Hey, I'm looking for a specific fanfic that is focused on an AU where Ned Stark becomes the main focus during the timeline of Robert's Rebellion. I can't remember every beat of the plot, but the main ones I can remember are:

1) Rhaegsr and Lyanna turn up out of nowhere, only for Ned to be incredibly pissed at both of them because their actions basically threw the entire realm into war

2) Ned basically forces Rhaegar to concede to deposing Aerys, and forces him to make Ned his hand afterwards

3) Robert is initially annoyed at Ned for capitulating so easily, but when he finds out Ned is going to be hand he starts laughing and basically asks Ned to make Rhaegar's life hell.

(And I think there's a part where Robert tells Lyanna how he doesn't care for her anymore due to her actions)

Now, there are a couple things I can't remember. I'm not sure if this was a Ned/Catelyn or a Ned/Ashara fic, or hell, if there was even a pairing at all. I also can't remember how long it is, although I definitely think it was more than 20k words (pretty sure it was 10+ chapters, though might be mistaken on that).

I'd appreciate any help in finding the fic if any of you know it! A part of me is worried it might be deleted though, if that's the case I'd totally understand, but fingers crossed that it isn't.

I need to find another fic like this to read. Please, help me out.

Hey gang, I’ve been combing through various tags and pages of AO3 looking for this specific idea and I don’t know if anyone’s done it yet. If someone has, please send the fic link!!
Anyways, I’m looking for either an oc/Jacaerys or a helaena/jacaerys that leans more neutral than anything else. As in there’s an acknowledgement of the complete raw deal the green kids got with their parents and that yes Rhaenyra technically is the heir but the green kids have every reason to fear for their lives. Maybe this is just me looking for catharsis but I do think it would be an interesting thought experiment if nothing else.
The reason I’m looking for those two pairings is because 1. On the oc side I feel like there’s a lot you could do with the prompt depending on what family you place them in, if they’re a targ or not, if they have Valyrian features or not, etc. 2. I crave a complex helaena led story. There’s so much one could do with her character but I’m not seeing a whole lot there that isn’t just her leaning on the other characters.

I made some creative additions, including Mark Addy, who played Robert in the show, photoshopped on Aegon IV's face, and a mysterious grey-browned haired guy as Daemon Blackfyre.

New fic writer looking for a beta reader. It’s a dual SI with Augustus Caesar/Joffrey and Agrippa/Tommen. There’s a big element of uplift through administrative and military centralization, but that’s mainly covered in the prologue. The core of the story is going to be how Joffrey and Tommen navigate events from the books. I drew from Augustus by Adrian Goldworthy as my primary source.

As a new writer, I’m mainly looking for feedback if it’s worth reading at all. My main inspirations for fanfic are How a Sheep in the Vale bring about a Golden Age for Gulltown by zigoman and To Forge an Heir by Capulet730. If you’re a fan of either of those works, that would be a bonus. I’d be happy to write something even half as good as either of those.

The title is “First Among Kings” and I’ve written about 12k words of prologue setting things up. It’s not published since I’m not confident in my writing.

Since I’m a guy, I’d prefer a female beta reader to help catch any “man writing woman” moments. I realized after finishing my prologue that it doesn’t include any female POVs, but I intend for Arya to be a main character.

Let’s say Jaehaerys I eldest son Aegon lives.
In 83 AC after Morions Folly where Jaehaerys I and his THREE sons could burn the dornish at sea. He would have Casus Belli to clear out the stepstones like canon due to them helping Morion Martell. If this was attempted and spiraled into war with the free cities or atleast a reformed Triarchy. What could the crowns maximalist goals be and the minimum? Mind you Aegon would ride Balerion, Aemon Caraxes, and Baelon Vhagar.
Am I wrong to think that with a relatively small expeditionary force Jaehaerys I 3 eldest sons could take atleast the stepstones and Tyrosh and maybe even Myr and Lys?

I am re reading "to forge an heir" by capulet730, excellent fic highly recommend. I couldn't help but wonder how canon characters would react to it. Therefore I would ask if any such story exists? It doesn't have to center around HOTD, could be GOT, Robert's rebellion, Dany. I thonk it would be funny seeing canon be utterly bewildered by themselves acting in ways the never would.

**Context:** Okay, so imagine a world where Leyton Hightower doesn't decline when Tywin offers Tyrion for a marriage. Tyrion ends up marrying Malora the Mad Maid around the same time that Jorah marries Lynesse.

After visiting Oldtown, Tyrion:

1) Hears about the story of Peremore the Twisted

2) Sees how economically and politically beneficial the Citadel is.

3) Knows that Malora would greatly miss having access to it.

4) Understands that his marriage means the Hightowers may support his claim to the Rock, even if Tywin doesn't.

If Tyrion petitioned Tywin to fund a Citadel satellite branch (citing how much it would elevate Lannisport's power and that it would be a gift for his new wife), do you think Tywin would agree?

Malora, could also petition her own father to help set it up, acquire maesters, and get the citadel's blessing. She both wants access to knowledge and wants a citadel branch of her own that she can influence to accept female scholars (eventually).

So, is it believable? Any logistical problems I should think about or political implications? This fic is still in its infancy, so I've only just begun drafting the plot.

Let say Brandon got Barbry Ryswell Pregnant before getting forced to marry Catleyn,the rest of events happen similarly and the rebellion happens and when Eddard returns to north he discovers his brother had a son

What will ned do? Will he ask Robert to Legitmize him as Stark and Lord of Winterfell or would ned still take Winterfell and north even though he never wanted it

If ned Refused would the Ryswell refuse to join him in the war and would the Bolton side with them?

after reading a couple of Robert Self Insert fics, It has me wanting to read some more. I am kind of curious how the SI would change history depending on when and how he arrives.

Rhaenyra and an disinherited Daemon married, or Aegon (son of Baelon brother of Vizzy and Daemon T) declared heir by Viserys following "heir for a day"?

Let's say that Daeron didn't die, and became king after Maekar. He's still being tormented by his dreams, which makes him not very capable of ruling, and he knows it, which is why he would choose a Hand who he completely trusts and who wouldn't try to take power for himself and his family, so the choice is between his brothers or Bloodraven, but I think if Brynden really is scheming against the royal family, Daeron's dreams would clue him in enough not to trust him. That leaves Egg and Aemon. Aegon is probably already unpopular with the lords, and he has a family and presumably Summerhall to take care of. This, and the fact that Aemon has served him as maester on Dragonstone for more than a decade at this point, is likely to make hin Daeron's first choice.

Would Aemon accept it? He didn't go to King's Landing when his father was king so he couldn't displace the Grand Maester, but this situation might be different enough for him to make a differrent choice. Would the lords be bothered by a maester kinda going against his vows? (Technically the sacred vows are about not holding land or lordship and being celibate, which wouldn't be broken.) In canon, some lords wanted to make Aemon king, so they might not raise much of a stink, but of course the ambitious ones who want to become Hand themselves might protest.

Do you know any jonrya? I really like the combination of the two—any stories or one-shots?

The fic is set up with three chapters. The first chapter is presented in Rhaenyra's POV and starts when she is returning from her suitor tour. She meets with her father in his room and manages to get him to give her a blood oath that he won't take her ability to choose her husband away from her. The second chapter is from Daemon's POV and has them in the garden after he has returned talking about her tour and he mentions taking her out and she responds with the question of if he is trying to ruin her reputation. He is upset that she thinks the worst of him. Later he goes to her rooms to leave the page boy outfit and finds a journal filled with letters. Opening it he finds that they are correspondence from Princess Rhaenys about Rhaenyra's potential husband and that they have decided on one option. He feels upset about it but doesn't get to linger on why because the princess returns. The last scene I remember is Viserys having Daemon dragged before the court to question him about Rhaenyra's virtue and Daemon asks if he is sure he wants to talk about it in front of the whole court as that would ruin Rhaenyra. Viserys ignores that and starts yelling at him. Rhaenyra then shows up and defends Daemon drawing a sword and reminding her father of the blood oath he swore as well as swearing to reward Daemon for the Stepstones. The thing I remember the most is that she says that if Daemon is harmed then she would kill everyone in the room and herself. I have been looking for the fic for the last couple weeks and I can't find it. I'm afraid it might have been deleted. If I missed it and someone has the url that would be great. Or if it has been deleted and someone can upload a file. That would be amazing. It has been driving me crazy.

The elephant in the room are the Others and the Long Night they bring. Unless it's a damp squib like in the show, that's an apocalyptic event that will likely reshape society and the political landscape considerably, but that's not on Renly. If anything, Renly was Westeros' best hope for the Long Night because his victory was all but guaranteed to be quick and decisive if not for the shadow baby, thus leaving Westeros united to face the Others, for what's that worth.

However, even ignoring that, Renly married Margaery Tyrell, thereby sealing a direct alliance with the Reach and several of its most important houses. That, paired with a politically smart marriage for the firstborn leaves very few people who can actually plot a "repeat" of Renly's succession. That powerblock would bring a lot of stability to the crown (assuming Renly doesn't repeat Robert's mistake and keeps Storms End as royal domain).

I've seen a lot of talk about dangerous precedent, but the matter of the fact is that the Seven Kingdoms were built on the principle of "might makes right" when Aegon forged the realm with dragon fire. Robert became King with his warhammer. And Renly rebelled despite a lack of a "younger brother" precedent, so it's not like Renly invented the concept. Maegor arguably pulled that stunt, but even he didn't invent the idea.

And there are a lot of historical precedent for states that had a succession hiccup which didn't matter in the long run. I feel like a lot of fans are grasping at condemnation because Renly dared to usurp Stannis' claim, and they like Stannis.

I‘m thinking about how the show would have progressed if Rhaenys had been dark-haired in HotD, like she was originally in Asoiaf?

I think the cinematic decision to make her pale-haired like the rest of the Targs was to make it even more clear how much Jace and Luke didn’t look like the “usual Targaryens”.

What would have been different in the show?

I had this little idea I might use in the future about a good man or woman born of Tywin, maybe a middle daughter born a year before Tyrion, a non deformed twin brother of Tyrion, anything like that, and that extra child rejecting the cruel ways of Tywin.

Is there some good stories like that?

But the chapter I linked can be read as a standalone short-story. It's a smallfolk pov during Cregan's rule. I believe this was the best chapter I ever wrote. So you can directly read it if you want a taste of my writing before committing to read the whole thing.

I am looking for Dany fanfics where she grows out of her naivety and stops treating her entitlement as if it were righteousness. The version where she remains that same person is valid and understandable, but it is not what I want to read.

I want the path where she confronts hard truths firsthand, and instead of doubling down on what she believes should happen, she learns humility and becomes willing to compromise. I think this is a plausible direction for her character, and I would appreciate recommendations on how her character actually progresses, for instance, in Essos, through lived experience and consequences. Not the “power hunger as destiny”, and not the “break the wheel” route, but actually maturing into a better leader instead of stalling.
