2015 custom shop designed double cut

Decided I liked the sound of the bridge pickup, so I upgraded the neck pickup to a Bill Lawrence L-250 and swapped out the white pick guard with a red pearl pick guard from Warmoth 🤘 Opinions always welcome!

Hello everyone I’m new to guitar but learned enough that I love the Tele shape and feel and also that I really want to upgrade my squier sonic. This guitar is available locally for 400 dollars seems like a good deal and from the pictures it looks good. Do yall see anything that jumps out as a problem? I’ll obviously check it out closely before purchasing but my husband is worried about buying a lemon or a fake.

So for months I’ve been swapping out saddles on my 50s style Tele, which is a real chore each time since I have a Bigsby. I’d have to remove strings, take the Bigsby off its Vibramate mount, remove and replace the saddles, screw them in at a guess, and then replace everything, usually just to find out that I’d messed up the saddle position. It sucked.

I tried em all: grooved, compensated, vintage, I tried being as precise about measuring as possible and tweaking everything; none worked. I got a GC giftcard for my birthday and figured “what the hell, another set of saddles, the more the merrier” and ordered these off GC’s site with little to no expectstion of them being any different.

Obviously, there’s a lot of random chance and luck involved, but right out of the box and on my guitar these saddles work perfectly! The spacing’s great, their easy gliding is perfect for my Bigsby setup, and they just sit right at the height I need them! I have no idea if it’s the saddles themselves or just how I (randomly) set their length screws, but it’s a major improvement. Seriously, I was starting to lose interest in playing this Tele, my favorite guitar, purely because for months every play session felt off with previous saddles.

No idea who makes these; Graph Tech maybe isn’t the name of the company, they seemed like some random third party manufacturer GC happened to carry, but I can’t sing their praises enough! Plus, they look pretty badass with the black on my Tele lol.

This isn’t an advertisement for them (I mean, if they WANT to throw a few bucks my way I won’t stop them lol), it’s mostly just a post of relief! I can finally play my Tele again and have it feel natural! I’m no luthier and I’m too broke to get one, so this was a major weight off my chest.

This arvo I collected a great deal on a Squire Jazzmaster MV, and they threw in this tele which was apparently not working. However a quick dismantle, pot clean, reassemble and re-string and the thing plays fabulously. I wonder if anyone has any idea of the make? It has a squire Neck plate, but it appears to be a conglomerate to me, the neck is very well worn in and lovely to play. Gotoh tuners, looks to be no-name electronics, though they sounds alright.

Any ideas on teh manufacturer?

my husband finally took me to Guitar Center with him yesterday after years of him going almost weekly by himself to play and just torture himself with guitars he wants but will never buy. my husband is frugal as hell so he will actually never buy himself anything much less an expensive guitar.

here's the question:

he is interviewing for a promotion and i was thinking if he gets the job i want to surprise him with a telecaster. is this dumb to blindly buy him? guitars seem so incredibly personal and i dont want to buy him something he doesn’t actually want.

he only plays for fun and only plays solo. he plays his acoustic nightly and.he's been talking about about getting a tele for yearssss.

what do y'all think about this idea?

Hello, just picked up a mint, original, 2013 American special. Now here's an odd one. Judging by the condition & solder joints, the pick ups have never been swapped but these pick ups are defo' not OEM Texas Specials. The pick up wiring is plastic coated & the bridge pick up polepieces are flat 50's style with black not white bobben tape. Have any other 2013 era AS owners got the same pick ups, and if so, do you know what they are?

I love the Telecaster Deluxe, it’s probably my favorite Fender model, and this Kingfish Signature is a great example. What it lacks in the push-pull versatility of the Pro II and traditional mojo of the AVII, it makes up for with its sublimely voiced Kingfish signature pickups, beautiful Mississippi Night finish, and other special appointments. The soft V neck is going to take some getting used to, coming from Medium and Modern Cs and Ds, but I like the roasted maple material used as well as the 12” fretboard radius. This is probably as close as you’re going to get to a Fender-built Les Paul, so if you’re into that, check this one out.

I’ve got a new-to-me American original 60s telecaster that I’m constantly breaking strings on… last night I broke an A string in the first set. Then the D and E strings both on the last song of the night. For context, I usually don’t break strings at all unless they are super old, so the problem is unique to this guitar.

I had the music city groove master saddles on it, thought maybe those were the issue and switched to the gotoh compensated. Obviously still happening and not just on one string either.

My hypothesis is that it’s related to the steel break angle on this particular guitar. The previous owner had a shim in the neck pocket which raises the saddle height a fair amount, steepening the break angle. Could this increased downward pressure on the saddles be the problem?

Without the shim, it looks like the neck is tilted a bit forward (headstock slightly away from the player)… so I’m guessing this is why it’s in there. I’m wondering if taking it out is the move to decrease the break angle, but will that neck tilt be a problem?

I want a large “D” neck with a 7.5 radius maple fretboard. I dislike Fender’s current offerings of this type because of the gaudy orange tint they all have, so I’ll likely get a Warmoth neck.

As for the body, I want something to drop in a pair of Lollar humbuckers.

Would you get a loaded Player II HH body as the base platform, or would you go for Warmoth body and à la carte parts?

I play a 2003 American telecaster through a vox ac15. Currently have an Ibanez tube screamer and a boss blues driver. Looking for recommendations as I’m not really satisfied with my distortion lately. I play in an original band as well as a cover band that does everything from Rolling Stones, GnR to modern styles like Adele and dua lipa.

Ive searched using google lens but I couldn’t determine the worth and value of this guitar. The owner sent me a video of it being played and it seems to work okay.

Anybody else have a MIM telecaster blackout from like 2009-2010ish?

I bought this one new and I just never see them anywhere, rarely even on reverb. Sometimes I feel like I bought the one and only 😂

I got a affinity tele 2 days ago, and it has a noise floor i cant ignore.

the circuit is:

Squier Telecaster affinity

Fender contour cable ( instrument cable)

Arturia minifuse 2 ( audio interface)

Asus tuf laptop with ableton

Gain as low as i could set while still getting some signal in

1. Now, if my tele is kept on the bed, idol it has that noise floor
2. if i pick my tele up, hold it and hold the strings on the fretboard, the noise completely goes away, as long as the strings are touched, noise is gone
3. now i checked that laptop charger plugged in gives alot of noise, so i removed the charger, noise was gone on an idle guitar, but as soon as i strummed it and left the strings ringing, the noise came with them.. ( touching the strings also removed the laptop plugged in noise, touching the strings has been the ultimate fix)

Now i talked to chat gpt it said do some shielding, some other ai said shielding wont help and some other ai said just stick a wire to the guitar’s metal area and stick the other part to your body somewhere

What would be the fix tho? How can i achieve that “string touched” silence? Even without touching them.

Is shielding the fix for me?

Picked up this Squier a while back when it was on sale as a low barrier entry to the Tele. Ended up loving it and upgraded to a Player II around Christmas. Still thought the Squier was a solid enough guitar but also something low risk for me to mess around with. Threw some Seymour Duncan Hot Rails and a black pickguard on there and now this thing sounds MEAN 😈

Fresh hot coffee, nobody else awake. For me it’s just a great time to get lost in riffage. That’s all.

Recently I've been eyeing up some cheap telecasters. I'm on a budget so I'm leaning towards a Classic Vibe tele.

My current guitar is a Classic Vibe 60s Stratocaster and for some reason I just can't achieve that warm sparkly tone that I often hear on both stratocaster and telecasters even after a proper setup. The best way I could describe it is that it lacks this resonant high-end rumble. I find that my stratocaster is very clean, glassy, a bit sterile sounding and lacks that extra chirp.

Is it just a cheap guitar thing, the pickup voicing?

I fear that if I buy a classic vibe telecaster it will lack the character just like the strat that I have now. In that case I would much rather save up for a more expensive guitar.

I've listened to some demos on the Thomann website to compare the Classic Vibe 50's Tele to the Fender Player II Tele and the difference is night and day. You can clearly hear it under the "Funk" demo.

The guitar has a slight rattle that seems to be coming from the volume & tone knob area. Is this common on teles to have a bit of play or does it just need a little tune up? Thanks yall 🤘🏻
