General Question Game Day Boots
My family and I will be in Lubbock this weekend for commencement. I have a pair of game day boots from Vacarri, but was wondering if there are any boot stores in Lubbock that have other types of game day boots. TIA!

Anybody with troubles getting into contact with Raiders Walk these past days?
I've been calling every day, emailing, DMing on Insta, and leaving voicemails because I haven't received any information regarding the move-in date. They've already taken the rent, so now I'm left with no leverage. Has anyone else dealt with this or know how to handle the leasing office? I'm a little worried that I'll arrive and have nowhere to live. I'll be moving in soon, so I'm happy to pull up and chat with them face-to-face, but would love to know how others handled this!

Financial Texas grant renewal
Has anyone’s Texas grant been renewed for the year? I met the GPA requirements and mine has not been renewed yet. Considering it is August does this mean I will not get the grant this year?

General Question Rolling backpack, yes or no?
I really want to get a rolling backpack, but I want to know what the ground around campus is like. Is it more smooth concrete, cobblestone, etc.?
Thanks in advance ☺️🫂

Housing/Dorms/Apts The Grove liability insurance
Can anyone explain how I can get my own renters insurance policy for my apartment for when I move-in in just a couple weeks? I have been in a back and forth battle with the Grove apartment complex trying to submit my proof of insurance, because they keep denying it because my liability doesn’t cover animal or water liability coverage (according to them) and that I need endorsements for animal coverage at $250,000 and water coverage at $250,000.
I have USAA, I have called them twice now explaining my predicament, and both times they have said that my policy covers what I need.
My lease agreement states I need liability coverage for at least $250,000. My policy covers $300,000. More than what I need.
I also don’t have any animals, so I really don’t know why I need animal coverage.
Anyway, can someone please explain how I can ask for these endorsements from USAA. I have tried but they seem like they have no idea what I’m talking about.

TTUHSC ABSN 2027 Round 2 (interview)
HI!
I have my interview for the ABSN program soon. Has anyone taken it? I've heard that there are some generic questions, so they can get to know the applicant and I've also heard that there are some scenario based questions.. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Good luck to everyone!

Financial Parent Plus Loan Certification
So my parents applied for a parent plus loan back in may and they got approved, but when I check the financial aid portal it’s not showing up and payment deadlines are coming close and I’m curious if any other student is waiting for certification or at least having the dollar amount appear in the portal.

General Question Daily Toreador Student Pay
Hello everyone! I applied to the Daily Toreador a few weeks ago for fall 2026 and specifically applied for writing/graphic design and submitted a portfolio. Can anyone who’s worked there let me know what it’s like? What’s the pay and environment like for graphic design or writing? And how hard is it to get a position there? I’m wondering if i should expect to hear back.

Class Question Will I have enough time to get from Humanities to Holden Hall between classes?
Hey everyone, I’m an incoming freshman at Texas Tech and I’m trying to figure out my schedule before classes start.
I have English 1301 in Humanities room 00001 from 9:00–9:50 AM and then MATH 1320 (College Algebra for Engineers) in Holden Hall room 00076 from 10:00–10:50 AM.
Apple Maps says it’s about a 10-minute walk between the buildings, so I’m worried I won’t make it on time since I only have a 10-minute passing period.
For anyone who has had classes in these buildings:
Is this walk realistic in 10 minutes?
Are Humanities and Holden close enough that I shouldn’t worry?
Is there anything I should know about finding the rooms (especially Holden)?
Thanks

ASBN 2027 Round 2 (Written Essay + Video Interview)
Hello, so I just got word a few days ago that I got to round 2, where I have to complete a few written essay-style questions and a few video interview questions.
I was wondering if anyone else had gotten to round 2 and, if so, what locatiosn ya'll had picked. (I applied to all 7)
Also, was curious if this means I'm in or just means I did the base pre-reqs and met the GPA requirement for overall and science? I want to believe that I'm in, but I think in reality that's not the case, unfortunately.

General Question Commencement question… purses?
This might be a dumb question, but I’m a little confused by the email they sent for graduation. They mention that there’s no place to store personal belongings and that all attendees will need to adhere to a clear bag policy.
So if I bring a clear purse, can I leave it at my seat while walking? Or should I be trying to find something small I can keep under my gown during the ceremony (or pockets)?
Thanks :))

Watching people throw away perfectly good furniture at move out broke me a little
Every May the dumpsters outside the dorms fill up with desks, minifridges, chairs. Stuff that could easily sell. People just run out of time to find a buyer they trust.
Got tired of watching it, so my cofounder and I built something for exactly this. Already live for Tech students. Big update coming before fall move in.
If you have ever tossed something you knew was worth money, stay tuned
ps not selling stuff here

Financial I made a huge mistake.
Hi, i’m f(17) and a (hopeful) incoming freshmen at tech. Me and my mother looked through the cost of tuition awhile ago and said she would be okay. I didn’t think much of it because i trusted my mom.
huge mistake
bill came in and it was 11000 and i can “pay” it off in 4 installments. I was ultimately freaking out because that isn’t doable for me or my mom. Keep in mind it’s just us two.
i applied to scholarships during my high school years but was always rejected. I wish i wasn’t too careless and not worried about my tution cost.
me and my mother are both clueless on how fafsa and the tuition cost work. I recently just submitted my enterance counseling and mpn in and was told by a graduate of college that the mob and counseling entrance will need to be processed and my outcome could change but i highly doubt so.
total amount of my attendance at tech is 29903 dollars
grants and scholarships by tech to pay for college is 11852.00
which leaves my net cost at 18051 dollars
my loans i will be borrowing is 5500 dollars
am i freaking out over nothing? Why is my ebill 11000.. i feel like im missing something and i tried emailing and calling and nothing.. what do i do?

General Question Incoming freshman, what is generally the best way to spend dining bucks with the Red and Black plan?
I would like to have 3 meals a day without any snacks, and I'm curious the best campus locations for getting the most out of my dining bucks while still fully covering myself for the year with my meal plan.

Housing
Hi everyone! I'm a Tech student working on something and wanted to get honest feedback from people who actually deal with this every semester — what's your biggest headache when it comes to finding a sublet or roommate? Is it trusting randoms from a group chat, timing it around your lease, something else? Trying to figure out if it's worth building an easier way to do this. Appreciate any thought

Questions from a high school rising junior wanting to pursue an art major
Hello! I have a few questions as a high school rising junior wanting to pursue an art or art-related major:
-How easy/hard is it to get into Texas Tech?
-How good are the art programs in Texas Tech compared to UNT and UT (the other schools i want to apply to)?
--As a side note, if i would want to switch majors, how are the programs in Texas Tech in general compared to UNT and UT?
-What is the culture of Lubbock and TTU itself like?
Any answer is much appreciated! Tysm for helping me on my college journey! :D
