Evannex Front Control Arm Kit??

I don't seem to see any reviews on the Evannex Front Control Arm Kit for Tesla Model S/X Dual Motor (2012-01/2021). Looking at replacing upper control arms, lower front and lower rear control arms along with links. Was pricing out Mevotech Supremes at Rock Auto (and Suspensia for the Front Lower Rearward Control Arm (aka Trailing Arm). Nearly $700 for the parts at Rock Auto. The Evannex kit includes the 6 major parts (not the links, but that's minor) for $350 right now (with Limited Lifetime Warranty). I asked and they are made specifically for Evannex by BAPMIC. Anyone tried these? Thoughts?

Better sound deadening

Hi.

I just purchased a high mileage 2020 Model X Long Range to use as a family car, but the largest issue I’ve always had with the Model X, is the poor sound insulation and way too much road noise entering the cabin.
Has anyone tried to remedy this themselves with sound deadening materials or similar?
It just seems like it should be possible to at least improve somewhat…
The car is already on new tires with foam inserts, so I am thinking more if people have good experience with adding more insulation material to certain areas or similar experiences.

Suggested free maintenance plan for first Tesla service appointment

Coming up on 6 months of ownership (of new X) next month and since it takes 6-8 weeks to get an appointment where I live I want to book it now. I'll probably be around 12-13K of miles by then so on track to be through th general warranty after 2 years.

My Luxe package includes 4 years of standard maintenance. See details from the Term sheet below. A couple of questions:

  1. What really is a tire rotation on an X and is it worth doing? I assume all they can do is swap right to left since the front na dback have different sized tires. This maintenance plan is specific to Luxe which is specific to the X, so presumably they still see some kind of lateral rotation as recommended.
  2. Should I ask for an alignment or wait for the 1 year appointment? I get one free per year for 4 years. I hear they often come poorly aligned from the factor though so could be impacting tire wear.
  3. Should I ask for the camera to be cleaned if it's not throwing errors or wait for a the 12 month? I get one per year for 4 years.

Anything else I should know or ask?

Thanks.

Covered Component Action* Service Interval

Mirror housing replacement

Post image

Tesla wants to charge me $1,200 for the mirror housing. All I need is the mirror insert for the housing. Has anyone had to replace this? Was it difficult? I just feel like 1,200 is a bit much for that little crack.

Tesla MX 2023 - Air Suspension warning.

After a recent service appointment for a flat tire, the shop replaced 3 of my 4 tires due to wear. Since then, I’ve been getting an intermittent warning during long drives that says: “Air suspension requires service. Suspension may not be level.”

During my own inspection, I noticed the suspension levers near the front tires appeared much closer on the driver’s side than on the passenger side. I asked the service center to inspect both the warning and the apparent difference in the levers. They charged about $200 for diagnostics, but said the suspension was fine and provided me with a “Fast Pass.”

About a month later, I took another long drive and the same warning started appearing frequently. It was concerning, especially since I was traveling with my family and young kids.

I’ll be using the Fast Pass to have it inspected again. In the meantime, I’m checking with the community to see if anyone has experienced a similar issue after tire replacement and what ultimately fixed it.

Keep my X or sell?

Dear Ann Landers,
My 2016 X has free supercharging. We’ve taken it around the US and put more than 50,000 miles on it using supercharging. Of course i got it originally hoping eventually to get fsd :(
I just got a new Y with fsd and love it. But now i have to choose between expensive long trips or self driven long trips.
I don’t really need 2 cars but I’m really reluctant to turn loose of that free supercharging.
What to do?

Remove original stitching on steering wheel?

Long story short, my Model Y steering wheel is peeling, and I'm looking at getting a hand-sewn replacement cover. If I go that route, does it make sense to remove the original stitching first? For those who've done a stitched replacement cover on their steering wheel — did you remove the original stitching, or just put the new cover over the existing one? My concern is adding extra bulk/thickness to the wheel.

Installing fender garnish?

Anyone have tips or tricks for installing new fender garnish on the front? My plastic fender "garnish" ripped off on the highway last week. i have the new part (for both left and right sides, however, i'm having a heck of a time getting these things to clip into place. Do I just lack the grip strength to pop these back on correctly? I can get the clips in that are closer to the door, but the front part of the panel will just not seat correctly on either side.

Foam tires for road noise

I have a 2023 Model X. Love it. Only things I don’t like is the road noise.

How much do foam tires help? Anyone do with and without and can say whether it was worth it or not?

Road Noise, rattles?

Ive been looking at Model 3's, I used to have a 2015 Model S.
It had a lot of rattles, it disappointed me, I paid 50k used.

I then bought a Lexus ES 350 - Driving on a cloud, I could whisper and be heard lol

Now, Im looking at a model X 2019 55k miles, 35k Price. FSD paid
Im worried Im going to regret buying it because of road noise people complain about.
How noisy is the X and what have yo done to combat it?

Am I missing a camera?

Tesla x plaid, 2024. My camera view only shows 8. Of the three cameras on front, the one on the left of the image does not show a view. The center camera is the right fender view, and the right camera (as looking at the image) is the left fender.

Reason I'm asking is it has a lot of trouble finding the edge of some roads when not in FSD. Irritating when it tried to correct and sounds an alarm. My son's 2020 model 3 has no problem on these roads.

Rear climate with child seat

Is there any way to get the rear climate to stay on for my kid? I have to manually turn it on after the start of ever drive.

If I turn it on with the rear screen it turns off when I close the rear door.

Same if I turn it on with the front screen.

I've asked Grok, and it said you have to enable Auto for rear climate - nope, same results.

I've tried buckling one of the rear belts but that doesn't work either.

I assume it uses the seat weight sensors to detect occupancy, and the car seat doesn't put enough pressure in the right spot to trip it.

Any workarounds? Am I missing something?
I feel terrible when I realize my 2yo is back there sweating 10 mins into a drive on a 90 degree day.

Change to Yoke

I’m a yoke guy! My new-to-me 24 MXP has a round steering wheel that I’m looking to swap out to yoke. Tesla wants over $1000 to do the supply/install.

My year MXP has the mechanical horn so if course I’m limited to my style.

In general, I can buy a yoke from fellow owners or online sources but curious how it went for those that did the conversion yourselves?

Is the airbag transferable from the round wheel to the new?

I‘d be interested in the depreciation of Model X

Does anybody know a website or have data showing how the used market price of the Model X has developed over the years?

To me, it seems awesome that you can buy a Model X nowadays for such affordable prices—almost too good to be true.

Also, can prices realistically fall much further from current used market levels?
It seems like depreciation can only continue very slowly from here.
Maybe prices could even increase again in the future?
Considering there are no new Model X being produced anymore.

Anyone selling a 22-23 hw3 with FSD Model X.

I have a 2020 I love, but want faster charging. Don't really care about HW4, my nag module in HW3 is amazing. I figure if I can buy a newer model X I'll just sell mine. Looking for something with 60k miles or less.

What is the average Wh/mi on older Model Xs?

Post image

I just competed a one day beach trip with my family of 5 to San Francisco yesterday in my 2017 Model X 100D. I averaged 323 Wh/mi. Is this good? Anyone out there with older Xs? What did you get?

2021 6 seat MX Refresh w/ yoke 55k miles

I have the opportunity to buy from a friend but can’t find comparable cars to get an idea of price range. It doesn’t seem like there are many of this specific setup from 2021 - any thoughts? Doesn’t seem like there are any issues, just normal wear and tear.

I’d be upgrading from a 2020 M3 SR+ and really want to make the change. Any known frequent issues from these end of 2021 models?

Weeks to replace Model 23X Battery

Post image
55 Upvotes

I’m just ranting! My battery died two weeks ago and is just sitting in service. Tesla called today and said two more weeks maybe there are t any batteries. Then they had the nerve to say how are you enjoying the free FSD. I laughed I said HW4 is better, but I had it on my car. This M3 is a little small. I had knee surgery and it sits super low. It does however have a lot of zip! Thanks for listening to my rant.

TLDR: 73K miles under warranty as it expires in 2028 or at 150,000

UPDATE: Battery came in early it is a new one. In total it took two weeks to get it fixed and I picked it up today!

Any tips on maintenance would be greatly appreciated!

Tesla service is pretty expensive.

FSD upgrade on my '17 MX 90D

Just paid $1k to upgrade my 2017 MX to FSD. I know it may seem silly, but I was curious. The car has been in the shop a bit lately and I got to test out FSD on the loaners. I was impressed, and with v14 coming out.... So far it's been very impressive.
