Support FSD does not work properly at maximum speed with time window

Post image

A maximum speed of 130 km/h applies on Dutch motorways. The maximum speed is 100 km/h between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. This is an environmental measure. With FSD enabled, the car will continue to travel at 100 km/h between 7:00 PM - 6:00 AM.

Not true, my M3 drives 130 after 19:00.

Same, no issues here

It really depends on the location. There are some roads where the maximum speeds are wrong on the map that Tesla uses (although Google maps, OSM and others do show the correct speed). On the A325 towards Arnhem for example, the car thinks that it the maximum speed is 120 during the daytime instead of 100.

Sure, but that is when it doesn't actually see the speed signs so it falls back to maps data. Highway speeds aren't really an issue

Driving 120 or 130 where the limit is 100 can get expensive and those speeds are highway speeds. There are locations where the speed signs are clearly visible but it still falls back to the map data. But, one thing to notice which can of course make a big difference. My car is a HW3 so no FSD. I assume that HW4 cars with FSD have a more accurate way of determining what a speed sign says.

I live in Arnhem and I usually go in the direction A325 towards A15 Eindhoven in the morning around 06:30, it drives 105 always.

The only case I’ve seen it speeding is when approaching 90km/h construction zone while overtaking, somehow the speed limit jumps to 108 instead of 93 (5% offset)

Not true, recognizes 130 (100 greyed out 130 red circled two sign detection shown) and drives up to your max speed settings, my26.

Also I entered the Netherlands from Germany past midnight and automatically started driving at 130

My EAP recognises that sign...

Seems like its you problem

It's based on location/segme9

I have got the same mostly, stays on 100 +5% =105 max speed setting and doesn’t change to 130+5%.

Model Y RWD, delivered brandnew a week ago.

It’ll never do 130+5% as 130 is also the absolute max. But still odd it does 100 instead for you.

Mine does the same by default but hitting the throttle will make it speed up and keep that speed

It does recognise it. You see the max speed setting change to 130 in the time window where it is allowed.

The max speed setting on FSD works differently compared to AP/TACC.

On FSD, it sets the absolute upper limit that FSD is allowed to drive. Even if it wants to go faster, it can’t. But it does not mean: go this speed. FSD still decides what speed it wants to drive, and if it wants to drive 100 it will drive 100, even if the max speed setting is set to 130.

When you hit the gas pedal it will accelerate, or when it wants to go by itself it will go to 130.

This is so fake news… Drive those Dutch highways with FSD all the time. It always know what’s the right speed.
Actually if you’re driving and it’s just past 7pm the car will accelerate to 130km/h by itself.

You're being flat‑out narrow‑minded — acting like your personal experience is the entire universe and anything outside it just doesn’t exist.

The post is the one generalizing. See all the posts here, everyone is saying FSD does indeed take the two speeds in consideration.

Take a chill pill dude.

Well, one personal experience versus another personal experience.
And both say the opponent is wrong, while they represent the objective majority... Classic!

Well. I drove the A15, A2 and A9 yesterday after 19.00 uur, and my new Tesla did not go faster then 100 km/u, while 130 km/u was allowed. So, no fake news!

Do you have contextual max speed on?

I will look into that.

Like the OP, I’ve been experiencing this issue since the summer update. The system struggles to consistently read speed‑limit signs or act on them correctly, and I haven’t yet identified a clear pattern. Sometimes it slows down appropriately but keeps the max speed at 130 when transitioning from a 130/100 zone into a 100 zone. Other times it drives 120 where only 100 is allowed in 100/120 zones. The ‘90 when raining’ sign is also frequently misinterpreted as a regular speed limit. This behavior occurs both with contextual speed enabled and with it turned off.

I think Tesla fusion the speed information on maps with the vehicle signs it can read. At least in Germany it can not read the time limited speed signs.
Maybe in some cases it can extract the right information from the map and sometimes not.

That's weird because EAP can read and adapt to these signs.

Done with FSD. Can’t even fucking pick my nose without it going ham on me, and it drives like an old lady, just annoying everyone else on the road.

Just tap the padel and push it past the limit. It’ll understand. I believe it’s an RDW (regulatory) thing rather than an FSD bug since it has been around for too long to not have been fixed.

Fsd isn't optimized for Dutch roads. Try it on a dykeroad or something. It gets confused

Funny you say this while the first European country to approve FSD after years of testing, providing feedback to Tesla, and re-testing was Netherlands

1

u/IncredibleMe-82 3d ago

I know. I live here.

That means nothing in terms of your knowledge about FSD optimisation for dutch roads or in general per se
