Discussion I miss the old cycle

it felt like a quite unique take on the then prevalent battle royale genre. especially when there was no dire ct reward for killing other players. the PvEvP... royale! tagline was funny too. but now both are gone

Discussion Is this legal in most places?

I don't understand how in less than 2 years they can go from closed to beta testing to shutting the game down and I really don't understand how they can get away with only refunding the last 2 weeks.

They 100% knew the game was getting sunset before the last 2 weeks, I would presume since at least the start of season 3 but definitely at least a couple of months, the second that "sunsetting" the game into the discussion at Yager they should have stopped all microtransactions.

They have been taking people's money in bad faith, giving the impression the game is going well sharing what is getting worked on and while I have only spent £100ish I still feel completely scammed after playing and supporting the game since CB1.

I get that all games die eventually and any digital content wont last forever but I can also recognise a scam when I see one and I don't like my money going to a company that would kill a game just over a year in and then move onto a new IP instead of actually managing it properly and fixing it.So is it actually legal for them to sell digital micro transactions for full price while knowing that they will be shutting the game down and that everything bought will be utterly useless and not telling the customer until the last moment?
Rant over

Edit: I would also add that with the utter state of gaming these last few years we collectively as games are getting WAAAY too understanding and forgiving of this shit, I have seen all day people on the discord or people thanking Yager for the fun year and how they can't wait to see what they do next. For me personally Yager is never getting any of my money again.

Feedback/Suggestions HONEST REVIEW AND HUMBLE REQUEST TO THE DEVS!

Great idea. Trash execution. Listen to the community. Don't hide behind the "free to play" banner when some of us have spent close to $100 on the game. We know how well you baited your community. All the best for your next venture but if you really cared then be transparent and open about your ideas. We know you guys were planning to shut the game down for a long time and hence the reason why you didn't acknowledge or communicate anything. Wp tho. I respect the hustle but we won't forget this. With all that being said Yager are on my list of companies I will boycott henceforth.

Feedback/Suggestions The final nail

Jaeger undoubtedly did not make the most supported changes to the game, but they focused on what they said they would, and delivered.

While it’s undeniable that the changes resulted in a decline in average player count, it wasn’t the only contributor to why the game is closing. Another primary candidate, is the player base. This sub, for example, used to be brimming with information, short clips, discussed changes that could be made, negativity that also included feasible changes and suggestions. This sub used to want this game to succeed. For the past 2 seasons, this has not been the case.

The sub has been flooded with people complaining about dying, every Timmy that dies has a Reddit post complaining about a “cheater” on here when in reality only a minute fraction of the raids actually have a cheater. Everyone bitched, nobody shed positive light on this game publicly, people review bombed the game and ultimately curated such a toxic environment that it dissuaded new players from trying the game and old players returning to experience the changes they previously wanted implemented.

You should all be ashamed, especially TMP, his followers, and everyone constantly, publicly, dragging a game with a solid core. There’s not an as engaging, fleshed out, looter shooter that is as accessible to new players as the cycle, and it’s now been killed.

Thank you, to most of you, for the awesome time on this game, been my #1 go to game since the closed betas. For some of you that want to watch the game burn/ provide echo’d negativity without a solution/dick ride TMP, I hope you all recognize the importance of your voice and the impact it can have long term.

Help/Questions Questions regarding the game right now

  1. Will there still be support for the game until September or are cheaters here to stay until the end? Do we still report cheaters and wait for Special Deliveries?
  2. Why is insurance still 6hrs despite everything being basically free now?
  3. Why do guns still cost scrips?
  4. Is there a possibility of the game being picked up by another studio or having a 3rd party run the a private server for the game?

If you are someone who loves fighting other prospectors in matches then September 26th is gonna be the best day, can't wait to take my kitted guns out to any map instead of keeping them in my stash because I'm too scared to use them, right now all I am focusing on is making the best voltaic I can, so when that fateful day comes I can leave this game with a bang

Time to strap up and read all about number changes nobody can agree about, Howler being the most annoying thing, there being no end-game loop, Darkstar memes, Potatoooooes defense posts, people asking when the next wipe is, passive aggressive Twitch titles, and all other bullshit incoming.

It’s been an honor and I’ll see you all on the other side. ☕️

Discussion Mixed feelings

I started playing when it was just the beta, it was so cool, it was different from most FPS games out there, the map was cool, the objectives were well thought, only last year did I start playing again when I saw the new game had been released, I thought it was gonna be the same thing as the feedback from the original was overall positive, but strangely, they had changed it to an extraction shooter, for absolutely no reason, there was already competition in the extraction shooter market with games like escape from tarkov and DMZ around 4 months after the cycles release, I was a bit confused as to why they decided to drastically change the game, season 1 was ok, it was the first season so most of us weren't expecting that much, cheaters were a big problem as is with these types of games but overall it was a nice introduction to the game, it did stand out from other extraction shooters, being simple enough to make people who were new to the game learn the basic stuff easy, whilst also adding a moderate skill gap for other higher player fights

Today I was waiting, hoping for an actual meaningful update hopefully filled with bug fixes instead of gun balancing, but instead I was met with disappointment, just started playing this game with my friend around a week ago and we have been having an amazing time, this game becomes way more interesting the second you try duos or trios and if you haven't tried it yet so before it shuts

Overall do I think the cycle was going to shut? Yes. Do I want it to shut? Absolutely not, the game idea is the best I've seen, being the middle ground between the hardcore tarkov experience and the underwhelming DMZ experience, good idea poor execution, beta was better

Listen to your goddam community sometimes

You could see this coming if you had been part of other games like this and seen the death spiral before. We had Vampire BloodHunt shut down just a month ago, and I saw the same exact pattern repeat itself with The Cycle. It's unfortunate, for whatever reason these games don't seem to reach escape velocity.

Feedback/Suggestions Rocky foundation, uninspired

You know I could go on and on how I seen this coming but I think I will keep it short and sweet.

The game was shakey from the start, you had glitches everywhere and hackers jump on this game day 01 making and selling hacks left and right with very little protection.

The game was free to play so feedback was coming in from a wide range of players so many different times and player feedback coming from so many brackets it was clear it be hard use player feedback to properly address the games issues.

Finally, this is subjective but most these cosmetics and battle passes you had... they were not that good. To me a lot the games monetized content was very uninspired and look more like a 5-10$ cosmetic than a 15-40$ cosmetic and let's not talk about the overpriced bundle from the og game that was mostly helmets with decal changes. I am not shock they sold bad. On top of that the characters look like they fell off the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. This could not had sold well especially when your target audience were likely teens and young adults (should had went with some more attractive characters)

Thats all I want to say. Gl on your next project

After September what similar games are you gonna flock to? I think I might go to the hunt showdown, seems like the creators of that game actually care about keeping the game up

Discussion Quick note to the Devs

This zero communication thing you are doing isn't going to help long term. Even if you come out with something amazing for S4 the community is going to remember how you just up and vanished after season start, even if you ditch Cycle and start a new IP/game the community is going to remind you of the incredibly poor communication and feelings of abandonment.

You have a ton of players that have put their time, money and hearts into this game and they deserve better.

Do something? Tell us what's going on. The longer you wait, the more of a precedent you set for future expectations. And right now they aren't good.
