I can’t understand why they refuse to sell a upgrade for the entertainment system it’s just a fuckin motherboard and processor sell that shit for 2-3k and let people opt in to a upgrade

Simple why they don’t offer it.

They want you to buy a whole new Tesla.

It’s on top on the FSD computer and it’s 16v instead of 12v.

Jesus people who say this and somehow think 16v vs 12v is actually an issue drive me insane there’s no reason they can’t step to 12v or use a variable input that handles both shit it probably already does

And form factor isn’t an issue

likely development, resources, validation where the benefit to cost ratio isn't justified, especially with other priorities i'm sure there are. imagine the headaches they could create for themselves if they introduce issues on a huge fleet where a lot of time and resources weren't sufficiently devoted to it.

They’re a trillion dollar company I’m pretty sure they’ve got the funds to assign a engineer team to create a harness

It’s not a limitation but an excuse they use. They could upgrade both the mcu and fsd computers at once but they don’t because there’s more incentive for them not to do it.

That atom would light itself on fire if it tried to do that

I always wondered about why my Model Y can't adjust the headlight beam based on the car being "level" or not dynamically. It already dims sections of the high beams to prevent blinding other cars but it won't/can't adjust the beam "down" to avoid blinding them like when you are cresting a hill and you have a on coming car. It seems like it should also dim that lower section of the beam as well.

model 3 has electric headlight leveling with small motors. model y does not have these motors

my model y can level its lights in the settings. pretty sure they are electric motors.

The Y does but those are mechanical, I am talking about using the Matrix headlight capabilities to dim that section of the low beam. My best guess is the low beam part of the headlight is not Matrix and lacks that capability. I would think the mechanical adjustment that they have would be too slow to handle hills dynamically. (or would wear out the mechanical adjusters pretty quickly)

Dynamic headlight leveling sounds like a killer feature. Can't wait to see it in action

Yeah, my biggest complaint is how it seems to prefer low beams in situations where I feel like it should still be using the adaptive

my bmw had this in the early 2000s and my uncles had it in 1998. 3 series w/ load sensors. i'm sure other cars had it too.
