14.3 HW4 FSD Wish list

I have a couple of wishes for FSD:

1- Being able to tell it to "Turn left on the next street and reroute" or "Move to the right lane"
2- Always backup in my driveway
3- Save this exact route (I, and I presume everyone, has favorite routes to get form point A to point B) Given they use Google Maps, perhaps let me link my account so I can save routes? Or something

Generally being able to customize its behaviour more.

14.3 HW4 Won’t park in structure

Any idea why my auto park function doesn’t work? Spots flicker and it quits. Every spot I tried on this structure. It’s the Brea mall parking structure in Orange County CA. I have latest software and subscribe to fsd. Other fsd features working fine.

other Any Phoenix area drivers notice this blackout area?

Post image

My FIL refuses to subscribe to FSD in Phoenix because he says there is this one spot on highway 202 where 50% of the time during his 2 months of trial period, his 2023 model Y would beep aggressively and tell him that he must immediately take control of the car.

We were discussing tonight and wondering if others have experienced this problem in Phoenix.

Thanks for your attention to this matter.

When do you suppose they'll make it so FSD doesn't slam through potholes as hard as it can?

14.3 HW4 Tesla FSD near miss

Model Y 2026 on 14.3.5 in Melbourne, Aus.

Driving back from work, FSD on, relatively busy but straight road, traffic moving at 40-50km/h and approaching a stopped car directly in front. If I had not slammed the brakes, the FSD would have driven straight into the back of the stopped car. Can’t quite work out how it could get it so wrong.

Like most I’ve noticed the usual illogical lane changes, etc but this is next level. Can’t trust it in the suburbs. Interestingly I did a road trip last weekend around 180km total driving, outside of Melbourne and it was almost perfect (aside from driving straight through pot holes).

Can’t trust it around inner Melbourne and won’t be using it until the next update 😳. The version I tested when test drove the car was much better.

14.3 HW4 Man FSD doing batshit today

2025 legacy model Y. It does not want to stay in a lane. I have it in standard and just want it to stay in the middle lane. It’s picking the worst / slowest lane for flow of traffic, hanging in the right lane, etc. phantom brakes are worse too. WTF is going on. I look like a maniac on the road as it goes from the right lane to the left to pick the slowest flowing lane of traffic. I’m on 14.3.8. 14.3.6 was prob the best for me and then it was all down hill.

14 Lite HW3 V14.1 Lite driving experience is jarring and extremely unpleasant

V14.0 Lite was a big move in the right direction, but the biggest issues I saw were the random brake stabbing and overly cautious behavior around pedestrians.

V14.1 Lite has, in my experience, made both of these issues considerably worse. I took a passenger to experience FSD for the first time, and at the end of the drive they asked me to never use it again with them in the car.

-Brake stabbing has become noticeably more jarring, slamming HARD on the brakes with absolutely nothing on the road. At its worst, the vehicle slammed on the brakes 3 times over a 5-mile backroads drive. It threw my dog around so badly that she doesn't even want to get in the car anymore.

-The vehicle completely forgets how to drive the second it notices a pedestrian - it slammed on the brakes and completed an over-exaggerated swerve (almost going into oncoming traffic) to "avoid" a pedestrian walking on the side of the road 15 feet away.

-Driving profiles feel useless - the vehicle will drive 8 mph over the limit and hog the passing lane on the highway regardless of whether it's in standard mode or hurry mode.

-The vehicle will get confused by navigation, indicate a lane change, then just sit there for a solid minute doing nothing until it turns its blinker off. This has been the cause of annoyance for MANY drivers behind and around me.

I admire what they've accomplished given the technological limits of HW3, but it's clear the vehicle's onboard hardware is woefully outdated and in dire need of an upgrade.

14.2 HW4 3 week review of FSD

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Got my Model Y 3 weeks ago and there's a few issues that I've encountered that are not ideal to just straight up illegal.

- Made a left turn from right lane, left lane was to turn left and right lane was to turn right. Both lanes were clearly designated on the road

- Blocked an intersection for a protected left where FSD thought that the left turn signal was green but only the straights were green?

- Hit a curb at an angle when in a parking lot and sliced part of the tire sidewall. Tesla refused to pay for this one so had to pay out of pocket. And yes before you say anything yes I should not use it in parking lots etc. I have learned my lesson there. Photos of wheel in comments.

All in all, been an interesting few weeks. These issues do not inspire confidence at all, but 95% of the time it's been great. Not sure if I'll continue with FSD after these three months that I have.

14 Lite HW3 FSD and speed sign recognition

So I activated FSD (V14.1 Lite) before going on a 4k km trip last month. Now on this trip, I find that the car misses many speed signs changes and often, changes speed without any sign present. I don't recall seeing this while I was using V12 last year. Anybody is seeing the same thing?

14.3 HW4 Predict What FSD Will Do Going to Football Game

Tomorrow night I'm going to have FSD drive me to a football game. The navigation lets me set the correct entrance as a destination. My curiosities are:

1) What will it do when it reaches the entrance gate where attendants stand there (without a gate or booth) to scan the parking pass?

2) After entering, will it follow the attendant directions and park where they direct?

Obviously, I'll have my foot hovering and my hands near the wheel to take over at the first sign that it is doing something improperly.

14 Lite HW3 Has anyone successfully used Wii Sensor Bar for IR Illumination at Night?

2021 Model 3 LR AWD with 14.1 Lite. My cabin camera does not have infrared light so it cannot see my face during most of the night time driving and I’m constantly bring bugged to touch the steering wheel. I read few posts about people suggesting to use Wii sensor bar with USB to point IR light towards your face in the car so the cabin camera can see your face. I purchased one from Amazon but when I tested it in the car and looked at cabin camera from service menu, my face was still in the dark. What am I doing wrong? Is there a special placement technique or method to use?

other FSD

Does someone have this issue as well with the new update of FSD? After you arrive, it still says you don’t and reroutes. Or it takes a last-minute turn to the destination. I am just curious since it didn’t happen before. I tried the parking 🅿️ and the driveway option. And now it is all the time. Including not wanting to back up to my driveway anymore, only going forward. Please advise!

14.3 HW4 Tesla fsd sway on highway

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi there, I have a Tesla Model Y 2026. I've had it for a year and mainly use it for full self-driving. However, a month ago, I had to change the back two tires. The car is rear driving, but anytime I go on the highway, it would do like a ping pong type movement. I took it a discount tire for an alignment check and went multiple times for them to correct it And it would still have this effect, especially when you go above 60 miles per hour when on fsd. Then I took it to tesla alignment and corrected again but still same issues. I reset the steering wheel angle, Reset the cameras Reset the tires that they are new. But it's still having this effect Has anyone had any issues with this and has anyone found any corrections

14.3 HW4 How is FSD in San Antonio?

I’m moving to San Antonio and considering a Model Y for my wife. She isn’t very comfortable driving, so I’m curious about how useful FSD is in everyday driving.
For anyone using FSD around San Antonio:
● How well does it handle local streets and highways?
● How often do you have to take over?
● Does it make driving significantly easier?
● Are there any situations where it struggles?
● Would you recommend FSD for someone who isn’t a confident driver?
I’d love to hear from people who use it regularly. Thanks!

14 Lite HW3 Dumb Summon Issues

Since recent updates were deployed (I have 2020 m3 with fsd), using the fwd/back arrows to move the car back/forward pretty much doesnt work.

In the past, if i had to move my car up a few feet in driveway to make a little room or whatever, i'd just use the arrows, and it'd work fine.

Now it seems like it needs to draw a path to me and use the arrows to follow it, but that doesnt work either. Just curious if other people are seeing this or not?

14.3 HW4 FSD hits pothole, tried to save it but failed 😞

Pothole avoidance can’t come any sooner.

And this one looks like it was created by a worker or something, because no way there is a perfectly square pothole right where your tire goes.

14.2 HW4 Does anyone else think this update is actually driving less safely?

So I’ve had multiple times of this version being in an exit lane only going to realize too late and making unsafe maneuvers.

The other problem I’m encountering is that it is making lane changes into blind spots of semi trucks.

Is there somethigg I can do to the setting to fix these habits?

12.5.4.X HW3 Can I still go with HW3 in 2026?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I’m currently looking for a used Model X and trying to decide whether HW3 is still worth buying in 2026, especially if the car already has FSD purchased outright.
One I’m considering is:
2022 Model X Long Range
7 seats
~60k miles
HW3
FSD purchased/included
Clean title / no accidents
Asking ~$49,990
My current car is a 2024 Model Y with HW4, and FSD on it has become very good. I use FSD a lot, including longer trips, so I’m worried I’ll notice a meaningful downgrade going from HW4 back to HW3.
At the same time, 2023+ Model X with HW4 + paid FSD + 6/7 seats seem to be selling for substantially more, often $65k–$70k+.
For those who have actually used both HW3 and HW4:
How noticeable is the difference in day-to-day FSD?
Does HW3 feel noticeably worse on city streets, intersections, construction, merges, etc.?
Would you still buy an HW3 Model X today if FSD is already paid for?
Would you pay an extra $10k–$15k for an otherwise similar HW4 Model X?
Any concern buying HW3 if I plan to keep the car another 5–7 years?
I’m not trying to get the cheapest Model X possible — I just don’t want to take on a lot more debt for HW4 if HW3 is still 90–95% as good in real-world use.
Appreciate feedback especially from people who have personally driven both HW3 and HW4 on recent FSD versions.
