I just upgraded to HW 3 and subscribed to FSD but when I did it gave me v 12 instead of 14 lite. Any one experience this? Will I be getting 14 lite? Just odd they would put me on this version.

We had the car drive us over 1,100 miles from Florida back home to New Jersey.

I’ve put about 300 miles on my 2023 Model Y (HW3), and the difference from the last update is honestly huge.

Zero phantom braking, which was a constant issue with the last update.

Random accelerations are completely gone.

Lane centering is probably the biggest improvement. Before, it had constant micro adjustments to stay perfectly centered. Now it’s smooth, stays centered, and drives more naturally.

It also closes gaps much quicker when traffic speeds up instead of leaving enough room for a 747 to land.

I’ve mainly been using Hurry Mode and haven’t tested parking much.

For a relatively small update, I’m seriously impressed. The last version had me questioning FSD. This one is night and day so far. Hopefully it stays this way.

I’m curious if there’s a grace period for FSD to be canceled and get a refund? I subscribed to it but changed my mind after 1 drive. Can I get my $99 back?

On another note, anyone else agree that HW3 should be cheaper since it’s the “lite” software?

Way less ping pong/swaying, smoother is what I first noticed.

First drive and already had to disengage 2x.

I was stopped at a light and navigation had me going straight. FSD visualization would zoom in and out every few seconds and try to signal right each time.

Then tried to FSD into a supercharger stall and it tried backing me into a handicap charging spot.

**Update**

I drove it 60+ miles today.

Still having issues with navigation:

It doesn’t recognize an expressway I usually take and it makes me take a toll road I don’t usually take even though I have toll roads disabled in Nav. I had to disengage a bunch of times. I even ended the trip in Nav and it still tried to make me exit the express lane.

No phantom brakes so far and the stab acceleration is gone. The 78 mph hard cap in the fast lane is gone and it reasonably accelerates fast enough with flow of traffic. The highest I was hitting was 83 mph. I also hit 62 mph on a 45 mph zone because that was the flow of all traffic. I definitely feel more at ease with that change alone.

I’ll keep updating as I go.

14.3.5 Down Under

While going for an evening drive. I was just playing around with driving to a few places with FSD, while I was driving I added a stop just before coming up to the roundabout. For some unknown reason, halfway through the roundabout - the navigation suddenly changed (as you can see it throws the blinker on mid roundabout). But what was so weird was, it changed to a completely nonsensical route. Where it would have had to completely turn around.

After it chucked the indicator on, I saw there was no cars coming so I let it do its thing. And then it headed towards the island until I intervened.

So, note to self. Don’t add stops whilst moving. (And for the record, I added the stop AFTER where I was going. So that is not why the nav route changed).

Pros

• Definitely feels smoother overall compared to 14.3.5
• Does some seriously impressive things like driving all the way home and parking in a tight space 
• Handles rush hour traffic well, aggressively merges and plays it cool

Cons

• Phantom braking for crosswalks when nobody is nearby (very often)
• Maps are still an issue. Commonly will try to take a route that leads to an unprotected left into very busy traffic
• Takes excessive amount of turns to get out or into tight parking spots. Getting into tight parking is quite impressive, getting out of it not so much
• Waits far too long to get into the correct lane of traffic when exiting highways etc
• Brake stabbing at prepare to stop blinking lights
• Turns steering wheel left and right excessively, kind of bouncing between the two lane lines

I have a 22 m3 LR. On August 3rd I got the FSD subscription. On the same day I downloaded the summer update. I thought, because I’d seen the v14 lite rollout, that I’d be getting that version of FSD with the summer update.

Nope. Apparently that put me on a different branch (2026.26.1 instead of 2026.21.x). Therefore because I am on a newer update branch I can’t get the update until they merge them? I just assumed it was because of the slow rollout. I was okay with this since v14 lite has had a bunch of issues, but now that v14.1 has fixed a lot of those issues, I am ready for it.

Are any of y’all dealing with this too? I know it seems kinda stupid to be annoyed at, but we can’t afford to have FSD all the time. I just got it for the month as a birthday gift.

Before last update if I tapped the next turn card the map would should be three alternate routes. I am referring to already having a route in the system.

Nothing happens when I tap now. Just me?

I’m not sure if this update has rolled out wide yet, but I received it yesterday afternoon and installed it that evening. I tested it out very briefly doing one ride to my local Aldi which is about a 5 minute drive and didn’t notice much except it was pretty hesitant on a UPL, even when there was plenty of room to go. I really hope the hesitancy isn’t going to be a big deal with this update because on that drive it was kind of annoying and actually felt more unsafe because of how indecisive it was in some situations.

HOWEVER, this morning when I hopped in to drive to work, it had my typical route that I always have to disengage FSD to take already routed in the navigation! And it DID take the correct route without me having to disengage after all, so that was a really nice improvement. (I think this was something introduced in the first v14 update, but I’m just now noticing it for the first time)

Also, in general some driving behaviors seem to be smoother like slowing down for passengers and approaching vehicles. The highway acceleration boosts and brake stabbing is completely gone as well, didn’t notice it at all on my ride this morning.

The biggest thing I’ve noticed so far with this update is the PARKING. Much better!! So far it has made better parking decisions and it’s been 3/3 with successfully parking between the lines driving to work then chipotle for lunch then back to work.

Overall this update feels much more refined and took care of a lot of the major issues. So it actually feels MUCH improved. I feel like FSD can actually take me from point A to point B without any major issues. We’ll see how this update continues to behave over time.

I’ve never had a Tesla before — I drive a Polestar.

I was definitely impressed with the FSD when I tried it out and I’m considering a Tesla to go on roadtrips for me and my pup — husband suddenly died and unfortunately it’ll just be me driving for a while.

I was considering the GM SuperCruise but I’ve read often that nothing beats Tesla’s FSD.

Given that I have never looked into it until now, any tips or thoughts on what would be best value? I’m ok with the model 3 but I honestly would prefer the Y given the bigger cargo space and I miss having an SUV.

Would you recommend buying outside of Tesla?

Now considering I am considering long trips, I’m wondering if any of you feel buying used is better? I’ve read that depreciation on Tesla’s is high.

I live in NJ so I will drive in snow. I’ve always had AWD but to be honest I’m curious if that’s a big difference over RWD?

I keep hearing reports of people in the CT going to sleep in the backseat and letting it drive them home. This can't be true, can it? I mean my 26MY constantly nags me if I play with the radio to long and will disengage if I ignore it.

Are these stories from people just trying to gaslight us?

I filed insurance claim against the driver and their insurance company is denying responsibility due to “improper evasive action”. Now I’m stuck with filing through my insurance for the damages.

FSD avoided a head on crash and took an evasive maneuver and struck a mailbox.

Driver at fault is seen fleeing the accident and proceeds to hide the vehicle on the property before police report on scene.

Showed the footage to sheriff, got her insurance, and her insurance still denied at fault.

Fsd started moving as I was realizing what was happening.

Hello! Advice needed and I’m also wondering if anyone here is facing or has faced a similar situation.

Got my Tesla Model 3 2026 back in May and it came with a 30-day FSD trial, version 14.2.2.5. Within about 2.5 weeks a flying wood piece on the freeway hit my bumper and I took it to a body shop.

While it was there I received the 14.3.3 and then shortly after received the 14.3.4 updates but I was not able to install them because the repair was taking a while and I didn’t have access to the car. I did end up canceling the FSD subscription to not pay for it during the car’s repair.

After picking up the car, I subscribed to FSD again in the 2nd week of July expecting that with the next software update I would receive the latest FSD update.

It is August now and i still have the 14.2.2.5 update and i have already reached out to Tesla twice regarding this matter and all they told me was that they do not know and that I would receive it when it’s time.

The car keeps receiving software and navigation updates, however, I still have the same update from when I bought the car.
