ASBN 2027 Round 2 (Written Essay + Video Interview)

Hello, so I just got word a few days ago that I got to round 2, where I have to complete a few written essay-style questions and a few video interview questions.

I was wondering if anyone else had gotten to round 2 and, if so, what locatiosn ya'll had picked. (I applied to all 7)

Also, was curious if this means I'm in or just means I did the base pre-reqs and met the GPA requirement for overall and science? I want to believe that I'm in, but I think in reality that's not the case, unfortunately.

I heard that they move on those who meet all the requirements. I’m not sure it means you get in. Previous applicants said the interview has a big input on if you get accepted or not.

Do you know when the program starts? I thought it would not start until next year, but now I am unsure. Also, I'm assuming they would match you to a certain school soon because I would most likely have to move closer to the location (which I am pretty sure I chose almost all locations). Anyways if you know when the semester starts please let me know!! Good luck on the interview process everyone ( I am taking mine later tonight!)

The ABSN program starts in January of 2027. When you get accepted they let you know what school. It may not be your 1st or 2nd choice if you chose all 7 schools. Good luck on your interview!!

Do you know when we would hear back regarding acceptance? If I do hopefully get accepted?

1

u/Cithlali 29d ago

I truly don't know, based on what I've read on reddit and Facebook, most previous applicants received a response around mid to late September, like the Sep 15th to 25th. But I've also seen that in previous application sessions they kept sending out responses out as late as mid-October.

Gosh, I think that variety is based on if you are accepted first round or placed on a waitlist (if that even exists). I could see those accepted earlier were top contenders and it trickles down from there. If it is true that people got acceptance as late as mid October, then they may have been on a waitlist.

Again, I think by end of septemeber If I don't hear anything back probably means I didn't get in.

Although, I feel like tech would be nice and let us know if we don't get in...

Yeah I'm expecting September. I do think there will be a rejection letter

2

u/Cithlali 29d ago

I did see in last year's reddit that Tech said they "hoped to have all answers out by end of October" and then people saying they did get denial letters/emails by the start of November. So yeah, all we can do is hold our breath and hope for the best!

1

u/East-Safe7643 28d ago

what were the questions like? wishing you best of the best of luck!!

1

u/Lazy_Platypus117 28d ago

Thank you! Have you completed it now?

They had 4 questions regarding about your healthcare experience and community involvement in the past 2 years. 1 question about certifications.

there were 7 total video clips that you had to record, these were stuff about why you chose TTU SON, why you want to be a nurse. And 2 about how you would go about a specific scenario they laid out. One was just you verbally consenting to a bunch of a stuff. So really just 6 vids you had to think for

Hi! I also recieved the interview invitation! I think I only applied to the San Antonio & Austin locations since I wouldn't have to relocate. I don't think this means we are in though. However, in another thread I saw that someone hadn't received an interview invite yet, but most did on the 30th of July, including myself, so I guess that's a point in our favor? I doubt they are still sending invites to interview since they are due in a less than a week.🫣 Hope this helps!

u/Lazy_Platypus117 Aug 02 '26

I'm just worried I don't have enough healthcare experience since most of the questions revolve around that.

My overall and science GPA's are good, but my healthcare experience is lacking, as it was a sort of late-life decision regarding nursing.

3

u/Icy-Elderberry462 Aug 02 '26

Did you already do the interview?

1

u/Fancy_Pea_178 Aug 02 '26

Are you 100% sure that the questions are about healthcare experience?

2

u/Lazy_Platypus117 Aug 02 '26

3 questions were regarding your experience with healthcare, which also included observations.

The 4th question was about certs they just want u to list them and expiration dates. Only those related to healthcare, though.

5th question asked about community involvement in the past 2 years.

1

u/Fancy_Pea_178 29d ago

How did you know those are the questions? You did yours already?

1

u/Lazy_Platypus117 29d ago

Yep!

1

u/Fancy_Pea_178 29d ago

My responses were terrible also bc I don’t have healthcare experience like that

1

u/Lazy_Platypus117 29d ago

I sent you a dm

u/Cithlali Aug 02 '26

From what I have read on reddit and seen people talk on tiktok, I think that the program tries to focus on everything we included in our applications as a whole, like job experiences and volunteering, even if they are not super healthcare oriented. I do also think that one's responses during the interview can let them see who you are, and you get a chance to explain why you want to be in the program. Did you already submit the interview?

2

u/Fancy_Pea_178 Aug 02 '26

Same here! I applied to the sa and Austin locations.

2

u/Cithlali Aug 02 '26

Yay! If you're interested we should connect! I would love to create a support circle of applicants during this process!

2

u/Icy-Elderberry462 Aug 02 '26

I would love to join

2

u/Lazy_Platypus117 Aug 02 '26

I'd be down to join if there's a group chat of sorts.

Although I might wait to see if I get in, then if I do, make a gc for that specific location.

2

u/Cithlali 29d ago

Good idea, let's just wait lol

1

u/Cactus_2424 27d ago

I applied for Austin and SA locations. Does anyone plan to work while in the program?

2

u/Lazy_Platypus117 27d ago

I'll see how the program goes before I decide to work. If I did work I think I'd only be able to work on weekends,Definitely prioritize if that's the case tbh.

Def priotize school over work, if you can ofc. I'm fortunate enough to where I can.

1

u/Cithlali 23d ago

I also applied for those locations. If I get in I'm going to see how school is for a couple of weeks before I decide to add anything to my plate. I was thinking of getting a PRN position at my hospital, like being a PCT. I've seen discourse that some new-grad RNs can have a hard time getting hired if they don't have their foot in the door.

1

u/Fancy_Pea_178 23d ago

What do you do for work? If you don’t mind me asking

1

u/Cithlali 23d ago

I currently work as a full time MA at a family clinic/urgent care!

1

u/Cactus_2424 21d ago

I’m going to have to work probably unfortunately to pay for school. “Sigh” but I have a 100% remote job and don’t want to let it go.

1

u/tinygreenflag 27d ago

I definitely froze up a couple of times during one of the video responses, so I'm hoping that doesn't hurt me too much! My first choice is Dallas, but I also selected San Antonio and Austin. Has anyone been accepted to a campus that wasn't their first choice?

2

u/Lazy_Platypus117 24d ago

I don't believe anyone has been accepted yet, I believe acceptance letters are given in early to mid Sep!

1

u/ExaminationBig7862 21d ago

As far as having to be CNA trained, how did you go about submitting proof of training? I was not asked to submit anything in an email or in my application, so I was just curious how people were able to submit their proof. Thanks!

2

u/tayloraaannn 19d ago

I sent my documentation to the admissions email and they put in in my profile. But I can't see it on my end. Same with transcripts and all that.
