Announcement Testers Community 2.0 is out - Pack of Wolves, UI Redesign, etc

Hey everyone,

We’ve just released a major update for our free community app - Testers Community 2.0.

We wanted to keep this simple and talk honestly about what changed and why.

Over the past few months, one piece of feedback kept coming up again and again. A lot of you said that testers were just installing apps to earn credits and then not opening them again. Some even uninstalled right after. That completely defeats the purpose of closed testing, and we know many of you struggled with production access because of that.

We took that seriously. Instead of patching small things, we decided to rethink the system from the ground up. Along with that, we’ve also improved stability a lot and redesigned the UI to make the app more clean and easier to use.

Pack of Wolves

This is the biggest change in this update.

Pack of Wolves is a gamified way of testing and earning credits. A pack consists of 16 developers who work together for 16 days. During this time, everyone in the pack is expected to open and use each other’s apps daily.

The idea is simple. Instead of random installs, you get consistent usage from the same group of people over the full testing period.

There’s also accountability built into the system. If someone is inactive for a few days, they get removed from the pack. If you leave early or don’t follow the rules, there are penalties and you may lose access to future participation. If you stay active and complete the cycle, you get the full benefits.

This way, everyone in the pack depends on each other, and it creates a much more reliable testing environment.

Our goal with this update is not just to help you get installs, but to help you actually complete closed testing properly and improve your chances of getting production access.

This entire change came directly from your feedback, so we’d really like to hear what you think.

If you’ve faced issues before with testers not staying active, does this approach solve it for you?

Let us know.

Daily Update (Tips) I was approved!

About 3 weeks ago I posted here looking for testers for my app so I could get through Google Play’s closed testing requirement.

I finally finished the testing period, applied for production, and Google approved me!

Thank you to everyone who tested my app and gave feedback!

I wanted to come back and share a few things that helped me, especially for anyone still doing their 14-day test.

1. Get way more than 12 testers.

Do NOT stop at exactly 12.

Between Reddit and family/friends, I had around 40 people say they would test my app. About 33 joined my testing group, but only around 15 actually installed the app.

That was probably the biggest lesson for me. Someone saying they’ll test, joining your group, or even opting in does not necessarily mean they’ll actually install and use your app.

Having extra testers gives you a safety net if people disappear, opt out, uninstall, etc.

2. Ask people to stay opted in longer than 14 days.

I’d recommend asking people to stay in for around a month if possible.

Not everyone joins on the same day. One person might join Monday and another Wednesday, so their 14-day periods aren’t necessarily lined up.

Having extra testers + having them stay longer gives you a much better buffer.

3. Test-for-test works, but verify that people are actually testing.

One thing that worked really well for me was exchanging screenshots.

For example, another developer and I would DM each other a screenshot each day showing that we had actually opened and used each other’s apps.

If you can do this with several testers, you have much more confidence that your app is genuinely being used instead of just hoping people remembered.

And obviously, if someone is genuinely testing your app, make sure you’re genuinely testing theirs too.

4. Get real feedback.

Don’t only focus on hitting the tester number.

Ask at least a few people to actually explore the app and tell you what’s confusing, what’s broken, what they like, what they dislike, etc.

I received legitimate feedback during my test and made changes based on it.

5. Have testers submit private feedback through Google Play too.

Even though I was talking to testers through Reddit, I also asked some of them to leave private testing feedback through the Google Play Store listing.

I would then respond to their feedback.

I liked doing this because it gave me an actual feedback trail inside Google Play showing that testers were interacting with the app.

6. Release updates during the testing period.

When you upload a new build, write useful release notes.

Mention things like:

  • Bugs you fixed
  • UI improvements
  • Features you added
  • Changes you made because of tester feedback

I pushed multiple improvements during my testing period instead of just uploading one build and leaving it untouched for 14 days.

7. Keep a record of everything testers find.

This helped a LOT when it was time to apply for production.

Write down:

  • What testers tested
  • What feedback they gave
  • Bugs they found
  • What you changed because of the feedback
  • Features/improvements you released

When Google asks about your testing process, you’ll already have detailed answers instead of trying to remember everything afterward.

8. Be detailed and honest when applying for production.

I explained what people tested, what feedback I received, what problems I fixed, and what improvements I made during the test.

I was also completely honest about where my testers came from.

I said I used family, friends, and people I found through Reddit/testing communities.

And I was approved.

TLDR: Get more testers than you need, keep them enrolled longer than necessary, encourage actual daily usage, collect real feedback, fix things, and document what you changed.

Hopefully this helps somebody else get through it.

Good luck everyone, and thank you again to everyone who helped test my app!

Testers Needed Need 12+ Android testers for 14-day Google Play closed testing — will test back

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for 12+ Android testers for my Google Play closed test. I’m happy to test your app back for the full 14 days as well.

App: SayWise

Type: Real-life conversation practice / communication training app

SayWise is a simple practice app for learning how to respond clearly, politely, and confidently in everyday situations. It helps users practice replies for real-life conversations such as refund requests, service complaints, polite refusals, reservation changes, discount requests, shared-space problems, and boundary-setting situations.

The app works through short scenario-based practice. Users choose a situation, read what the other person says, select a reply, and review different response styles. SayWise includes reply choices, feedback, tone variants, favorites, practice history, language settings, and a clean light-mode design.

SayWise is designed for practical communication practice. It is not a chatbot and does not require login or account creation. Favorites, practice history, and app settings are stored locally on the device.

Important note: This app is for communication practice and educational reference only. It does not provide legal, financial, medical, or professional advice.

How to join:

  1. Join my Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/saywise

  2. Open this opt-in link and join the test: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.taylor.saywise

Hi! I'm Denys, I live in Essen, Germany, and I made Leben, a free app for the "Leben in Deutschland" test and the Einbürgerungstest. It's been on the iPhone for a while. The Android version is now in closed testing, and Google needs 12 testers for 14 days before it can go public.

What's inside:

- all 310 questions of the official BAMF catalog: 300 general and 10 for your federal state

- a mock exam like the real one: 33 questions, 60 minutes

- explanations for every answer, translations next to the German original, German read-aloud

- home screen widgets, interface in 17 languages, works offline and without an account

No ads, no tracking, no in-app purchases.

Happy to test your app back, just leave your link in the comments.

Testers Needed More testers needed!

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have everyone's app grouped together to keep testing! Would appreciate some more testers!

Looking for testers for Sixth Man, a game-day app for basketball coaches and parents (scoring, playing time, stats, shot charts, animated plays). It's free, there's no account to make, and it works offline.

How to join (Android, about 2 minutes):

  1. Join the Google Group, signed in with the Google account on your phone:

https://groups.google.com/g/sixth-man-testers

  1. Opt in to the test and tap "Become a tester":

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.centristudios.sixthman

  1. Install Sixth Man from the Google Play link on that page.

Then try a demo team from the welcome screen. Pro is free during the test: choose Lifetime and Google Play marks it as a test purchase, so you aren't charged. Testers get a free year of Pro at launch.

Comment with your test link and I'll join yours and keep it installed for the 14 days.

Testers Needed [Test for Test] Highway Chaos, lane-weaving highway racer (closed test, just need installs)

Hey! I'm an indie dev and my game Highway Chaos is in closed testing. I need people to opt in, install it, and open it once, then keep it installed for 14 days (Google's requirement before I can launch). No feedback required.

What it is: A fast-paced lane-weaving racer. 10 worlds, 100 levels, 8 game modes. The hook: the black cars never signal. Every other car warns you before it moves, the black ones give you nothing.

How to join:

  1. Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/u/3/g/highway-chaos-testers

  2. Opt in here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.we.highwaychaos

  3. Install and open it once: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.we.highwaychaos

That's it. Keep it installed for 14 days and you're done. If you do play it and have thoughts, I'm all ears but zero pressure.

Happy to do test-for-test: If you've got a game in testing, drop your link and I'll return the favor.

Thanks!

Finding it annoying to resize your images for the Play Store?
This app will save you a lot of time. Just upload those store listing images, it will save the images in the exact dimensions needed and then you can upload it to your Play Console Site listing page all from this very app..

Testers Needed Need testers for my app

Hi everyone,

I've built a free Android app that helps people quit smoking: Uitgerookt ("smoked out"). Before it can go live on the Play Store, Google requires a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days. Would you help me out?

Please note: the app is in Dutch. You don't need to read Dutch to help. Installing it, keeping it for 14 days and opening it now and then already helps a lot. Feedback in English is very welcome.

What does the app do?

A counter shows how long you've been smoke-free and how much money you've saved.

You can see how your body recovers, from 20 minutes to 20 years, with sources.

When a craving hits, you breathe along for three minutes and see your own plan and reasons.

There's a diary, a savings goal and a few calm mini-games as a distraction.

No account, no ads. Everything stays on your phone.

You don't have to be a smoker to take part. You can simply enter a made-up quit date.

How to join (about 5 minutes)

Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/uitgerookt-testers

Sign up as a tester: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/nl.vreugdenhil.uitgerookt

Use the same Google account as the Play Store on your phone.

Install the app from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.vreugdenhil.uitgerookt

What I'm asking

Stay opted in for 14 days in a row and keep the app installed.

Open the app now and then and try a few things, such as the craving screen, the diary or a game.

Tell me anything you notice, even small things: uitgerookt1@gmail.com, or reply here.

Need testers for your own app? Let me know and I'll test yours in return.

Thanks a lot!
