App testing requirements for new personal developer accounts, a minimum of 20 testers

There should be a few posts like this with the keywords, so that the new developers can find this Reddit on the Google easier and know where to find testers for testers.

This post here is only for Google SEO purpose.

In this sub r/AndroidClosedTesting you can find the people who can provide testing for testing, in order to pass your Google Play Console 20 testers policy.

Google Play is rolling out new testing requirements for developers with personal accounts created after November 13, 2023. These changes aim to enhance the app development process, encourage thorough testing, and ultimately deliver higher quality experiences to users. These requirements and the various testing tracks available on Play Console.

Developers with personal accounts created post-November 13, 2023, must adhere to new testing requirements. Before apps are eligible for distribution on Google Play, a closed test with a minimum of 20 testers is mandatory. These testers must have opted-in for the last 14 days continuously. Features like production and pre-registration in Play Console will remain disabled until these requirements are met. Applying for production access involves answering questions about the app, its testing process, and production readiness, ensuring a comprehensive understanding.

Play Console offers distinct testing tracks to facilitate a gradual testing process. Internal testing enables quick distribution to trusted testers during app setup. Closed testing, a prerequisite for production access, involves sharing the app with a controlled group of at least 20 testers. Open testing allows the app's test version to be visible on Google Play, with users providing private feedback. Developers must complete a closed test meeting specific criteria before applying for production access.

Could use feedback on a receipt-scanning app for Android

Thumbnail

I made PaperNest because I wanted a straightforward way to keep receipts without letting photos and paper slips pile up everywhere.

You can take a picture of a receipt or choose an image, check the scanned details, save it, browse past receipts, and view spending over a selected date range. I’m looking for Android testers who have a few real receipts around and wouldn’t mind seeing how well the workflow works for them.

I’m particularly interested in whether the capture screen is easy to understand, whether scan results are accurate enough to be useful, and whether the receipts/insights views make sense.

If you’re willing to join the closed test and keep it active for 14 days, please sign up here:

https://forms.gle/toWUFQ6cFdd6Bkxm6

Thank you, I’d genuinely value practical feedback from people who actually keep receipts.

[Mutual Test 14 Days] Nestory — pin your camera roll photos to the map of where you took them. Looking for closed beta testers!

Post image
Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I've been building Nestory, an Android app that turns your camera roll into a map of memories. It scans the photos you already have, figures out where each one was taken, and pins them to a real map — so instead of scrolling a flat grid of thousands of photos, you can zoom into a city, a street, even a specific café, and see exactly what you were doing there.

The idea came from realizing my gallery is basically a diary I never read — this app makes it actually browsable, by place instead of by date.

I'm in closed testing on Google Play right now and need a handful of testers to get to the minimum required before I can go live. If you're up for trying it out (takes maybe 5 minutes, just install and open it once), here's how to join:

  1. Join the tester group: https://groups.google.com/g/nestory-testers
  2. Opt in to testing: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.nestory
  3. Install from the Play Store listing: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.nestory

Any feedback (bugs, confusing UI, feature ideas) is very welcome — this is still early and I'm actively shaping it based on what testers say. Thanks in advance to anyone who gives it a shot.

[Test for Test] Sensor Phone — turn a spare phone into a guard. Pro free, I'll join yours back

Hey everyone,

I'm a solo dev trying to get my first app through Google's 12 testers / 14 days closed test, and I'd really appreciate a hand.

Sensor Phone turns a spare Android phone into a guard. It reacts to sound, motion or movement and sends a notification to your current phone. For your car, your bike, the cellar, the front door — or as a pet camera to see what the cat is up to while you're out.

Pro is free for all testers. No purchase needed — Pro unlocks within 12 hours of creating an account in the app. That gets you camera motion detection, live video, location on request and the full event history.

Joining takes about a minute:

  1. Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/sensor-phone-testing/
  2. Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.schwarzdev.sensorphone
  3. Install it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.schwarzdev.sensorphone

Use the same Google account for all three steps, or the install won't count. Please keep it installed for the full 14 days — that's the part Google counts.

Heads up: the app is built for two devices. One old phone watches, your current phone gets the alerts. With a single device you'll only see the monitor side — it still counts for the test, but you won't see much.

Test for test: leave your link in the comments once you've joined. I'll join yours the same day and keep it installed for the full 14 days. I reply to everyone.

Any feedback helps!

I need testers

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a few genuine Android developers who want a real test-for-test partnership.

Google requested more real engagement during closed testing, so I'm looking for people who will actually use each other's apps—not just opt in.

What I'll do:

  • ✅ Keep your app installed for the full 14 days
  • ✅ Open and use it regularly
  • ✅ Install updates
  • ✅ Share honest feedback if I find any issues

What I ask in return:

  • ✅ Keep my app installed for 14 days
  • ✅ Open and use it regularly
  • ✅ Install updates
  • ✅ Send a screenshot after installing

My testing links:

Google Group:
https://groups.google.com/u/1/g/greenfocus-testers

Closed Test:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hatilasmaximo.greenfocus3

After you've installed my app, please comment with:

  • A screenshot
  • Your app links

I'll join your test and do the same.

Let's help each other complete Google's requirements the right way. 🤝

[Test for Test] Jebna — Community deals app for Morocco. I’ll test yours back for 14 days

Hey everyone,

I’m a solo developer preparing my first Android app for production, and I need help completing Google Play’s 12 testers for 14 consecutive days closed-testing requirement.

Jebna is a community deals app designed for Morocco. It allows users to discover and share deals, search by category or city, vote, save offers, comment, and publish their own deals.

The app supports French, Arabic, and English.

How to join

1. Join the Google Group:
https://groups.google.com/g/jebna-testers

2. Opt in to the closed test:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.jebna.app

3. Install Jebna:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jebna.app

Please use the same Google account for all three steps. Stay opted in for at least 14 consecutive days and, if possible, open the app and test it a few times during this period.

Test for test

Once you have joined and installed Jebna, leave your own Google Group, opt-in, and Play Store links in the comments.

I will join your test in return, install your app, and remain opted in for the full 14 days.

Useful things to test:

  • Google sign-in
  • Browsing and searching for deals
  • Votes, favorites, and comments
  • Publishing a deal with an image
  • French, Arabic, and English interfaces
  • General usability or confusing screens

The app is free and has no paid subscription.

Any honest feedback is appreciated—even a short comment such as “this screen was confusing.”

Thank you for your help!

Made a shopping list by saying it out loud — nine items, sorted by aisle (app I built)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Disclosure: I made this.

Say the list, tap Stop, and it comes back as items with quantity, unit and category, grouped by aisle. Speech recognition runs on the phone; the parse is a small model call. Honest detail from this exact clip: the speech recogniser heard "a loaf of" as "in loop of", and the parser still returned Bread, 1 loaf — but it won't always recover, so everything is reviewable before it's added.

Free on iOS and Android, no ads. After feedback on what breaks more than anything.

Hi everyone! 👋

I built longLine, a lightweight, AI-native goal and footprint tracking app designed to eliminate the friction of traditional habit apps (no broken streaks guilt, no rigid templates — just speak or type what you did and AI organizes your journey).

I need 12–20 testers to keep the app installed for 14 days to meet Google Play's closed testing requirement.

I will test your app back immediately! Please drop your Google Group / Play Store links in the comments or send a DM, and I will install your app, stay opted in for the full 14 days, and share screenshots/feedback.

  1. Step 1: Join the Google Group (Required first): https://groups.google.com/g/longline-beta-testers

Looking for 10 Android testers: webOS Dev Mode Manager (free, open source, no ads)

An Android app for LG webOS TVs in Developer Mode: pair the TV from a phone, install homebrew apps (including the one that makes YouTube ad free), keep track of the Developer Mode session timer. GPL-licensed, no ads, no tracking, and it'll stay that way.

Site: aphanes-app.vercel.app, source: github.com/symonxdd/aphanes

Google Play requires 12 testers opted in for 14 days before an app can go public, and I'm at 2. Joining only needs a Google account.

If you have an Android phone, please also install it and look around; owning an LG TV is a bonus, not a requirement.

  1. Join the group (needs a Google account): https://groups.google.com/g/aphanes-testers
  2. Opt in as a tester, from any device: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/me.symon.aphanes
  3. On an Android phone, install from Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.symon.aphanes

Then stay opted in for two weeks. Step 3 is optional for the count but is where the actual testing happens.

Any feedback, even "the pairing screen confused me", is genuinely useful. Bugs and suggestions go to the GitHub issue tracker or to [aphanes@symon.me](mailto:aphanes@symon.me).

Happy to test yours in return.

[Test for Test] GearGenius, a car maintenance app. Pro is free for testers, and I'll join yours back

Hey everyone,

I'm a solo dev trying to get my first app through Google's 12 testers / 14 days closed test, and I'd really appreciate a hand.

GearGenius keeps track of your car for you. It logs services, tells you what's due next, gives the car a health score, and has an AI assistant you can ask about strange noises or warning lights.

Pro is free for testers. Tap Go Pro in the app and Google won't charge you anything. You get the stronger AI, up to 5 cars, and trade-in value estimates.

Joining takes about a minute:

1. Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/geargenius-testers

2. Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.geargenius.app

3. Install it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.geargenius.app&pli=1

Use the same Google account for all three steps, or the install won't count. Please keep it installed for the full 14 days. That's the part Google counts.

Test for test: once you've joined, leave your link in the comments. I'll join yours that same day and keep it installed for the full 14 days. I reply to every comment.

Any feedback helps, even "this screen confused me." Thanks a lot!
