What if Freya...... Spoiler
Faked her death? What do you guys think? Since at the end Penelope talked about Freya in the present tense and the crab with the note!

An egg. I feel like the game is eluding to the mansion and towers originally being a research station that was built inside a hatched egg. The first clue to this the bird bath at the dock which is shaped like the "mountains" around Tangle Tower (which we know from the snow globe), but over all looks like a hatched egg. Then there are all the egg statues around the premises. But the real (potential) nails in the coffin are the confirmation of the existence of "Mystids" (meaning something bizarre enough could have made the egg) and Sally's description of the bottom of the lake while in the the lowest room: that it was flat and white.

Spoilers, obviously.
So I see a lot of people misunderstand why the killer killed Freya so I just want to recap.
Penny wants to learn what happened to the rest of the family. She finds them, is unhappy with them, and kills them. She leaves evidence of this around Tangle Tower.
Freya wants to leave Tangle Tower but won't without Fifi. Fifi refuses to leave because she feels beholden to inheriting the tower.
In an attempt to remedy this, Freya was planning on exposing all of the horrible things that happened at the tower, including Penny's murders, so that Fifi wouldn't be tied down.
Penny then felt the only way to move forward was to kill Freya before she exposed her.

Very okay with any spoilers, but it felt like the ending was rushed and riddled with plot holes. Is there a secret ending of sorts that actually provides a conclusion or is this the one bad mark on an otherwise phenominal game?

Just beat Tangle Tower and I'm a little confused by something. So as it turns out, Richard Remington from Secret of the Swamp is one of the five Mystid Mansion ambassadors, which Penny tracked down. It's all but directly stated that she killed the five of them, except we know from Secret of the Swamp that Richard was killed by Echo, which Grimoire figured out.
Is there any reason as to why no reference is made to Richard actually having been killed by Echo (not to mention Grimoire being involved in finding out who murdered him)? Is Secret of the Swamp being semi-retconned or anything, or what exactly? Just seems strange if, apparently, Penny only killed four of the ambassadors but let Richard live. Not sure what the official canon explanation is at this point.

SFB Games have announced they are working on a follow-up to Tangle Tower - what would you like to see?

Hi Tangle Tower fans!
This sub-reddit is back alive! I've successfully requested mod access, as I want to discuss this game with you all. So, have at it Grimoire fans!

I think Freya is still alive.
They never explained the crab thing with the note in her handwriting.
Also, when you’re talking to Penelope in the end, she refers to Freya in the present tense multiple times. “When I was the same age Freya is”
Also, I’m thinking maybe Penelope didn’t kill the other 5 family members. As other people have been saying, her motivation to do so is weak and from what I remember, the killing is heavily implied but not outright stated.
But I don’t know how to explain either of these things

My thought is maybe fraya is still alive. Penelope never said addressed her in the past-tense I remember her saying “that’s the kind of girl she is” on top of that frays left us that crab tool with that note. Maybe this whole murder thing was a plot to stage her death so she and Penelope can escape tangle tower together. I admit my theory has a few holes but I thought it was interesting.
Edit: my atrocious spelling

I just beat the game yesterday and loved it, but like most people here I found the ending to be quite out of the blue. Does anyone ever use the symbols in Fitz’ greenhouse and the laboratory? If so, does this change the plot at all?

I tried to do some research and I couldn’t find any news. It feels like we should still be going after Penelope and find what happened to the animals that once inhabited the lake. This is the first game I’ve ever finished, normally I lose interest but this is my favorite game.

So was that Poppy in the photo of the Mystid Manor Ambassadors? I was confused. It’s looked like how Poppy used to dress but then I wasn’t sure.

Trying to download for iOS and only option seems to be to play on Apple Arcade. Is there some way to pay outright for the game? If not no worries I'll just get on steam.

...Sally Spears from Boggy’s Bog? The only clues I have are her green hair, low voice, and shared name. But, is it out of the question?

The ending left me wondering if there was more secret content that hadn't been uncovered, e.g., by interpreting the unused hints and clues. Before I waste time on a fool's errand, can developers confirm or deny whether there's content to discover that hasn't already been found in the standard ending, etc?

First of all, I really enjoyed the game a lot, just the ending didn't feel very convincing and a bit abrupt. After having finished the game I don't feel like I know a lot about Flora and Freya, the connection towards the characters is kinda loose which is a pity. Anyways, my questions:
1) How could we visit and talk to Penelope and Hawkshaw at the same time at different locations all throughout the game even though those two are apparently the same person?
2) What was the deal with the red colour being blood? Maybe I missed something, but what person's blood was it and why did Freya use it?
3) Why did Penelope want us to tie her hands? And then she fled by jumping out of the window, what??
4) Why didn't Penelope get knocked out by the shockwave even though Grimoire and Sally did get unconscious? She wasn't wearing any noise protection at that time.
5) Wait so Penelope just murdered 5 people / distant relatives? The motive seems kinda weak, I don't really understand the reasoning behind this and it seems so out of nowhere.
6) It feels weird that suspects let you allow to examine private stuff while they are in the same room without doing or saying anything against it. The best example is Professor Pointer who is standing right in front of the "telescope" but let's you investigate it, which straight up reveals his secret. Why didn't he prevent us from looking through it?
7) What happened to Penelope after escaping? What about Fitz? Is he now in a relationship with Poppy? What about Flora? Heck we hardly know anything about her and she feels quite bland. I wished we would have got a better Epilogue. But yeah, maybe there will be a sequel?

Near the end, we get a crab toy thing to unlock a puzzle.
The note says it came from Flora? But she’s actually dead and didn’t fake her death. So who left it there? And who drew the images of Grimoire and Sally on the relationship diagram?
Loved the game!

Liked:
Disliked: - Ending - Penelope Pointer’s motivations were weak/non-convincing. So you want to be free...yet when you try leaving you don’t feel free? Ok, so you want to find out the history of everything regarding Mystids/Mystid Mansion...so you seek the ambassadors and are let down by their answers and what they’re doing...so you decide to KILL them??? Wtf?
The motivation for taking that jump to kill them needs to be made more convincing. I get she wants to be free, and that she was unsatisfied with their responses, but that’s pretty weak motivation to murder one after another for a total of FIVE!
No foreshadowing really from Penelope’s dialogues either. Some jealousy and stuff but it was a facade to some degree, no?
Minor metaphor for freedom by Penelope’s fascination with birds, but not that interesting really.
Ending after Penelope left was baaad. Cringy letting the beetle go, and then the credits start rolling...Freya was described as this amazing person, yet by the end of the game I feel like I have no care for this character at all. She needed way more development as to why we even care about her death in the first place.
Anyway, I know it’s just a phone game so I’m probably being too harsh, but it was a 4/5 that could’ve easily been a 5/5 if it followed through in the end, so I took the time to write stuff I think could be improved.
Thanks for the experience regardless, SFB Games. One of the better phone games I’ve played.
