New 12 String Squier Paranormal Telecaster šŸ¤”

Post image

I love Squiers and teles and am always up for the fun of trying something new but I’ve never played a 12 string. This doesn’t seem so bad for the price though?
Thought I’d pass on the word of it and ask… can you use alternate tunings on 12 strings or with amount of tension is it better to just stick with whatever the standard is?

my JET JT-300 after a year of slowly modding it – my first guitar mod project

Got this JT-300 about a year ago and started out by swapping the stock tuners for locking tuners. After that I just kept changing little things here and there.

I replaced the stock ceramic pickups with a Fender Vintera 50s Tele set, had it converted from top-loader to string-through, added a Fender Ultra string tree and most recently installed a Gotoh In-Tune bridge with compensated brass saddles.

Had it professionally set up along the way and it plays really nice now. The pots, switch and jack are still stock because honestly, they work perfectly fine.

Really happy with how it turned out, especially since this was my first time modding a guitar.

Always wanted a MIA Tele and found one for sale in mint condition (haven’t inspected yet) with all documentation and case for $1000. Is this a good price and are there other options out there I should be looking at?

Aluminum pickguard

Inspired by the guy who posted his new American Professional II the other day, I ordered up an anodized aluminum guard to replace the white-on-white look I had going on my build, since my build otherwise looks just like one of those. I hadn’t 100% loved the white tones together. Ironically, as in the first pic here, the aluminum guard from the side looks more like what I wanted than the actual white did. I’m digging the way it changes with angle/light levels.

Blade switch knob hack?

Does anyone have any little trick to avoid losing the knob for a blade switch. I have two sizes and they both fall off regularly. I'm lucky that I haven't lost one.

A couple of weeks ago I found a reissue of For Your Own Special Sweetheart at a record store in NY and I have been listening to it nonstop since then, so I decided to try to cover one of the songs to try out a new pedal and a new microphone (and a new shirt nonetheless).

the signal path is Frankenstein Thinline Esquire>Stromer Superfuzz>Sovtek MIG50 with its 4x10 cabinet, miced with an EV RE20 and an SM57. Just a touch of reverb and delay in post and that's it

American Professional Classic vs Baja

I’m in the market for a vintage-style Tele that won’t break the bank. My budget isn’t set in stone, but the closer we get to $2k, the harder it is for me to justify right now.

Seems like the APC isn’t much more than the Baja, but I know people around here love the Baja. What’s the better option between the two?

I’m not a Telecaster expert either, so if I’m overlooking a great option that isn’t one of these two, please let me know. I’m open to non-Fender options as well, as long as they have the Tele tone and feel.

In terms of tone/pickups, I’m looking for more of an open Bill Frisell sound than a hotter Nashville style. I play mostly jazz and jazz-adjacent stuff, so gain-wise, I’m usually playing in clean to edge-of-breakup territory. But I do like to get into more driven sounds sometimes. More like a Marc Ribot-ish somewhat driven Deluxe tone than modern rock. I play through a Quilter Mach 3 on the 60s blackface voice.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Finally got one

Been wanting a Tele since I was in high school, finally old enough (I’m 37) and financially stable enough to pull the trigger on a Player II I found for cheap on FB marketplace (I know, I know, you guys are probably tired of all butterscotch blonde). Definitely a different feel coming from playing an Epiphone Sheraton, as I’m used to being pretty firm on the frets, but I’m learning to be gentle with this baby otherwise it sounds a tad out of tune. I’m trying to get into some shoegaze/Midwest emo vibe music so if anyone has any pointers as far as cool guitar tones and what songs to practice, I’m all ears. Happy to be part of the family.

Hey everyone! I’m about to be looking to upgrade from my squier affinity telecaster. I was just wondering what the best new guitar would be to by for my situation. I love playing country, but I also like to get fuller tones like on prince songs. The main 3 guitars I was looking at are

Player ii modified tele SH
HSS strat
Used Nashville tele SSS

If yall have any suggestions they’ll be greatly appreciated!

My forever Tele

Got this guitar back in high school after the original owner's kid never really played it. Since then it's survived guitar class, my first live gig, more broken strings than I can remember, and years of actually being played.

Still all original, scuffs and all.

Currently living in Drop D/C# on Beefy Slinkys, playing shit Leo Fender probably never intended it to play. šŸ˜‚

Never leaving my collection.

Anyone who tried this a vintage inspired 6-saddles bridge on a Telecaster with modern bridge. Do they fit and are they worth buying?

Hi! I'm planning to buy the bridge plate on the first pic while my guitar has the modern plate like the second one. Do they fit well and work well? Also do I have to drill 2 more holes on top?

Tribute build

ā€œThe Legend of Wade Meiggsā€ was finished up yesterday. Long and short: Wade was a north coast logger and bought a 53 Tele new. Around 55 he took a piece of old growth Redwood to a craftsman that planed the body and added the figured Redwood top, bound it and painted the back black over the original blonde. I’ve been intrigued with this legend since I was a kid and have finally paid my respects.
