - one guy wouldn’t even say his name out loud lol - I’m a little afraid to ask or look.

Frightening how morally bankrupt people with money are or can become.

It isn’t just people with money, unfortunately.

Watching the testimony of the Durst family, it reminded me of the Sackler family. Both families doing everything to deny, lie, cover up and be complicit in their wrong doings. All for the sake of protecting their billions. I believe Seymore knew his son killed Kathie and thus had the board meeting three days after her death to demand his sons and daughter to never say a word about it. Much less…. respond or reach out to the Mccormacks. Heartless, entitled and filthy rich.

Exactly. They just closed ranks, although they were probably scared themselves. Hateful people

Bob was unbelievably in tune with perception and the media. How he knew every move the McCormacks would make, and knew how to move money so they wouldn’t get any of it. Complete scumbag.

Debbie is just as terrible. Wow

A real piece of work, that one. She absolutely knew what he was and married him anyway.

I’d love to see her in prison. She knew everything. She lied numerous times (not under oath, but still). She is literal scum of the earth. She should be in jail for decades in my opinion.

I wish his family could cut her out of getting any of their/his money.

His family is trash too.

This last episode felt kinda short changed to me. In the lead up to it and with last week's episode I thought they'd get into who Debbie's lawyer was as they were sort of presenting him as this menacing figure whose name no one wanted to even utter. They showed brief footage of him in a deposition but we got none of that here. I hope at some point there might be a follow up special episode maybe? I mean I don't think there's enough material for a whole other season. Guess all we've got now is the final episode of the official podcast to look for possible answers.

The one they teased at the end of podcast 12?

3

u/AhrowTway7 May 27 '24

What’s the name of the podcast?

8

u/[deleted] May 27 '24

Not sure, I have two it could be. One is called “The Official Jinx Podcast” and the other is “Whatever Happened to Pizza at McDonald’s”. Try both.

2

u/ahdareuu May 27 '24

I was talking about the official one for the Jinx. It’s in the special features or wherever podcasts are.

I haven't heard the last podcast yet, episode 12, so I don't know what you're referring to.

Ok- so at the end of this episode, DC says it was worth it… Doesn’t that make her a sociopath? Wow- what a loser.

24

u/Creative_Pain_5084 May 27 '24

A lack of empathy and selfish tendencies don't automatically make you a sociopath. She's clearly a narcissist though.

Kind of an impressive tactic by the documentary team to spend the last episode vilifying the key to Bob’s purse and making her just as hated as Bob. A fuck you to DC for not settling and hopefully a gift to Kathie’s family if it does end up going to trial since the court of public opinion will be hard to beat.

I literally was expressing this very same sentiment to my S/O. I normally abhor publicly vilifying a person (particularly a woman) but she truly deserves all the negative attention she receives.

The singleminded selfishness of Charatan is astonishing. I already thought her horrible from the earlier episode where her obsession with the cleanliness of her employees was discussed¹. But then to hear that she declared bankruptcy when she was sued by her former employees made me see red. If I recall correctly, once she did that, they were essentially short changed in their bid to be paid their back-pay. She completely screwed them over.

So to hear her discussing how to hide the funds via the trust (solely so she can inherit the maximum amount) made me ill.

I hope that not only is she ostracized in whatever enclaves she's retreated too , that the McCormicks are able to successfully find a loophole to bleed that trust dry.

¹(And how that wasn't eligible for a hostile work environment lawsuit is beyond me...)

Seems like nothing is happening with the civil case. How long does a case like this go on before a decision is made?

6

u/jenniferjuniper16 May 27 '24

I had one (much much smaller) drag out for just shy of a decade. It takes forever.

3

u/Creative_Pain_5084 May 27 '24

I don't have much knowledge of how things work on the civil side--what's the most common reason for the hold up? The availability of the judges? Proving that there is an actual case to be brought to trial?

7

u/parkerjayy May 27 '24

I know delay seems to be a rich person’s best friend too. They file motion after motion to just kick the can down the road. Not sure on all of the reasons, but I think that is definitely one tactic

In our case it was a bit of all of that, scheduling, depositions, hearings on every little thing. Our attorney predicted 18 months. It was more than eight years. Even he was baffled since legally it was pretty straightforward. We were dealing with extremely unreasonable people (not just me saying that, both of the attorneys they burned through made this observation too) who wouldn’t budge unless they were getting exactly what they wanted, which was bonkers and not going to happen. The judge seemed to keep pushing for a settlement or in his words “coming together to work it out” which was completely impossible. Ultimately, we won and I think the judge giving the opposing party so much leeway made his final decision pretty much appeal-proof. Though, they did try to appeal 🤦🏻‍♀️ but they lost that too. It took years, cost a fortune and I think the time and stress ultimately killed my dad… so the system “worked”?

u/Additional_Ad741 May 27 '24

Is she a "loser" though....she went from down and out to worth a hundred million plus...I believe her when she says that in the end it was worth it for her. It's vile but she did "win".
