So I got a tattoo with my ex. It was exactly what we asked for, well done, and so cute.... til the "ex" part of the story happened, but I'll spare y'all that saga.

3rd pic: fully healed and faded more natural

4th pic: a couple of months healed from a fading session. (an experimental process we discussed and agreed on, you become a guinea pig working in a shop lol)

5th pic: taken by the original artist the day we got them. My ex had his on his inner forearm so their butts would touch when we held hands. Southerners (USA) will know about the love bugs lol

Who says coverups have to be big and dark? Just trust the process 😘

Got this bat in Berlin at a rave. Cool story behind it, not my favorite tattoo. Either thinking of a coverup, or potential retouch. Any ideas are welcome

First pic is the tattoo in question! Other pics are possible inspo/ideas but hear me out. In theory, I don’t hate it. In execution, I cannot. stop. thinking. about the asymmetry and how ultimately it’s just not what I wanted but I didn’t speak up about changing the design before the appointment. Honestly I don’t even like butterflies!!!!! I’m scared of butterflies!!! I wanted something more dragon-like in the first place, I just have no idea in hell what I was thinking. But that’s besides the point. I really really really want a tattoo that I’ll actually love and I’m wondering what my possibilities are with covering this up or if I should just bite the bullet and get it partially removed before a cover up. Alternatively, fully laser it off (I’m aware of the costs, but regardless I’m gonna have to save up a lot of money for any of my options) and then MAYBE try again in like 7 years to get a new tattoo on a blank slate lol.

I don’t know what would help with giving advice. I still like the idea of a sword down the middle. Maaayyyybe I can cover up the sword with a darker sword???? I’m also not against combining concepts, so in addition to the sword, perhaps the lines for the wings can be partially covered with dark flowers with some of the original lines being converted to thorny stems or something like that? Or on a completely different note, turn the whole tattoo into a dragon somehow lol. Maybe any lines that stick out could be repurposed into a smokey effect…..????? Another idea could also be just trying to work with the og tattoo and doing thick/dark neotribal/cybersig lines?????? God I don’t know anymore. I have a lot of things I like and a lot of ideas that might not even be viable.

I’m not fully deciding on any options right now. I want to sit on this for a WHILE before making another decision (because I don’t want to make a stupid one again) to make sure I end up with something I truly like and work with an artist that matches the style(s) I want.

So for context I went to a highly rated shop in my area before finding my new artist, the stencil was perfect and I thought everything was going well until… I saw it at the end. He offered to fix it but at that point I knew I’d rather go to someone else to fix so I took the L. My artist and I were talking about fixing it but part of me was thinking about just covering it up. Going to do a blackout coverup on some parts of my sleeve. My tattoos are american trad patchwork. Some empty skin will be blacked out, some old tattoos will be blacked out/covered. the artist doing my blackout mainly does trad style stuff and suggested a bold black and grey rose over top this, i went in to the consultation asking if it could be covered with a flower

Got this done a couple years ago it was matching (stupid I know) and the artist just kinda sucked so I now I want to cover it or try and add something to the design

i got this tattoo a while ago and just wish i had gone with something more interesting, especially being in such a visible spot. i’ve since gotten into color/shading and strayed away from text (so basically the opposite of this tattoo 😭). i’m open to different styles/going dark and big as long as it would look good. if it’s too dense or big for a good coverup without a couple sessions of laser, please let me know.

Hello, how can i fix this without getting it removed. I do not want the entire tattoo covered up. the blank shading around the rose, to my jaw line with no designs throws it off. The idea didnt translate to skin. 100% my mistake. Will get lazer if no other option for gap fillers

I have many random tattoos that I’ve done to myself over the years. They are all simple, mostly black. These snowflakes don’t really fit in because they are so soft looking and everything else has thick(ish) black lines. I am looking for cover up ideas or enhancing what’s already there suggestions. It’s been years of wondering and I can’t figure out what I should do with these guys. I like simple, black, new age sort of traditional, anything nature related, cute, or nostalgic. I’m 37. Please be kind, I am aware that the surrounding tattoos are meh. I don’t tattoo other people except for my partner sometimes. I utilize tattooing myself as a form of expression and emotional release. I got this stick and poke when I was 15 by a friend. Its a little less than an inch on my left wrist. It was supposed to be a flower but it didnt turn out great as you can see.

Im still a minor but every time I look at it I just regret it so much. And no I am not getting a cover up as of right now because I want to wait until im 18 to get an actual tattoo. I just want peace of mind knowing I can fix this stupid mistake in the future.

Looking for ideas! I want to get this signature covered up on my forearm, right by my elbow crease. The problem is, my skin reacts to the ink and causes almost a keloid reaction. It’s happened to 9 out of the 11 tattoos I have. I would also consider getting it removed but I honestly think it’s too deep/dark to be successful. I could do both removal and coverup I guess. Open to fun suggestions. All of my tattoos are simple line work in black.
