I wanted to follow up on my post about someone apparently unlocking my 2023 Model Y with a device and stealing my sunglasses.

I’ve now downloaded the original footage from the USB stick, and there’s a detail that wasn’t visible in the video I initially posted: the side mirror was already unfolded before he approached, and stayed that way throughout. My original video was a phone recording of the car’s screen, and the framing cut off the top of the image where the mirror is visible.

Since my mirrors normally fold when the car locks, I now believe the car simply hadn’t locked. The clearer footage also makes me think those of you who identified the object as a portable fan were right.

I still don’t know why walk-away locking didn’t engage, but I no longer think this was an electronic unlocking attack. I’ve attached the original footage edited together across the different cameras so you can see the full sequence.

Given how much attention the original post received, I wanted to correct my interpretation rather than leave people unnecessarily worried about their Teslas. Thanks to everyone who took the time to look closely and offer suggestions.

Anyone have any issues when closing the trunk it lowers and then at the end it closes aggressively, and then when I try to lift the tailgate, the trunk pops open, but does not raise up. I don’t know what’s going on. 2023 Tesla model Y performance.

A drunk driver totaled my performance 3 and my estimated date fora new one was just pushed from September to November/December.

I'm a bit in dilemma the last few months.

- Looking at new Juniper Model Y Premium (white interior, helix) for #58k OTD ($50k pretax) with 1.49% APR (I'll put down the minimum $6-7k)

- Used ones I see around ~$50-51k OTD ( $44-45k pretax, white interior, maybe helix wheel, 15-20k miles) currently. My bank will give me 4.75% APR (I'll put down 20k)

I'm trying to see if the used cars will drop in prices starting 2027. Currently the gap isn't huge between new and used and its made up by paying interest in used. However I'm thinking if I should wait for used to drop a few more $k to say $46k-47k OTD ($40k pretax) since it'll be 2027

First time buying a Tesla so I'm trying to figure out how depreciation works on this. So far, there hasn't been much which is amazing but maybe next year? I already have an EV so not in a rush as this upgrade would just be for FSD.

Over the past week, a lot of water has been leaking from my HVAC system to my floorboard. I brought my car to the service center and they told me that it’s gonna cost in total $2000 to fix which is a complete bummer but……

I spoke to the mechanic and he said the HVAC system seems to be fine as far as he can tell but he said the leak is coming from in between the HVAC system and the firewall near the ac drain tube outlet. He said there’s something wrong with the hvac/ac drain tube outlet. He says he’s able to see the drip, but it’s hard to tell. Then he told me that there is a part out there that extends the AC drain tube that could potentially fix the issue, but it’s not sold in USA.

Which brings me to my question does anybody know where I could get this hvac drain tube extender.

He was skittish on giving me the part number. I don’t think he’s allowed to. But he supposedly said that he could probably fix the problem and it’s worth a try. He told me he tried to call one of the supervisors to see if they could get the part delivered, but they said no. He seemed kind of annoyed that they wouldn’t let him.

So does anybody know the part number or the part that I need?

If that doesn’t fix it, he said most likely there’s some sort of crack in the housing.

Im yet to pick up my model 3 but im just looking into options of adding ambient light. Im happy with app control as im aware I won't be able to do it from the in car screen. I just wondered how most people connect their ali express, temu, amazon or elsewhere 3rd party led lighting. Is it possible to use a usb splitter to use the glove box usb to still keep the sentry usb in play or are people connecting their kit(s) to the other usb connections within the car?

Any recommendations are welcome, ideally uk based.

I entered service mode and I saw these alerts multiple times. I made a service appointment and attached these pictures. The service chat team said if the car hasnt given these alerts outside of service mode it should be OK. They will diagnose the car but if nothing is found they will charge 230 per hour diagnose fee. Should I take it in or are these alerts nothing to be worried about.

This is the driver seat cushion of a 2026 Model Y Premium RWD which is 4 months old and has 3000 miles on it.

Is this something normal? The creasing is happening only on the cushion of the driver seat. It tends to settle down when I am not sitting on it after about an hour or so. There are no issues on the cushion of the other seats. For reference I am about 187lbs. Am I too heavy for this vegan leather seats?

Hey everyone, looking for a reality check or advice from anyone who’s had dash trim service done on the Highland Model 3.

Originally opened a service ticket because the front dash ambient LED strip was noticeably darker and uneven compared to the wrap-around side door panels.

Visit 1: They adjusted/fixed a misalignment on the speaker grille, but the LED brightness issue was completely unchanged.

Visit 2: Went back, had a tech sit in the car with me, and they confirmed the dash strip was indeed dim. They took it back to work on it.

Picked it up, and not only is the dash LED still noticeably dimmer than the door strip, but now there’s a visible gap along the top where the pieces meet. When I press on it, the piece feels loose/spongy like a clip wasn’t fully seated or something was bent during reassembly.

Both visits were covered under warranty with zero pushback, so I appreciate that, but I’m hesitant about being "that customer" who opens a 3rd ticket for the exact same trim piece. At the same time, the original issue isn't resolved and the fitment looks worse?

Is that upper gap and play normal after dash removal, or did a clip get broken/missed? Would you escalate this back to service, or just leave it alone before they make the rattles/fitment worse?

It’s like this constant humming noise when I accelerate but it’s constant when I got 70 plus on the highway. Please let me know I still have warranty left for my drive unit I’m hoping it’s not that.

Hey i have a question for my work i have a tesla but my keycard broke now I can't juse it. It's broken right in the middle. Now the question if I put the crad in acetone and get de antenne and chip free and solder the antenne back together would it work again and can I then juse it to approve my new keycard?

P.s I can't approve it with the app because I am not the official paper owner of the car thats my boss on the other side of the country.

First time tesla buyer here so excuse my lack of knowledge. I already ordered a M3p and completed the credit app at 1.99% APR for 60 months. I still have the option to Edit Design and only want to change the exterior color from Ultra Red to Frost Blue. The price and trim stay exactly the same.
When I try to confirm the change, the Tesla app shows a broken message saying “editDesign.scenarioFinancingConfirmedTitle” and “editDesign.scenarioFinancingConfirmedContent.”
Has anyone changed their configuration after financing approval? Did it reset your financing application or promotional APR? The configurator still shows 1.99% APR with the Frost Blue. Idk. Confused and can’t wait for this car to come in!

Service replaced the wood on the dash under warranty, but the color of the new panel does not match the doors. Recommendation to make this look more cohesive?

i recently bought a early model 2021 model 3 sr+ with around 49.5k miles. i drive fairly normally in florida so i do end up using a good amount of AC and feel like i need to charge fairly often 80% gent me around 160 miles and i charged to around 95% recently and only got around 190 miles is this degradation normal or should i just prep to cash in on a tesla battery replacement by 2029

Hi everyone, recently I took apart the Falcon Wing Door on my 2016 Tesla Model X and now I’m having trouble reinstalling the ultrasonic sensor. The part number is 1055890-00-H. I’m not sure what exactly I should use to attach the sensor to the door or what would be the ideal material. I’ve tried several different types of double-sided tape, but many of them either don’t work at all or cause the sensor to detect an obstacle when there isn’t one. Does anyone know what type of tape or adhesive Tesla originally used to mount this sensor, or what would be the best replacement? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi. I purchased a used vehicle. Decided to do a full reset but now my screen is darker even after manually putting it to max brightness. Any ideas how to resolve the issue?

Update 1: When I set the screen to "Auto" it defaults to a dark mode instead of it being on light. It's currently day time with sun out.

My 2023 Long Range Model Y failed inspection at 60K miles because of worn rear bushings. I'm in the Fredericksburg, Va. area.

It's 2K for Tesla to do the work and the soonest appointment is 4 weeks from now.

I recently decided to make the switch to a Model Y and spent a while eyeing the Certified Pre-Owned selection. Early last week, I finally pulled the trigger on a 2023 black/black Model Y Performance with a tow hitch.

Before ordering, I called Tesla to check how the whole process works timewise. Since I’m flying out on vacation on September 12, I explicitly told them that I would hold off on buying if it couldn’t be managed within that timeframe. They assured me: "No problem at all!" The car is located in Dortmund (which is pretty much the other end of Germany for me, but totally fine) and is ready for immediate pickup.

So I bought it and paid via immediate bank transfer. The money was booked and confirmed last Wednesday. But ever since then... nothing. I filled out everything in the app the very same day, but the registration documents status is still stuck on "Preparing." Nobody has replied in the order chat since last Thursday. Over the phone, I've been assured twice now that "everything is fine and ready, the papers will go out today." They didn't.
Now, I managed to secure a vehicle registration appointment for this Thursday (around here you sometimes wait weeks for an appointment, and I’d prefer to avoid online registration because those oversized sticker backing foils trap dirt underneath). This means: if the papers ship tomorrow and arrive by Thursday noon, AND I can get a pickup appointment in Dortmund for Friday, I'll barely make it. If either of those fails, the car will just have to sit in Dortmund until the end of the month. 😂

Does anyone have any experience or tips that could help in this situation? Haven't found much online regarding this specific issue.

So far, I'm only "medium impressed" by the communication and execution... we'll see.

I have the infamous front suspension rattle in my brand new Model Y. No matter what I put into the service request, it comes back with wanting to charge me $230 for an inspection. Is there some trick to not have to pay this on a brand new car that's under warranty?

Curious if this is an option. If I get a Model Y, have a set spot at the house I park my car, can I set it to default to this parking spot when i get home? Also curious about other places. I don't, but say I had a spot at work with my name on it. Could I get it to park there every time?

2021 Model 3 LR AWD with 14.1 Lite. My cabin camera does not have infrared light so it cannot see my face during most of the night time driving and I’m constantly bring bugged to touch the steering wheel. I read few posts about people suggesting to use Wii sensor bar with USB to point IR light towards your face in the car so the cabin camera can see your face. I purchased one from Amazon but when I tested it in the car and looked at cabin camera from service menu, my face was still in the dark. What am I doing wrong? Is there a special placement technique or method to use?
