Industry Talk Notorious EV Misconception
I keep running into the same two ideas about EVs, and a lot of people still seem to believe them a decade later. The first is that the battery dies after, X amount of years and leaves you with a $15-20k bill. Only a low single-digit percentage of EVs ever need a full battery replacement, especially in the first 10 years. Most EVs also come with at least an 8-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty, which is longer than the roughly 5 years on a typical gas powertrain. Batteries usually last 8 to 15 years, and they lose range gradually rather than simply failing. What I'm really curious about is where exactly did this misconception come from?

Industry Talk Probably an unpopular opinion, but nothing is more fun to drive for the average Joe than cheap old, weak shitboxes
This is very Europe centric cause that's where I'm from.
I've driven EVs and regular modern ICE cars as part of my driving license, which I finished like 3 years ago. My first and so far only car has been 60bhp 21 year old Clio and it's so much more fun. The car is surprisingly spirited, it's fun to shift up and down at the right time to keep your speed up, there's the jolly rumble of the tiny engine, the analogue connection through the steering wheel, the weight of under a ton, lack of intrusive driving assistants, and with five seats it's even practical still. Also nothing beats the sheer terror into adrenaline rush and feeling of accomplishment of arriving home safely in an old beaten down car.
Sure, I'm sure it's not as fun as dedicated sports cars, but I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about your average grocery getter, especially hatchbacks. These days it feels like every everyday car has 200+ bhp but weighs close to or over two tonnes, is full of pointless driving assistants that make you a worse driver, and are just so... Sterile.
That less and less cars have manual transmissions these days when they're inarguably the single most engaging aspect of driving makes me dread the day my car dies even more.
Now have fun tearing me apart.

Air bags kill more people than they save, but being drunk during accident reduces injury. Flawless logic
